An absorbent article includes an absorbent structure. The edge portions in the absorbent structure's middle portion have a first mean pore size, and the central portion in the middle portion of the absorbent structure has a second mean pore size, the first mean pore size being greater than the second mean pore size. The absorbent article can be folded along the longitudinal centre axis so that a part of the article on one side of the longitudinal centre line and a corresponding part of the article on the other side of the longitudinal centre line are brought together to lie against one another at a plane of the longitudinal centre line on the upper surface of the article. The edge portions which have the greater, first mean pore size thereby form an area of the absorbent article that is first wetted during use.

Absorbent article including an absorbent structure

An apparatus and a method for applying particles within a pre-determined limited area of an absorbent structure. The apparatus has: a nozzle arranged to dispense the particles on the pre-determined limited area of the absorbent structure; conduit for supplying particles by a gas flow from a particle container to the nozzle; a valve arranged between the nozzle and the particle container; and, a valve vane arranged to direct the gas flow having particles through the valve from a particle inlet to an application outlet when the valve is in a first position and to direct the gas flow having particles through the valve from the particle inlet to a residue outlet when the valve is in a second position. The apparatus also has a device for maintaining a gas flow in the application outlet when the valve is in the second position.

Method and device for application of particles in an absorbent structure

An apparatus and a method for manufacturing an absorbent core for an absorbent product containing a first material and a second material dispersed throughout at least a portion of said first material. A rotating forming wheel produces the absorbent core in a mold provided on its circumferential surface and the forming wheel has a rotating air pervious belt along at least a part of the circumferential surface for keeping fibers and particles of the formed layer or layers in place on the wheel.
