A varnish comprising a ground substance consisting of a polymer or oligomer of 200 to 50'104 molecular weight or organic compound of 200 to 1000 molecular weight and a solvent containing a good solvent and a poor solvent whose boiling point (under 760 mmHg) is at least 20&#xb0; C. lower than that of the good solvent, wherein the ground substance is dissolved in the solvent. Any thin film prepared from this varnish is substantially from generation of foreign matter, so that it can appropriately be used as thin films for electronic devices and those for use in other technical fields.

Varnish containing good solvent and poor solvent

A varnish containing a charge-transporting organic material and a solvent is used as a charge-transporting varnish. The charge-transporting organic material is composed of a charge-transporting substance comprising a charge-transporting monomer, or charge-transporting oligomer or polymer having a number average molecular weight of 200 to 500,000, or is composed of such a charge-transporting substance and an electron- or hole-accepting dopant substance. The solvent contains at least one type of high-viscosity solvent having a viscosity of 10 to 200 mPa&#xb7;s at 20&#xb0; C. The charge-transporting substance or the charge-transporting organic material is dissolved or uniformly dispersed in the solvent. The varnish has a high uniform film forming capability even in a system using a charge-transporting substance of low molecular weight and a charge-accepting dopant substance. When the varnish is used in, particularly an OLED device or PLED device, excellent EL device characteristics, namely a low drive voltage, a high luminance efficiency, and a long life are realized.

Charge-transporting varnish

Disclosed is a charge-transporting varnish containing a charge-transporting organic material, a good solvent, at least one poor solvent with high leveling properties, and at least one volatile poor solvent. The charge-transporting organic material is composed of a charge-transporting material consisting of a charge-transporting monomer or a charge-transporting oligomer having a number average molecular weight of 200 to 5000, or alternatively composed of such a charge-transporting material and an electron-accepting dopant material or a hole-accepting dopant material. This charge-transporting varnish enables to form a uniform and smooth charge-transporting thin film by a spray method or an ink jet method on an exposed electrode portion such as ITO or IZO of a substrate on which a structure of a simple or complicated pattern is formed beforehand.

Charge-transporting varnish for spray or ink jet application

A charge-transporting varnish containing either a charge-transporting substance consisting of a charge-transporting oligoaniline or a charge-transporting organic material consisting of the charge-transporting substance and a charge-accepting dopant and at least one polymer selected from among polyimides and polyimide precursors; and charge-transporting thin films and organic EL devices, made by using the varnish. The varnish can give thin films which little suffer from defects and have high uniformity and flatness and excellent mechanical strengths, heat resistance, and transparency. In particular, the varnish realizes excellent EL characteristics such as low driving voltage, high emission efficiency, and long service life, when used in organic EL devices.

Charge-transporting varnish and organic electro-luminescent devices made by using the same

Provided is an electrode patterning layer used for forming an electrode pattern of any optional shape depending on the difference in wettability with an electrode-forming solution, the electrode patterning layer employing a polyimide type resin which is highly reliable as an electronic material. The electrode patterning layer is prepared by irradiating a layer comprising a polyamic acid having repeating units at the formula (1) or a polyimide obtainable by cyclodehydration of such a polyamic acid, with ultraviolet ray in a pattern shape: wherein A is a tetravalent organic group, B is a bivalent organic group, each of A and B may be of a single type or plural types, and n is a positive integer, provided that at least one type of A is a tetravalent organic group having an alicyclic structure.

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an electronic circuit component such as an organic TFT, which can manufacture an electronic circuit component excellent in reliability and having quality on a practical level, because an insulating layer and a conductive layer which have more excellent characteristics can be formed, particularly, on a general-purpose plastic substrate or the like by treatment at a process temperature of 200&#xb0; C. or lower which has no influence on the above-mentioned plastic substrate. The method for manufacturing an electronic circuit component according to the invention includes heating a layer containing at least one of a polyimide and a precursor thereof at a temperature of 200&#xb0; C. or lower to form an insulating layerhaving a contact angle with water of 80&#xb0; or more, forming a coating film including a dispersion containing metal nanoparticles on the above-mentioned insulating layerand heating the above-mentioned coating film at a temperature of 200&#xb0; C. or lower to form a conductive layer such as a source layeror a drain layer

Method for manufacturing electronic circuit component

An excellent EL device having low driving voltage, high luminous efficiency and long life can be obtained by using a charge-transporting thin film composed of a charge-transporting varnish which contains an arylsulfonic acid compound represented by the formula (1) or (2) below as an electron-acceptor material especially in an OLED device or a PLED device. [In the formulae, X represents O, S or NH; A represents a naphthalene ring or anthracene ring having a substituent other than X and n SOH groups; B represents a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon group, 1,3,5-triazine group or a substituted of unsubstituted group represented by the following formula (3) or (4): (wherein Wand Weach independently represents O, S, an S(O) group, an S(O) group, or a substituted or unsubstituted N, Si, P or P(O) group); n indicates the number of sulfonic acid groups bonded to A which is an integer satisfying 1&#x2266;n&#x2266;4; q indicates the number of B&#x2014;X bonds which is an integer satisfying 1&#x2266;q; and r indicates the number of recurring units which is an integer satisfying 1&#x2266;r.].

Arylsulfonic acid compound and use thereof as electron-acceptor material

A charge-transporting organic material containing a compound with a 1,4-dithiin ring, which is represented by the following formula (1), is described. When using a thin film made of such an organic material in a low-molecular-weight organic EL (OLED) element and a polymer organic EL (PLED) element, EL element characteristics such as low drive voltage and high luminous efficiency can be improved. In addition, a charge-transporting varnish containing the compound with a 1,4-dithiin ring represented by the above formula (1) has good processing properties, and a thin film obtained therefrom has high charge-transporting characteristics and thus is effective for application to protective films for capacitor electrodes, antistatic films, solar cells or fuel cells.

Using a charge transporting organic compound made of a polymer whose polymer main chain has a fluorene derivative, which is substituted with an amino group having an aromatic ring or heterocyclic ring, connected thereto at the 9 position thereof, e.g. a compound represented by the following formula (1), in a charge transporting thin film, the resulting organic EL element ensures low voltage drive, a high luminance, a very long life and no imperfections.

A charge-transporting varnish is disclosed which comprises a charge-transporting material composed of an oligoaniline compound represented by the formula (1) below and at least one kind of solvent. In this charge-transporting varnish, the charge-transporting material is dissolved or homogeneously dispersed in the solvent. By using this varnish, a charge-transporting thin film having excellent conductive characteristics can be formed through a short-time firing. In particular, when the varnish is applied to an OLED element or a PLED element, the resulting element can achieve excellent element characteristics such as low driving voltage, high luminous efficiency and long life
