Injection device for introducing a urea solution into the exhaust tract of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to an injection device, in particular for injecting fluid into an exhaust tract of an internal combustion engine, having a valve unit which comprises a valve needle, an injection chamber having at least one injection opening, and a control chamber, wherein the injection device is designed so that a pressure differential between the injection chamber and the control chamber brings about a displacement of the valve needle between an open position in which the valve needle releases a fluid flow through the injection opening, and a closed position in which the valve needle closes off the injection opening. The injection device also has a pump unit integrated in the injection device. The pump unit is designed so as to draw in fluid from the fluid inlet during operation and to provide said fluid to the valve unit under increased pressure.

The invention relates to a method for identifying a blockage of one or more spray openings of a dosing valve of an SCR catalytic converter system. Said method comprises the closure of the dosing valve, the determination of a first pressure profile in the hydraulic system in the delivery module of the SCR catalytic converter system, and the determination of the stiffness of the hydraulic system from the first pressure profile. The dosing valve is subsequently opened, a second pressure profile in the hydraulic system in the delivery module of the SCR catalytic converter system is determined, and a blockage of one or more spray openings of the dosing valve is determined from the stiffness and from the second pressure profile.

A fuel injection apparatus has a high-pressure pump and a fuel-supply pump that delivers fuel from a fuel tank to the high-pressure pump. The high-pressure pump has a housing with an internal chamber that contains a drive unit for at least one pump element having a pump piston driven by the drive unit and delimiting a pump working chamber into which fuel is supplied via an inlet during an intake stroke and from which fuel is displaced via an outlet into the reservoir during a delivery stroke of the pump piston. The fuel-supply pump delivers fuel into the internal chamber via a connection that contains a check valve which opens toward the internal chamber of the housing and the inlet of the pump working chamber is connected to the internal chamber.

A high-pressure pump having a rotationally driven drive shaft and at least one pump element which has a pump piston driven at least indirectly in a reciprocating motion by the drive shaft which piston is guided in a cylinder bore and with its end remote from the drive shaft defines a pump work chamber. The pump piston is braced at least indirectly on the drive shaft. Extending through the pump piston is at least one line which discharges at the circumference of the pump piston in the cylinder bore spaced apart from the end of the pump piston that defines the pump work chamber and which leads toward the drive shaft to the region where the pump piston is braced.

High-pressure pump for a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine

A fuel injector having a piezoelectric actuator in an injector body and held in contact with the injector body on one side and with a sleevelike booster piston on the other via first spring means. A nozzle body joined to the injector body and a stepped nozzle needle is guided in the body. A second spring disposed inside the booster piston which together with the injection pressure acting on the back side of the nozzle needle keeps the nozzle needle in the closing position. A control chamber on the end toward the nozzle needle of the booster piston communicates, via at least one leakage gap with a fuel supply at injection pressure, and the nozzle needle is urged in the opening direction by the fuel located in the control chamber. The booster piston actuated by the piezoelectric actuator is spatially associated directly with the nozzle needle so that the nozzle needle is fitted, with a rear region that has a larger diameter than a region of the nozzle needle toward the nozzle outlet, into the inner chamber of the booster piston.

Injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, especially direct-injection diesel engines

A fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine, having two valve elements each having a hydraulic control surface acting in the closing direction and associated with a hydraulic control chamber. A control valve influences the pressure in the control chamber, and loading devices act on the valve elements in the opening direction. The valve elements react at different hydraulic opening pressures prevailing in the control chamber. The control valve is able to set at least three different pressure levels in the control chamber: all of the valve elements are closed at a comparatively high pressure level; one valve element is open at a medium pressure level; and all of the valve elements are open at a comparatively low pressure level.

A fuel injection valve in which a pistonlike outer valve needle is disposed longitudinally displaceably in a bore and cooperates with a valve seat to control at least one injection opening. A control chamber regulatable by a valve is provided and pressure in the control chamber exerts a closing force at least indirectly on the outer valve needle in the direction of the valve seat. A pressure face embodied on the outer valve needle is acted upon by the pressure in a pressure chamber, which is embodied between the outer valve needle and the wall of the bore and extends as far as the valve seat, so that an opening force on the outer valve needle results that is oriented counter to the closing force. An inner valve needle is guided in the outer valve needle and controls at least one additional injection opening and is acted upon by the pressure in the control chamber at least indirectly in the direction of the valve seat.

A stroke-controlled valve as a fuel metering device of an injection system for internal combustion engines has a valve body with a valve seat and a valve needle which is actuatable in the valve body counter to the resistance of a valve needle restoring spring and which has a sealing edge that cooperates with the valve seat. A coupling body with a greater mass than the valve needle is disposed in the valve body, in the axial extension of the valve needle, and is movable coaxially to the valve needle and is actuatable by the valve needle during the opening stroke of the valve needle.

The fuel injection system has one high-pressure fuel pump and one fuel injection valve, communicating with it, for each cylinder of the engine. The fuel pump piston is driven in by the engine and defines a pump work chamber communicating with a pressure chamber of the fuel injection valve. The fuel injection valve has a first hollow injection valve member movable in an opening direction counter to a closing force by the pressure prevailing in the pressure chamber to control at least one first injection opening. A pump work chamber can be made to communicate with a pressure chamber of the injection valve having a valve member movable by pressure in the pressure chamber to control opening of at least one injection opening. A connection of the pump with a relief chamber is controlled by a first electrically actuated control valve, and a second control valve controls the pressure in a control pressure chamber, which pressure urges the injection valve in the closing direction. A blocking valve is disposed in the connection of the pump with the pressure chamber, and the connection of the pump with the relief chamber, in which the first control valve is disposed, leads away between the pump and the blocking valve.
