A pump for liquid or slurry is valve controlled to fill a pumping chamber to an upper predetermined level; valve controlled to supply gas under pressure to the top of the liquid to force it out a lower outlet port down to a lower predetermined level and to alternate such cycles with all valves being located outside the chamber.

Slurry pump

An improved method for controlling combustion zone temperature in a furnace independent of flue gas oxygen content is disclosed. The method comprises supplying a carrier gas containing a fine mist of liquid water droplets to the furnace combustion zone to control the maximum temperature within the combustion zone. The invention is applicable to both multiple hearth furnaces and fluidized bed furnaces, protecting the refractory furnace lining from damage.

Furnace combustion zone temperature control method

Sludge or slurry is dewatered by passing it on a screw conveyor through a sealed vessel at a vacuum more negative than -10 inches of Hg. As a result, moisture is removed from the sludge or slurry as water vapor. The vessel is sealed from air by the presence of the sludge or slurry at the inlet and outlet port extents of the vessel.
