In an FED (Field Emission Display), lowering of a color temperature is suppressed which is caused by that light emission luminance of respective color phosphors is different from each other so as to achieve a better white balance. A display apparatus is equipped with a cathode substrate containing a plurality of electron emitter elements, and an anode substrate. The anode substrate is arranged opposite to the cathode substrate, and contains three colors of red, green, blue phosphors which are excited by electrons emitted from the electron emitter elements so as to emit light. Then, an area of either the red phosphor or an area of the blue phosphor is made smaller than an area of the green phosphor.

Field emission display apparatus with improved white balance

A projection type cathode ray tube includes a phosphor screen, a cathode, G1, G2 and a main lens composed of first, second and third electrodes. The first and third electrodes are supplied with an anode voltage of the phosphor screen, and the second electrode is supplied with a focus voltage lower than the anode voltage. An inside diameter of an opening in a phosphor screen side end of the second electrode is from 14 mm to 18 mm, and the phosphor screen side end of the second electrode is disposed within the third electrode. Projection type cathode ray tube having improved focus characteristics

In an electron gun including a cathode, a control electrode, an acceleration electrode Ga focusing electrode Gand an anode, longitudinally elongated concave SL-V which surround an electron beam aperture G-H and have a long axis in the vertical direction is formed at a focusing electrode Gside of the acceleration electrode Gand an electron beam aperture G-BH formed at the acceleration electrode Gside of the focusing electrode Gis formed in a longitudinally elongated shape having a long axis in the vertical direction. Due to such a constitution of the present invention, non-uniformity of the beam spot shape attributed to a deflection quantity can be reduced whereby the optimum focusing can be realized over the whole area of a screen.

A color cathode ray tube has excellent focusing characteristics over the whole screen thereof, as well as a total length which is short, thus providing a compact monitoring device. The Cathode ray tube has an electron gun in which the ratio between the diagonal size De of a phosphor screen and the distance Lg from the center of the phosphor screen to an end portion of a focusing electrode which forms a main lens portion of the electron gun and faces an anode electrode in an opposed manner is set to De/Lg>1.5. The focusing electrode and the anode electrode have single opening portions whose opening size in the horizontal direction is not less than 68% of the outer diameter of a neck portion and end surfaces of the opening portions face each other in an opposed manner in the tube axis direction along which the electron beams pass.

Color cathode ray tube with wide deflection angle

A color cathode ray tube includes third, fourth and fifth electrodes and an anode in its electron beam focusing section. A first-type electrostatic quadrupole lens is formed between first and second members of the fifth electrode for focusing electron beams in one of horizontally and vertically and diffusing the electron beams in the other of horizontally and vertically increasingly with decreasing beam deflection, and a second-type electrostatic quadrupole lens is formed between first and second members of the third electrode for focusing the electron beams in the other of horizontally and vertically and diffusing the electron beams in the one of horizontally and vertically increasingly with the decreasing beam deflection, and an electron lens is formed between the fourth electrode and a first aperture formed in a first surface of the second member of the third electrode adjacent to the fourth electrode, the first surface being on a side of the second member of the third electrode opposite from the fourth electrode, for diffusing the electron beams horizontally and focusing the electron beams vertically increasingly with the decreasing beam deflection.

Color cathode ray tube having electrostatic quadrupole lenses

A color cathode ray tube includes an evacuated envelope formed of a panel portion having a phosphor screen on an inner surface thereof and housing a shadow mask, a neck portion and a funnel portion connecting the panel portion and the neck portion, and an in-line electron gun housed in the neck portion. The in-line electron gun includes a main lens and an electrostatic quadrupole lens. The focus electrode of the electron gun has a single opening at one end thereof for passing the three electron beams and opposes an anode to form a main lens therebetween. The single opening has a diameter larger in a horizontal direction than a diameter thereof in a vertical direction. A distance from the main lens to the phosphor screen is not larger than 300 mm, a vertical mask aperture pitch on a vertical center line of the shadow mask is not larger than 0.28 mm at a center of the shadow mask, and an outer diameter T of the neck portion housing the in-line electron gun satisfies the following inequality 23.2 mm&lE;T&lE;25.9 mm, and a value D of twice a distance from a center of a trajectory of a side electron beam of the three electron beams to a horizontal edge of the single opening satisfies the following inequality 5.0 mm&lE;D&lE;6.5 mm.

Color cathode ray tube having a small neck diameter

A color cathode ray tube includes a three-color phosphor screen, a shadow mask spaced from the phosphor screen and a three-beam type electron gun. The main lens section includes a focus electrode and an anode facing the focus electrode, each of the focus electrode and the anode has an electrode having a single opening common for three electron beams in an end thereof facing each other and a plate electrode disposed therein. The focus electrode is formed of at least one first sub-electrode adapted to be supplied with a first focus voltage and at least one second sub-electrode adapted to be supplied with a second focus voltage, one of the at least one first sub-electrode and the at least one second sub-electrode faces the anode. The second focus voltage is a fixed voltage superposed with a dynamic voltage varying with beam deflection, and an electrostatic quadrupole lens is formed between a first one of the at least one first sub-electrode and a first one of the at least one second sub-electrode. An inequality V >H&minus;2&times;S is satisfied, where V and H are vertical and horizontal diameters of the single opening, respectively, S is P&times;L/Q, P is a horizontal center-to-center spacing between adjacent phosphor elements at a center of the phosphor screen, Q is an axial spacing between the phosphor screen and the shadow mask at the center of the phosphor screen, and L is an axial distance between the shadow mask and the single opening in the focus electrode.

A focus electrode is constituted by a first type of focus electrode group to which a first focus voltage is applied, and a second type of focus electrode group to which a second focus voltage is applied. Between the first type of focus electrode group and the second type of focus electrode group are formed a lens at least having a lens action for correcting the field curvature and an electrostatic quadrupole lens. The center axes of the outer electron beam passage holes in the first type of focus electrode forming the lens at least having a lens action for correcting the field curvature are deviated on a horizontal plane from the center axes of the outer electron beam passage holes in the second type of focus electrode. The electrostatic quadrupole lens produces dissimilar intensities for the outer electron beams and for the center electron beam. Therefore, the outer electron beam passage holes work to deflect the outer electron beams toward the center electron beam with an increase in the deflecting amount of the electron beams, and a favorable resolution is obtained on the whole screen of the cathode-ray tube.

Color cathode-ray tube having electrostatic quadrupole lens exhibiting different intensities for electron beams

A color cathode-ray tube including a main lens section comprising an anode to which an anode voltage is applied, and a focus electrode. The focus electrode has first type of focus electrode group to which a first focus voltage is applied, and a second type of focus electrode group to which a second focus voltage is applied which is obtained by superposing on a predetermined voltage a voltage that changes depending upon the deflecting amount of the electron beams. Between the first type of focus electrode group and the second type of focus electrode group are formed in a dynamic lens and an electrostatic quadrupole lens. Three electron beam passage holes are formed in the electrodes that form the dynamic lens and the centers for the outer electron beam passage holes in the first type of focus electrode group are deviated relative to the centers of the outer electron beam passage holes in the second type of focus electrode group in the horizontal direction. The electrostatic quadrupole lens exhibits different intensities for the outer electron beams relative to the center electron beam.

A color cathode ray tube includes a phosphor screen, an electron beam generating section for generating three in-line electron beams, a focus electrode and an anode. The focus electrode includes a first focus and second focus sub-electrodes on this order from the cathode structure. The first focus sub-electrode has plural vertical parallel plate-like electrodes arranged to sandwich respective beam apertures in an end thereof facing the second focus sub-electrode in a direction of a beam arrangement, and the second focus sub-electrode has plural horizontal parallel plate-like electrodes arranged to sandwich beam apertures in an end thereof facing the first focus sub-electrode in a direction perpendicular to the beam arrangement, one of the first and second focus sub-electrodes is adapted to be supplied with a voltage varying in synchronism with beam deflection. The vertical parallel plate-like electrodes extend into a space defined by the horizontal parallel plate-like electrodes, and a vertical spacing V between the horizontal parallel plate-like electrodes and a gap L between the horizontal parallel plate-like electrodes and the edges of the vertical parallel plate-like electrodes satisfy 0.38&lE;L/(V/2)&lE;0.58.
