A sealing device for sealing a gap between inner and outer members includes a mounted part attached to a cylindrical end of the outer member; at least one lip disposed radial inside the mounted part and extending toward the inner member; an annular part covering an end surface of the end of the outer member; and an annular flange formed from an elastic material connected to the annular part and disposed radial outside the end of the outer member. The inner member includes an inner portion disposed radial inside the outer member; a flange extending radially outward from the inner portion; and a through-hole formed in the flange for inserting a screw for securing the inner member to another member. The outer edge of the flange of the sealing device is disposed radial outside a portion of the through-hole that is the closest to the central axis.

Sealing device and sealing structure

[Problem] To provide a sealing device that has a high function of stopping the entry of foreign matter. [Solution] Provided is a sealing device disposed between a rotating inner member and a fixed outer member of a rolling bearing, said sealing device comprising: an annular rotating seal member fixed to the inner member; and an annular seal cover fixed to an end portion of the outer member. The seal cover comprises: a fixed portion that is disposed in an interval between the outer member and the inner member and fixed to the end portion of the outer member; and a protective portion that is disposed radially outward of the rotating seal member and stops foreign matter from advancing to the rotating seal member from the outside. The rotating seal member comprises: an attachment portion fixed to the inner member; and a seal lip and a dust lip that extend from the attachment portion toward the seal cover. The dust lip extends obliquely radially outward from the attachment portion toward the seal cover.

Sealing device

In a sealing structure, a sealing device seals a space between a rotational body and a shaft. The sealing device includes an inner side seal portion, an outer side seal portion, and a dust cover. An inner side seal lip of the inner side seal portion extends from an inner side attachment ring toward an outer side and slidably abuts a contacted portion. The outer side seal portion includes the outer side seal lip, and a side lip on an outer peripheral side of the outer side seal lip, and the outer side seal lip and the side lip extend from the outer side attachment ring toward the outer side and slidably abut the dust cover. The dust cover forms a gap between the dust cover and a flange portion of a bracket to which the inner side attachment ring is attached.

Sealing structure

The object of the present invention is to effectively prevent the rust generation on a flange portion and to prevent the deformation of the flange portion due to the filling pressure of a molding material in the manufacture of a sealing device whereby a seal main body comprising a rubber-like elastic material and having a portion that covers both surfaces of the flange portion of a metal reinforcing ring is integrally formed on the reinforcing ring by means of a metal mold. To this end, the flange portion of the reinforcing ring is formed in advance with a shape which is distributed unevenly in the direction opposite the direction in which the flange portion is deformed from its original shape by the filling pressure of the molding material.

Method for manufacturing sealing device

The invention provides a sealing device having a sliding lip and a labyrinth lip, wherein the sealing device can inhibit the lip from being deformed as the lip even if the labyrinth lip is exposed to the foreign material in the machine outside and is swollen, thereby making the sliding lip protecting function hard to be lost. In order to achieve the object, in a sealing device having a sliding lip which seals so as to prevent foreign material in a machine outside from entering into a machine inside, and a labyrinth lip which makes the foreign material hard to reach the sliding lip, a notch portion for absorbing swelling of the labyrinth lip when the labyrinth lip is exposed to the foreign material and is swollen is provided in a leading end portion of the labyrinth lip.

To improve durability of a seal lip () of an oil seal () in slidably contact with the peripheral surface of a shaft (), a lubricating oil supply section () for collecting adhered oil and dropping it on the shaft () is provided at a forward end portion of an installation section (), the lubricating oil supply section () has projections () formed on the inner peripheral surface of the installation section () to collect oil on the surface thereof, the surface of each projection () has a recess () for temporarily accumulating oil, guidance projections, or a slope for collecting the oil, and dams are formed on a forward end face () of the installation section () to block the oil flowing down along the circumferential direction on the forward end face () and guides the oil toward each projection ().

Oil seal

To avoid interference of a side lip when plural sealing devices are piled up, a sealing device installed on one member of two members rotating relatively is constructed by combining a mounting ring fitted on the one member and a rubber-like elastic body attached on the mounting ring, and has a side lip formed by the elastic body, the mounting ring has a cylinder portion at a position fitted on the peripheral surface of the one member, the elastic body has a rubber step part provided at axially one side of the cylinder portion, the cylinder portion and the rubber step part have a positional relationship that the former of an upper sealing device is placed on the latter of the one sealing device when piled up, and the side lip of the one sealing device is dimensioned not to interfere with the upper sealing device even when they are in such a positional relationship.

A seal lip of an oil seal is in slidable contact with a peripheral surface of a shaft. A lubricating oil supply section for collecting adhered oil and dropping it on the shaft is provided at a forward end portion of an installation section. The lubricating oil supply section has projections formed on the inner peripheral surface of the installation section to collect oil on the surface thereof. The surface of each projection has a recess for temporarily accumulating oil. Guidance projections, or a slope for collecting the oil, and dams are formed on a forward end face of the installation section to block the oil flowing down along the circumferential direction on the forward end face and guides the oil toward each projection.

To improve performance without increasing size, a sealing device comprises a seal body () sealing a clearance () between the periphery of the shaft hole () of a housing () and a shaft () inserted into the shaft hole () and the sound insulating seal () insulating sound transmitted through the clearance (), the seal body () comprises a bellows part () between a mounting part () fitted to the housing () and a seal lip part () contacting with the shaft (), the sound insulating seal () comprises a sound insulating member () disposed at the inner peripheral side of the mounting part (), and the sound insulating member () is held to the seal body () in the state of contacting with the mounting part () at its outer peripheral part () and with the seal lip part () at its inner peripheral part ().

To reduce a sliding resistance to the rotation member, and whereby to reduce a torque, a thickness of an inner diameter side lip is formed to be larger than a thickness of an outer diameter side lip, and the outer diameter side lip is formed thinner than the inner diameter side lip in thickness. A depression for inhibiting both the lips from pulling at each other is provided between the inner diameter side lip and the grease lip. A bent portion for reducing a close contact load applied to a rotation member is provided in an intermediate portion in a longitudinal direction of the inner diameter side lip.
