In the method a weft thread which is supplied via a thread brake and a thread presenter is inserted into a shed by means of rapiers with a thread clamp, with the thread clamp being set in a freely selectable manner for each weft insertion during the weft insertion. A control curve is calculated for controlling the yarn tension including warp and weft yarn tensions in a weaving loom by comparing a previously determined yarn tension curve with a desired value for the yarn tension curve. The control characteristic is optimized by continuous iteration. A further optimization of the yarn tension curve takes place by taking account of variable parameters in the yarn tension curve, for example yarn breakage analysis, beat-up force of the reed, and/or shed change. The control device for performing the method can be implemented with conventional logic. Method of controlling the yarn tension in a weaving machine

A sensor for detecting the stress profile of a thread that has moved. The sensor contains a signal generator, a thread guiding member and a body of resilient material. The signal generator is resiliently mounted in a vibration damping manner and in the manner of a cantilever in a body. Through this mounting arrangement the influence through mechanical action and also the influence of the thermal expansion caused by heat as a result of the heating up caused by the running thread are largely cancelled and thus measurement errors are avoided.

A warp tension measuring apparatus for weaving machines or looms has a force sensor or pick-up (3) and a member (2) which is in active communication with the force sensor (3) to transfer a force acting on the members (2) onto the force sensor. The force sensor (3) is provided with a resilient element (9) to improve the introduction of force, on the one hand, and to damp mechanical oscillations, on the other hand.

Warp tension measuring apparatus

A system and method for regulating the cloth fell position in a loom. The desired lengths of cloth and warp thread are determined by averaging the actual values over a given number of weft insertions. The actual lengths of the cloth and warp thread are then continuously measured and compared with the desired values during weaving to compute warp and cloth offset values. A correction factor is determined based on the offset values and the moduli of elasticity of the warp thread and cloth. The cloth fell position is then corrected by adjusting either the actual length of the cloth or the warp thread based on the correction factor.

System and method for regulating the cloth fell position in a loom

The position of the fell of a cloth being woven on a weaving machine is sensed with a sensor needle that can be moved into and out of the cloth at a location proximate the fell during interruption of the weaving operation. Upon insertion of the sensor needle into the cloth, it moves with the cloth and therewith measures cloth displacement while the weaving machine is at rest. The sensor needle is attached to an actuation device capable of reciprocating the needle into and out of the cloth. The sensor needle is inductively coupled to a distance sensor which measures the needle displacement and therewith the displacement of the fell. In this manner, fell displacements caused, for example, by such factors as the relaxation of the run of cloth or of the warp yarn while the weaving machine is at rest can be measured and, before weaving is restarted, the position of the cloth, and therewith of the fell, can be corrected.

The weft yarn insertion mechanism exhibits at the side of the shed (6) where the weft yarn comes out a yarn holder device (13) for taking over and releasing the end (4') of the weft yarn, which comprises essentially two gripping parts (16, 17) and one nozzle (18). Preferably the one gripping part (16) is stationary and the other gripping part (17) movable and together they form a wedge shaped gripping gap (24). A blowing nozzle or suction nozzle (18) sucks or blows the end (4') of the end of the weft yarn into the gripping gap (24) at the moment when the weft insertion is finished. Upon blowing or respectively sucking the end (4') of the weft yarn into the gripping gap (24) by the impulse from the compressed air from the blowing nozzle (18) or respectively by the impulse from the suction into the suction nozzle, the end (4') of the weft yarn jams or wedges automatically as soon as that force of tension becomes effective in the weft yarn (4), which is built up in the weft yarn upon being braked by the yarn stopper (11) fitted at the weft insertion side. An actuator mechanism (20) acting upon the movable gripping part (17) releases the end of the weft yarn during or respectively after the beat up of the weft yarn (4') into the weave (10). The weft yarn device enables a considerable reduction in/ the consumption of air and waste of yarn.

The weft break stop motion (1) detects without contact a potential displacement in the feeler (5a) effected by a weft thread moving past by means of a plate-like layered sensor element (2). With the feeler (5a) turned towards the weft thread insertion, the sensor element (2) can be introduced between the drop wires (23) of the reed (18). The weft break stop motion (1) and the sensor element (2) can be variably positioned along the reed (18), depending on the screen of the drop wires (23), and is normally placed directly outside the warp threads according to the loom width.
