Systems and methods presented herein generally relate to greenhouse gas emission management and, more particularly, to greenhouse gas emission management systems and methods for performing greenhouse gas detection sensor placement planning, leakage source tracing, and quantification of leakage source detections for oil and gas production facilities.

Method and apparatus for methane leakage detection

A technique facilitates the inflow of desired fluids into a downhole well completion while restricting the inflow of undesirable fluids. The technique utilizes at least one autonomous inflow control device which is placed along a well completion to control inflow of fluid from an exterior to an interior of the well completion. The autonomous inflow control device utilizes a plurality of shiftable elements which automatically shift in their relative positions based on the density of fluid in the autonomous inflow control device. This automatic shifting causes the alignment or misalignment of flow openings so as to allow free flow of a desired fluid through the autonomous inflow control device and into the interior of the completion while automatically restricting flow of an undesirable fluid.

Autonomous inflow control device system and method

Decanter centrifuges and associated acceleration pipes and methods are provided. In accordance with an example, an acceleration pipe for use with a decanter centrifuge including a feed pipe and a screw conveyor having an acceleration chamber includes an acceleration pipe body adapted to be coupled to and rotate with the screw conveyor. The acceleration pipe body includes an acceleration pipe inlet and an acceleration pipe outlet. The acceleration pipe body defines an acceleration pipe flow path extending between the acceleration pipe inlet and the acceleration pipe outlet. The acceleration pipe body is adapted to receive a suspension at the acceleration pipe inlet from the feed pipe and to rotate the suspension, based on a corresponding rotation of the screw conveyor, prior to the suspension exiting the acceleration pipe outlet and being received by the acceleration chamber of the screw conveyor.

Decanter centrifuges and associated acceleration pipes and methods

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for determining the flow rate and fluid density in an electrical submersible pump (ESP) and controlling the ESP based on the flow rate and density. In one implementation, an ESP system includes an ESP, drive circuitry, a current sensor, a voltage sensor, and a processor. The ESP includes an electric motor. The drive circuitry is electrically coupled to the ESP and is configured to provide an electrical signal to power the ESP. The current sensor is configured to measure a current of the electrical signal. The voltage sensor is configured to measure a voltage of the electrical signal. The processor is configured to calculate speed of a shaft of the electric motor based on a frequency induced by rotation of the motor detected in the current. The processor is also configured to calculate a density of fluid in the ESP based on the speed.

Electrical submersible pump control

A mixer and method for mixing are provided. The mixer includes a housing including a fluid inlet, an additive inlet, and an outlet. The housing defines a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the fluid inlet, the additive inlet, and the outlet. The mixer also includes an impeller disposed in the mixing chamber. When rotated, the impeller pumps fluid through the fluid inlet. The mixer also includes a slinger disposed in the mixing chamber and configured to receive the fluid from the impeller and to receive an additive from the additive inlet. When rotated, the slinger slings the fluid and the additive radially outwards. The mixer further includes a flush line extending between the mixing chamber and the additive inlet. The flush line is receives, from the mixing chamber, a portion of the fluid pumped by the impeller and to deliver the portion of the fluid to the additive inlet.

Mixing apparatus with flush line and method

Systems and methods presented herein generally relate to greenhouse gas emission monitoring and, more particularly, to a greenhouse gas emission monitoring workflow using various different types of sensors. For example, a system includes a plurality of sensors located within an oil and gas worksite. At least one sensor of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect a status of equipment at the oil and gas worksite. The system also includes a greenhouse gas emission analysis system configured to receive sensor data from the plurality of sensors. The greenhouse gas emission analysis system is also configured to correlate the sensor data from the plurality of sensors (e.g., using one or more reduced order models (ROMs) that reduce the computational complexity of computational fluid dynamics model simulations of previously collected data relating to operation of the oil and gas worksite). The greenhouse gas emission analysis system is further configured to determine an existence of a greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite, a location of the greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite, and a quantity of the greenhouse gas emission within the oil and gas worksite based at least in part on the correlation.

Greenhouse gas emission monitoring systems and methods

A substantially continuous stream of aqueous fluid and a substantially continuous stream of gel having a first concentration are combined to form a substantially continuous stream of gel having a second concentration. The second concentration is substantially lower than the first concentration. The gel having the second concentration may thereafter be utilized in conjunction with a well fracturing operation.

Hydration systems and methods

A technique facilitates improved control over inflowing fluids with respect to, for example, a screen assembly or screen assemblies of a tubing string deployed in a wellbore. The improved control may be provided by at least one inflow control device comprising a housing defining a chamber having a first end and a second end through which fluid may flow. Additionally, the inflow control device comprises at least one inlet passage disposed at the first end and having a contour which provides a desired effect on the inflowing fluid according to the type of fluid, e.g. according to the viscosity of the fluid. The contour may comprise an expanding cross-sectional area, e.g. a cone or other expanding shape. In some embodiments, the entrance of the inlet passage may have a rounded edge to, for example, create an initially decreasing and then increasing cross-sectional area along the inlet passage.

Autonomous inflow control device

A choke for fluid connection between a manifold and a pump. The choke includes a fluid passage having an inlet, a contraction portion, a throat, an expansion portion, and an outlet. The inlet has a first diameter and the outlet has a second diameter. The throat is substantially cylindrical, having a third diameter that is substantially less than the first and second diameters. The contraction portion connects the inlet and the throat and gradually decreases from the first diameter to the third diameter along a longitudinal axis of the fluid passage. The expansion portion connects the throat and the outlet and includes a substantially cylindrical chamber having the second diameter.

Pressure-reducing choke assembly

A conduit forming part of a drilling fluid return path from a wellbore has at least one flow restrictor disposed on an interior surface of the conduit. A drill string is disposed through the interior of the conduit and has at least one flow restrictor disposed on an exterior surface of the drill string. The drill string is longitudinally movable through the conduit to enable placing the flow restrictor in the conduit, and the flow restrictor on the drill string at a selected longitudinal distance from each other.

Aligned disc choke for managed pressure drilling

An apparatus that is usable with a well includes a housing and a body. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet, and a fluid flow is communicated between the inlet and outlet. The body disposed inside the housing to form a fluid restriction for the fluid flow. The body includes an opening therethrough to divert a first portion of the fluid flow into a first fluid flow path; and a first surface to at least partially define the first fluid flow path. The body is adapted to move to control fluid communication through the first flow path based at least in part on at least one fluid property of the flow.

Flow control device for a well

An apparatus includes an inflow control device that is disposed in a well and is adapted to receive a flow. The inflow control device includes a chamber, an outlet and at least one inlet. The chamber has a first end, a second end, and a cross-section of the chamber decreases along a length of the chamber. The outlet is disposed at the second end of chamber. The inlet has a cross-sectional dimension and is adapted to, in response to the received flow, inject a flow into the chamber near the first end of the chamber such that a fluid flow is produced inside the chamber that rotates and translates in a direction along the length of the chamber toward the outlet.

Inflow control device

Methods and apparatus for obtaining data from a density-viscosity (DV) sensor of a downhole tool, wherein the DV sensor comprises a resonating element disposed in a fluid flowing in a flowline of the downhole tool, and determining a resonance frequency and quality factor of the resonating element utilizing a nonlinear regression and/or a plurality of resonance modes exhibited by the obtained data.
