A model (e.g., mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) model) representing an assembly is displayed in a graphical user interface (GUI). The assembly contains at least a first body and a second body. The physics type of the model is determined in response to an assignment of a physics condition to the first body and/or the second body. Contact-pairs are detected in the model according to the determined physics type. The GUI is updated to indicate where the contact-pairs are located in the model for revision of the contact-pairs. Markers are shown in the GUI to represent corresponding contact-pairs. Markers are logically separated from bodies and faces in the model. The revision of the contact-pairs can be managed with a filtering mechanism either by bodies/faces or by markers.

Methods and systems for identifying, filtering and classifying contact-pairs

Systems and methods are provided for executing a simulation of a physical system that includes a plurality of objects representing physical entities or phenomena. Parameters of objects currently present in a simulation are evaluated. When one of the parameters is in an invalid state, a first multi-layer context menu is provided having multiple selectable options on each layer on a graphical user interface, where a first layer includes a highlight indicating that an object needs fixed, and where a subsequent layer includes a highlight indicating an identity of the object that needs fixed. The objects currently present in the simulation are evaluated based on a task to be performed. When a required object for the task to be performed is missing from the simulation, a second multi-layer context menu having multiple selectable options on each layer is provided.

Systems and methods for executing a simulation of a physical system via a graphical user interface

Systems and methods are provided for providing a context-based search of simulation objects. A computer-readable medium configured for storage of objects and records associated with the objects is accessed, where the objects include a plurality of simulation objects and one or more container objects, where a container object is associated with a context of the engineering simulation, where a record associated its associated container record identifies one or more simulation objects that are associated with the container object. A graphical user interface is provided for display. The graphical user interface includes a first control for identifying a context of the simulation for search and a second control for identifying an object parameter for search. A container object is identified based on the identified context. Object parameters of the simulation objects associated with the identified container object are searched using the identified object parameter to identify matching simulation objects.
