A system is presented for load balancing across media server instances. In an embodiment, media is broken out into a multi-tenanted service allowing the media to be scaled independently of the number of organizations supported on a cloud-based collaboration platform. Scaling may occur in a scaling-out or a scaling-in operation. States for a media service may comprise in-service, quiescing, quiesced, failed, etc. The states may be used to monitor sessions associated with an instance and determine which media instances to terminate during a scaling-in operation. In an embodiment, new instances may be added to a collection of media instances in response to an increased workload in a scaling-out operation.

Provided are methods and computer program products for analyzing transactions across a network and to help identify network performance issues. Methods for analyzing traffic include identifying an outbound transaction and a related transaction type, and identifying candidate inbound transactions that have the same transaction type as the transaction type of the outbound transaction. One or more transaction data parameters may be selected that correspond to the outbound or inbound transactions. Candidate transactions may be determined to be related to the outbound transaction based on one or more transaction data parameters.

Methods may include loading a collector application driver providing one or more dispatch functions corresponding to one or more system functions, each dispatch function operable to call a pre-hook function prior to calling a system function, to call the system function, and to call a post-hook function following the call to the system function. A metadata block in pinned kernel memory contains, for each system function, access descriptors to the system function and the pre- and/or post-hook functions for the system function. The dispatch functions are copied into the pinned kernel memory, and the operating system's access descriptors for the system functions are altered to instead point to the corresponding dispatch functions.
