The present invention provides a method and system for facilitating improved downlink MIMO sector throughput in the presence of UE DC-offset. The system receives BLER from a plurality of UEs and tracks by L1 computing the DL BLER in a UE; checks if the BLER from the UE allocated with an RB containing a DC subcarrier is above a target BLER and if so the L1 increases the power of the RE containing the DC-subcarrier in steps of 3 dB. If the BLER improves in the UE, the L1 stops further increase of power on the DC subcarrier RE. The L1 maintains the improved UE/sector throughput and the subcarrier RE power. The system further supports a plurality of 5G NR UEs with different bandwidth wherein the DC-carrier of each UE can be worked out by the L2 by a set of predefined instructions.

Method and system facilitating improved downlink MIMO sector throughput in the presence of UE DC-offset

The present invention provides an efficient and reliable systems and methods for facilitating FAIL SAFE possibilities in a Network by exploiting 3GPP defined Radio Resource Control (RRC) T310 (Radio-Link Failure Timer), N310 (Radio-Link Failure Counter), T311 (Radio Link Re-establishment Timer), N311 (Radio Link Re-establishment Counter) Timers and associated Counters to enable the L1 to recover within the combined duration of the sum of T310 and T311 timers, for example, typically, 100 msec following a L1 SW exception event.

System and method for facilitating fail safe nodes in a network

One embodiment is directed to a method of estimating a transmit power of a UE. The method comprises determining, at a base station serving the UE, a received power for the UE, determining, at the base station, a path loss for the UE, and determining, at the base station, the transmit power for the UE as a function of the received power for the UE and the path loss for the UE. The method can be used when the first UE has reached or exceeded a maximum reported power headroom (PHR) for the UE and can be used for performing transmit power control for the UE as a function of the determined transmit power for the UE. Other embodiments are disclosed. The described embodiments can be used in a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) as well as other types of base stations.

Estimating and controlling transmit power of user equipment by a base station

One embodiment is directed to off-loading at least some of the baseband processing for signals received at or transmitted by at least one overloaded radio point to at least one other radio point so that the off-loaded baseband processing is performed by the at least one other radio point. The radio points are a part of a centralized or cloud radio access network (C-RAN) or similar system.

Distributed physical-layer processing by remote units of cloud/centralized radio access network (C-RAN)

A distributed radio access network (RAN) includes a plurality of radio points (RPs), each being configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with at least one user equipment (UE). The distributed RAN also includes a baseband controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of RPs via a fronthaul network. The baseband controller is configured to determine, for each of the plurality of RPs, a number of successfully received packets on the fronthaul network, for a wireless channel, during a measurement interval. The baseband controller is also configured to determine, for each of the plurality of RPs, a number of packet losses (reflecting dropped and/or delayed packets), for the wireless channel and during the measurement interval, based on the number of successfully received packets.

One embodiment is directed to controlling a gain for a receive signal path for receiving wireless signals. The following are repeatedly performed: determining an estimate of the total noise and interference in a received signal and determining a gain value for the receive signal path based on the estimate of the total noise and interference in order to maintain the digital data at a digital set point for a signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) decoded with a highest modulation and coding scheme specified for the wireless channel. Another embodiment is directed to determining a received signal strength of the signals received at the receive signal path and determining a gain value for the receive signal path based on the received signal strength that maintains the digital data at a digital set point for a SINR sufficient to decode the MCS specified for the wireless channel.

Gain control for a radio frequency (RF) front-end of base station

A cloud radio access network (C-RAN) includes a baseband controller communicatively coupled to a plurality of radio points (RP) via a fronthaul network. Each of the plurality of RPs are configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with at least one user equipment (UE). At least one of the RPs is configured to determine a timing difference while synchronizing to the baseband controller; and determine a frequency error, between the RP and a neighboring base station, based on a radio environment monitoring (REM) procedure. A phase error is determined, between the baseband controller and the neighboring base station, phase error is determined based on the timing difference for the RP and baseband controller, and the frequency error for the RP and the neighboring base station.

Synchronizing a cloud radio access network to a network time protocol reference clock

A communication system is provided. The communication system includes at least one radio point, each configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with a user equipment (UE) at a site. The communication system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the at least one radio point. The controller is configured to determine a transmit power control (TPC) command for the UE based on a signal to interference plus noise (SINK) for the UE. The controller is also configured to determine a count (N) of consecutive uplink transmissions, from the UE, meeting at least one criteria. The controller is also configured to determine a modified TPC command for the UE based on the count (N) and the TPC command.

Transmit power control in a C-RAN

A radio-frequency (RF) transceiver for aligning a time offset (TO) of RF signals transmitted to the RF transceiver by a user equipment (UE) includes first and second processors and first and second system memories. The first processor provides values of a cool-off period, a reset interval, a filter period, a first filter, and a primary threshold to the second processor. The second processor generates a second filter value, first and second threshold values, an instantaneous TO value, and a TO value. The second processor transmits a default TO value and a modified TO value as the TO value to the first processor during first and second time periods, respectively. The first processor generates a control signal based on the TO value. The second processor transmits the modified TO value to the UE based on the control signal.

System for alignment of RF signals

A gain control system for a gain stage of a wireless communication system includes a gain control module and a mode selection module. The gain control module is operable in automatic gain control (AGC) and manual gain control (MGC) modes. The mode selection module checks the presence of first user-data in the first sub-frame based on a received signal strength indication (RSSI) value and/or a decibel amplitude level relative to full scale (dBFS) value, the presence of second user-data in a second sub-frame subsequent to the first sub-frame based on an advance information, calculates an estimated signal power level, and configures the gain control module in one of the AGC and MGC modes. Based on the mode, the gain control module provides a gain value to the gain stage.

The communication unit comprises a receiver for receiving timing signals from a plurality of serving wireless communication units; a frequency synchronizing circuit operably coupled to the receiver for synchronizing an operating frequency of the communication unit to a serving wireless communication unit of the plurality of serving wireless communication units Control logic is capable of controlling the frequency synchronizing circuit to adjust an operating frequency of the communication unit. The control logic is arranged to distinguish between macro cell transmissions and femto cell transmissions and in response thereto selectively use or reject timing signals from the plurality of serving wireless communication units in adjusting the operating frequency of the wireless communication unit.
