A coalescing agent for three-dimensional (3D) printing includes a co-solvent, a surfactant having a hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) value that is less than 10, a carbon black pigment, a polymeric dispersant, and a balance of water. The co-solvent is present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 30 wt % of a total wt % of the coalescing agent. The surfactant is present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 1.4 wt % of the total wt % of the coalescing agent. The carbon black pigment is present in an amount ranging from about 3.0 wt % to about 6.0 wt % of the total wt % of the coalescing agent. The polymeric dispersant has a weight average molecular weight ranging from about 12,000 to about 20,000.

Coalescing agent for three-dimensional (3D) printing

A method of three-dimensional (3D) printing is provided. Print data is received, which defines patterns of at least one agent to be applied to a layer of build material. The print data is modified to add a further pattern of a detailing agent to be selectively applied to the layer of build material to generate fracture regions in a processed volume of build material.

Three dimensional (3D) printing using fusing and detailing agents

In an example, an apparatus for generating a three-dimensional object includes a build area platform, a build material distributor, a secondary material ejection device, a coalescing agent ejection device, and a controller. The controller may control the secondary material ejection device to eject a secondary material in a predefined pattern over the build area platform, control the build material distributor to distribute a layer of the build material around the ejected secondary material, control the coalescing agent ejection device to eject the coalescing agent onto the layer of the build material, and control an energy source to apply energy onto the ejected coalescing agent to cause the build material in contact with the ejected coalescing agent to coalesce and solidify.

Generating a three-dimensional object

A coalescing agent for three-dimensional (3D) printing includes a co-solvent, a surfactant having a hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) value that is less than 10, a carbon black pigment, a polymeric dispersant, and a balance of water. The cosolvent is present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to about 30 wt % of a total wt % of the coalescing agent. The surfactant is present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 1.4 wt % of the total wt % of the coalescing agent. The carbon black pigment is present in an amount ranging from about 3.0 wt % to about 6.0 wt % of the total wt % of the coalescing agent. A three-dimensional (3D) printing system includes a fabrication bed, a build material to be introduced into the fabrication bed, an inkjet applicator, a coalescing agent to be selectively introduced by the inkjet applicator onto the build material in the fabrication bed, and a radiation source to expose the coalescing agent and the build material in the fabrication bed to electromagnetic radiation. The coalescing agent includes a co-solvent having a boiling point of less than 300 C, a surfactant having a hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) value that is less than 10, a carbon black pigment, a polymeric dispersant, and a balance of water.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing system

A fluid-jet precision-dispensing device includes a layer, one or more first holes within the layer, and one or more second holes within the layer. The first holes are adapted to pass fluid therethrough during usage of the device to precisely dispense the fluid at accurately specified locations. The second holes are adapted to not pass the fluid therethrough during usage of the device to precisely dispense the fluid at the accurately specified locations. The second holes may be adapted to at least substantially maximally pass gaseous bubbles therethrough during performance of a priming operation of the device. The second holes may be adapted to at least substantially maximally pass sludge and/or contaminants therethrough during performance of the priming operation of the device.

A method for improving gloss of a print includes configuring a printing system to deposit ink drops from a plurality of inks in an ink set onto a print surface. During the depositing, the printing system is further configured to control micro-coalescence of the ink drops. The micro-coalescence is controlled by i) depositing the ink drops onto the print surface according to a predefined order of color based upon solids content, ii) adjusting a number of printing passes, iii) adjusting a delay time between the printing passes, and/or iv) depositing different amounts of the ink drops onto the print surface during different printing passes.

Method for improving gloss of a print

Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to control gloss quality in printed images are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus includes a print engine to print a plurality of images for respective ones of a plurality of colors, each image representing a plurality of different print parameter combinations, a scan module to measure a first plurality of light reflectances for respective ones of the plurality of images and the print parameter combinations, and a calibrator to calibrate an operation of the print engine for respective ones of the plurality of colors based on the first plurality of measured light reflectances, the operations of the print engine including at least one of an order of ink application, a rate of ink application, a density of ink application, or an applied amount of gloss enhancer.

Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to control gloss quality

The present invention includes as one embodiment a fluid ejection device for printing ink on a print media, including a flexible circuit with electrical traces, a coverlayer covering the electrical traces and adhering the flexible circuit to the fluid ejection device and at least one mechanical feature located on an outer edge of the flexible circuit near the electrical traces.

Limiting unwanted ink penetration of flexible circuits of fluid ejection devices

Electrical operation signals such are transferred between a printer carriage interconnect circuit and a printhead interconnect circuit through conductive pads, some of which are elongated sufficiently to provide multiple conductive contact points. Positioning the elongated pads at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of an interconnect flex circuit results in a compact flex circuit having voltage, ground and control signal pads.

Reliable flex circuit interconnect on inkjet print cartridge

An inkjet printing system having multiple independent power supplies for providing firing energy to the ink ejection elements of one or more printheads. Different ones of the power supplies can be connected to different print cartridges each of which prints a different color ink; to different arrays of ink ejection elements within a single print cartridge, where each array prints a different color ink; or to different sections of the ink ejection element array of a single printhead for a single color ink. The output of each power supply is independently set to an appropriate voltage level for each different print cartridge, ink ejection element array, or section of an array.

Independent power supplies for color inkjet printers

An interconnection arrangement for an inkjet printing system having multiple power pads, each of which provides power for driving a large number of printhead ink ejection elements. The ink ejection elements of a print cartridge are organized into groups, with power provided to each group by one of the power pads. The firing pulse width of each group is independently set to compensate for the parasitic electrical resistances in the power path of each ink ejection group in the print cartridge so as to eject ink drops of uniform volume required for high quality printed output. In order to transmit the relatively high current levels required to fire a large number of ink ejection elements from a single group at the same time, the interconnection scheme provides multiple bump-and-dimple interconnections with the printer for each power and ground pad on the print cartridge.

Multiple power interconnect arrangement for inkjet printhead

A process for producing defect free multilayer printed circuit boards using low pressure lamination with a cyanate ester laminate. Alternate layers of cyanate ester core and prepreg materials are stacked and at least partially cured under pressure and elevated temperatures to produce a multilayer laminated printed circuit board. The use of a low pressure cure avoids the storage of stress within the laminate. Such stress would otherwise produce microcracking and/or delamination of the circuit board when the stress is released during the subsequent thermal cycling or exposure to caustics attendant with working and reworking of the printed circuit board.
