Water-based compositions that are resistant to dirt pickup, efflorescence, tannin bleed-through and surfactant leaching are described. The water-based composition includes a latex or water-dispersible polymer and a non-VOC UV-VIS (preferably, ultraviolet) absorber as a dirt pickup resistance additive. Methods of making water-based compositions including a non-VOC UV-VIS absorber as an additive are also described.

Dirt pick-up resistant composition

A latex emulsion may include an aqueous carrier liquid and a latex copolymer formed from reactants comprising butyl methacrylate, wherein the reactants include at least 20 wt. % butyl methacrylate, based on the total weight of ethylenically unsaturated monomers used to make the latex copolymer. A coating formed from the latex emulsion exhibits a wet adhesion to a thermoplastic polyolefin roofing membrane of greater than about 1 pound per linear inch when tested using fabric embedded peel adhesion testing per ASTM C794. The latex emulsion may be used as part of an aqueous coating composition or a roofing system including a polymeric roofing membrane.

Coating compositions for polymeric roofing materials

A latex emulsion that includes an aqueous carrier liquid and a latex copolymer formed from reactants comprising butyl methacrylate, wherein the reactants comprise at least 20 wt. % a vinyl monomer, based on the total weight of ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the latex copolymer. A homopolymer formed from the vinyl monomer preferably exhibits a glass transition temperature of between about &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. and about 30&#xb0; C. A coating formed from the latex emulsion preferably exhibits a dry adhesion of greater than about 4 pounds per linear inch when applied between a thermoplastic polyolefin roofing membrane and a plywood roofing substrate at an average coat weight of about 6 lbs/100 ftand subjected to 180&#xb0; peel testing according to ASTM D903 with a 2-inch per minute pull rate. The latex emulsion may include a second latex copolymer or stage, and may be used as part of an aqueous adhesive composition.

Aqueous adhesive compositions

A water-based coating composition is described herein. The composition includes an aqueous dispersion derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and one or more organic solvents. The composition when applied to a substrate and allowed to dry provides a wet look to the substrate.

Waterborne wet look coating composition

Compositions, methods, apparatuses, kits, and combinations are described for permanently or temporarily re-designing, decorating, and/or re-coloring a surface. The compositions useful in the present disclosure include a d&#xe9;cor product that is formulated to be applied and affixed to a surface. If desired, the d&#xe9;cor product may be substantially removed from the surface before being affixed thereto. If a user desires to remove the d&#xe9;cor product, the d&#xe9;cor product is formulated to be removed by a number of methods including, for example, vacuuming, wet extraction, chemical application, and the like. If the user desires to affix the d&#xe9;cor product to the surface in a permanent or semi-permanent manner, the d&#xe9;cor product may be affixed to the surface by applying energy thereto in the form of, for example, heat, pressure, emitted waves, an emitted electrical field, a magnetic field, and/or a chemical. The d&#xe9;cor product may also be utilized in the form of a kit or in conjunction with a design device, such as a stencil, to control the application of the d&#xe9;cor product to create, for example, a pattern on the surface.

Carpet decor and setting solution compositions

The present disclosure provides compositions, methods, apparatuses, kits, and combinations thereof for permanently or temporarily re-designing, decorating, and/or re-coloring a surface. Emulsion polymer pressure-sensitive adhesives having substantially Newtonian-like flow characteristics are disclosed.

Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions

An improved emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive composition is disclosed. The pressure sensitive adhesive composition is formed by emulsion polymerization of vinylic monomers in the presence of a support resin which is added after the polymerization of the monomers has begun.

Aqueous pressure sensitive adhesive compositions

Emulsion polymer pressure sensitive adhesives are disclosed which have substantially Newtonian-like flow characteristics.
