A unit cell that constitutes a fuel cell stack is obtained by sandwiching an electrolyte mem-brane/electrode structure with a cathode-side separator and an anode-side separator. A first resin member is provided along the entire periphery of the cathode-side separator in the outer peripheral portion of the cathode-side separator. Surfaces of the cathode-side separator are provided with sealing parts that cover a part of the first resin member and constitute a first sealing member.

Separator for fuel cells and method for producing same

A fuel cell includes a membrane electrode assembly, a separator, and a sealing member. The sealing member is provided on a separator surface and includes a base seal portion, a protruding seal portion, a first recessed portion, and a second recessed portion. The protruding seal portion protrudes from the base seal portion in a stacking direction so as to block leakage of at least one of a fuel gas, an oxidant gas, and a coolant which flow along the separator surface. The first recessed portion is disposed on a first side of the protruding seal portion. The second recessed portion is disposed on a second side of the protruding seal portion opposite to the first recessed portion. The first recessed portion and the second recessed portion have a height in the stacking direction smaller than a height of the base seal portion in the stacking direction.

Fuel cell

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack and a mounting section. The fuel cell stack is mounted on the mounting section with inclination. The fuel cell stack is formed by stacking a plurality of fuel cells in a vertical direction. An oxygen-containing gas in an oxygen-containing gas flow field and a fuel gas in a fuel gas flow field flow in a counterflow manner. In a front box of a vehicle, an inlet side of the fuel gas flow field is positioned above an outlet side of the fuel gas flow field with respect to a horizontal direction. In this state, the fuel cell stack is mounted on the mounting section. The fuel cell stack is inclined downward from the horizontal direction toward the back of the vehicle in a vehicle length direction.

Fuel cell system

A fuel cell stack includes a stack body formed by stacking a plurality of fuel cells in a stacking direction, and first and second end plates at both ends in the stacking direction. Long sides of the first and second end plates are fixed together by a pair of tightening members. The tightening member includes a bent portion bent in a direction along a surface of the second end plate, and coupled to the pressure application adjustment device, and a wide portion having a width extended toward the first end plate.

Fuel cell stack having tightening members

A fuel cell stack includes a plurality of fuel cells stacked together, and a pair of end plates provided at opposite ends the fuel cells in the stacking direction. Further, the fuel cell stack includes coupling members bridging between the end plates, holding mechanisms provided in side surfaces of the end plates and the coupling members for applying tension in a tightening direction, and fixing mechanisms for fixing the side surfaces of the end plates and the coupling members together. The holding mechanism has a pin member inserted into the side surface of the end plate and the coupling member. Further, the fixing mechanism has a screw for fixing the coupling member to the side surface of the end plate.

Fuel cell stack

A fuel cell stack including a plurality of fuel cells each formed by stacking separators and an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly. The electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly includes an electrolyte membrane provided with a pair of electrodes on the opposite sides thereof. A stacked body formed by stacking the fuel cells is provided with a pair of end plates at the opposite ends thereof in a stacking direction. The end plates are integrally fixed by fastening members with the distance between the end plates maintained. A load measurement mechanism including a plurality of load sensors integrally connected to a connector member is provided between one of the end plates and the stacked body. The one of the end plates is provided with a pressure mechanism. The pressure mechanism presses the load measurement mechanism toward the stacked body to thereby apply a tightening load to the stacked body via the load sensors.

A fuel cell stack includes a stack body formed by stacking a plurality of unit cells, and a casing including end plates. Components of the stack body are held together in the casing. Side plates and angle members of the casing form an outer profile line, and the end plates are positioned inside the outer profile line. Corners of insulating plates protrude outwardly beyond corners of the end plates, and are positioned inside the inner wall surfaces of the corners of the casing.

A coolant inlet manifold for coolant supply passages is attached to an end plate of a fuel cell stack. Pillars are provided on at least one end of the coolant inlet manifold in a longitudinal direction thereof. The pillars are fitted into through holes formed in the end plate, and are connected to a manifold body and to a connector.

A side plate of a casing includes bracket members and a surface member. Each of the bracket members includes three second coupling portions and a plate-shaped attachment portion provided integrally with the second coupling portions. A coupling pin is inserted into the second coupling portions. The surface member is joined to the plate-shaped attachment portion. The bracket member includes a step fitted to an end of the surface member. The plate-shaped attachment portion and the surface member are jointed at a spot welding section including spots in a zigzag pattern.

A fuel cell stack includes side plates of a casing. Flanges are provided on the side plates on the short sides for coupling the side plates on the short sides to the other side plates on the long sides. In each of the side plates, the center O of the coupling pin is offset from the neutral surface NS of the side plate in a direction away from a stack body by the distance 'h'.
