An improved low profile light is provided. The low profile light includes one or more solid state light sources and a cover disposed in relation thereto, such that light emitted from the light sources passes through the cover. The low profile light also includes a driver, in a driver housing, that provides electrical power to the light sources. The low profile light also includes a housing. The housing includes a central portion with a first side and a second side; a lip that extends around an outer edge of the housing; a cover receptacle to receive the cover; an outer face that extends from the lip inward towards the cover receptacle; an inner surface that extends downward away from the central portion and upward towards the lip, so as to form a valley; and a fin that extends perpendicularly up from the central portion.

Low profile light with improved thermal management

LED lampincludes a housing, a mounting base, a light engine (LE), light-transmissive covercircumscribing the LE, and reflector. The LE comprises a plurality of top-emitting LED packages (TE-LED packages) mounted on planar upper surfaceof PC board, each configured to emit light having an angular distribution centered around a principal light-emitting direction (PLED) normal to an emission face. A first setof TE-LEDs is mounted with its PLED perpendicular to PCBand a second setof TE-LEDs is mounted to the PCB with its PLED orthogonal to that of the first setof TE-LEDs and parallel to upper surface. Reflectordisposed below LEreflects light towards cover. A polar light distribution of light emitted from LED lampis omnidirectional and is Energy Star compliant.

A safety switch for a lighting device is disclosed. The lighting device includes a plurality of solid state light sources and a housing encompassing these. The housing has a first end with a first end cap and an opening therein. A first set of pins extend from the first end cap, and are coupled to a first set of pin connectors. A movable actuator has a pair of electrical connectors that correspond to the first set of pin connectors and are coupled to the solid state light sources. A bridge that holds the pair of electrical connectors, and a holder extends from the bridge through the opening in the first end cap. The movable actuator is capable of movement between a closed position, which creates an electrical connection between the electrical connectors and the pin connectors, and an open position, wherein creates no such electrical connection.

A light guide () for a lamp includes a proximal end () configured to receive light from at least one LED. The received light forms an internal beam inside the light guide. The light guide angularly redistributes the LED light to have a specified angular output distribution. The light guide includes a distal end () having a peripheral portion (). The light guide has a longitudinal axis (A) extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The light guide includes a lateral side () extending from the proximal end () to the peripheral portion () of the distal end (). In a cross-section that includes the longitudinal axis, the lateral side of the light guide includes both a convex region and a concave region.

Arrangements of solid state light sources for color-mixing, and light sources including the same, are provided. A substrate has a plurality of different color LED chips coupled thereto. The emitted light is mixed to produce a white light output. The LED chips are arranged on the substrate in a manner that improves color-mixing, for example, by forming LED sets including one or more LED chips of different colors, by skewing the LED chips, and/or by forming a non-rectangular array or a circular array of LED sets and/or chips. The color-mixing LED arrangement may be used in a lamp or other light source together with collimating optics to collimate and further mix the color-mixed light output from the LED arrangement. The color-mixing LED arrangement may be provided as a single package with multiple LED chips or as multiple packages of one or more LED chips.
