The present invention advantageously provides a molding device with conductive material for creating a catheter balloon with conductive elements, and methods and systems for manufacturing the catheter balloon with conductive elements. An exemplary method for coupling a plurality of conductive elements to an expandable element may include placing a first portion of a mold proximate a second portion of the mold to define a casting cavity. Conductive material may be deposited into the casting cavity. Polymeric material may be inserted into the casting cavity. The first portion of the mold may be secured to the second portion of the mold. The polymeric material may be expanded to place the polymeric material in contact with the conductive material.

Method for applying conductors to catheter based balloons

This disclosure describes an implantable medical electrical lead and an ICD system utilizing the lead. The lead includes a lead body defining a proximal end and a distal portion, wherein at least a part of the distal portion of the lead body defines an undulating configuration. The lead includes a defibrillation electrode that includes a plurality of defibrillation electrode segments disposed along the undulating configuration spaced apart from one another by a distance. The lead also includes at least one electrode disposed between adjacent sections of the plurality of defibrillation sections. The at least one electrode is configured to deliver a pacing pulse to the heart and/or sense cardiac electrical activity of the heart.

Extravascular implantable electrical lead having undulating configuration

A method and pulsed field ablation (PFA) system configured to provide variable impedance paths for delivery of electric fields to patient tissue using a PFA catheter are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes determining a current for each of a plurality of circuit paths, each circuit path including two electrodes. Each current may be determined based at least in part on: a desired voltage between the two electrodes; a tissue impedance between the two electrodes; and a parasitic impedance associated with the circuit path. The method also includes determining at least one of an excitation voltage and an input resistance for each circuit path of the plurality of circuit paths based at least in part on the determined current for the circuit path, parasitic impedances associated with the circuit path and a tissue impedance between the two electrodes in the circuit path.

Variable impedance paths for delivery of electric fields

A lead body having a defibrillation electrode positioned along a distal portion of the lead body is described. The defibrillation electrode includes a plurality of electrode segments spaced a distance apart from each other. At least one of the plurality of defibrillation electrode segments includes at least one coated portion and at least one uncoated portion. The at least one coated portion is coated with an electrically insulating material configured to prevent transmission of a low voltage signal (e.g., a pacing pulse) while allowing transmission of a high voltage signal (e.g., a cardioversion defibrillation shock). The at least one uncoated portion is configured to transmit both low voltage and high voltage signals. The lead may also include one or more discrete electrodes proximal, distal or between the defibrillation electrode segments.

The present invention relates to a method, device, and system for improved mapping and/or ablation of a tissue. The device may generally include an elongate body and a distal assembly affixed to the elongate body that includes a treatment electrode having a conductive mapping region and a selectively conductive ablation region that is conductive of high-frequency current and substantially non-conductive of low-frequency current. Alternatively, the device may generally include a treatment electrode having a conductive mapping or ablation region and a region that is coated with an electrically insulated but thermally conductive layer.

A device, system, and method for optically evaluating and treating or ablating tissue. Specifically, device, system, and method allow for the optical and/or electrical evaluation of tissue at the same location(s) at which ablation or treatment or ablation energy is delivered. This allows for a more accurate evaluation of lesion formation and tissue condition before, during, and/or after a treatment or ablation procedure. In one embodiment, a device for performing a medical procedure includes an elongate body including a proximal portion, a distal portion having a distal end, and a longitudinal axis, and a distal tip electrode at the elongate body distal end, the tip electrode being optically transparent and electrically conductive. The device may also include optical windows in the elongate body aligned with one or more transparent lateral electrodes for optically interrogating tissue and/or for delivering treatment or ablation energy to tissue.

Ablation catheter with dual optical-electrical stimulation and sensing

An implantable medical lead having an elongated lead body extending from a proximal end to a distal end, at least one conductor extending within the lead body from the proximal end to the distal end, and a fixation member having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the electrode configured to be electrically coupled to the distal end of the lead body. The fixation member includes a first delivery port and a second delivery port for releasing a therapeutic agent from the fixation member to tissue of a patient, wherein the first delivery port is positioned along the proximal end of the fixation member to deliver the therapeutic agent to endothelial cells along an endothelial layer of tissue, and the second delivery port is positioned along the distal end of the fixation member and spaced a distance from the first delivery port to deliver the therapeutic agent to myocardial tissue within a myocardial layer of the tissue, and wherein no delivery ports are positioned within the distance that the second delivery port is spaced from the first delivery port.

The disclosure describes implantable medical systems that respond to occurrence of a lead-related condition by utilizing an elongated coil electrode in defining an alternative pacing therapy vector to maintain optimal drain of an IMD power supply. An exemplary system includes a medical electrical lead having an elongated electrode and an improved sensing and therapy delivery circuitry to provide the alternative pacing therapy vector responsive to the lead-related conditions. The system reconfigures the operation of the sensing and therapy delivery circuitry triggered by the switch to the alternative pacing therapy vector.
