A power fuse assembly includes a fuse mounting, a fuse unit, and a hinge assembly. The fuse unit is configured to carry current from a line connection to a load connection. The hinge assembly is configured to be removeably coupled to the fuse unit and to allow rotation of the fuse unit relative to the fuse mounting. The hinge assembly including: an inlet configured to accept incoming gases produced by the fuse unit in response to an overload event, the inlet having a first orientation; an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet, the outlet having a second orientation that is not equal to the first orientation; and a diverter component disposed between the inlet and the outlet, the diverter configured to guide the flow of the gases between the inlet and the outlet.

Fuse link exhaust systems and methods

An exhaust control device includes a wear indicator disposed within a housing of the exhaust control device. The wear indicator is arranged to be exposed to a flow of exhaust gas through the exhaust control device. The wear indicator has a first observable state indicative of remaining useful life of the exhaust control device. The wear indicator is responsive to a flow of exhaust gas through the exhaust control device to assume a second observable state indicative of the exhaust control device having reached the end of its useful life.

A fuse incorporates a fusible element assembly and an auxiliary fusible element assembly in a solid arc extinguishing material configuration. The fusible element assembly has a first operating characteristic and the auxiliary fusible element has a second operating characteristic different than the first operating characteristic.

Fuse

A current-limiting device is provided with pressure relief facilities that are responsive to relieve internal pressures during operation of the current limiter. In a specific arrangement, the pressure relief arrangement includes a passage that is opened upon operation of the current limiter to communicate between the interior and the exterior of the current limiter. The passage includes a fusible material therein that is melted by the heating within current limiter under predetermined high-current fault conditions. In a specific arrangement, the passage is formed through a contact terminal of the current limiter. In one arrangement, the current-limiting device includes an adjoining exhaust section and the contact terminal extends into the adjoining exhaust section.

A fuse incorporates a fusible element assembly and an auxiliary fusible element assembly in a solid arc extinguishing material configuration. The fusible element assembly has a first operating characteristic and the auxiliary fusible element has a second operating characteristic different than the first operating characteristic. An installation adapter may be used to adapt a fuse to a non-standard mounting for the fuse. The installation adapter may include first and second adapter members that secure to the fuse to provide contacts having an appropriate spatial relationship to engage the non-standard mounting. A fuse and an installation adapter may be packaged as a kit.

A fuse is provided that is suitable for operation in unusual environments and includes an operation indicator that is simple and reliable. A movable arcing tube is released during operation. As the arcing tube moves outside the fuse assembly, a latching spring moves into a receiving groove in the arcing tube to retain the arcing tube in the external operated position.

High voltage fuse

An operation counter arrangement is provided for a circuit interrupter for opening a high-voltage circuit-isolating device. The operation counter arrangement responds to actual operations via response to a moving contact arrangement of the circuit interrupter. The operation counter arrangement is capable of retrofit to existing circuit interrupters via replacement of an exhaust control device of the circuit interrupter. In a preferred arrangement, a count of both the total number of operations and the number of operations since the most recent maintenance is provided.

A fusible element is provided that includes cooperating interfitting parts surrounded by fusible material. The cooperating interfitting parts are arranged so as to place compressive force on the fusible material in response to attempted separation of the interfitting parts. Further, the arrangement also reduces the forces on the fusible material. In response to a predetermined time-current condition, the fusible material softens sufficiently to permit the release and separation of the interfitting parts.

Fusible element with high surge capability

An electrical path or interconnection arrangement is provided within a formed support body of polymeric material that exhibits volumetric changes during and after the forming thereof. The electrical path or interconnection arrangement provides an accurately positioned electrically conductive path through the material of the support body and also responds to, accommodates and alleviates the effects of forces at the interface between the material of the support body and the electrical path or interconnection arrangement that occur during and after the forming of the support body. The interconnection arrangement exhibits predetermined deformability/compressibility characteristics to alleviate stresses caused by the volumetric changes of the polymeric material. In a preferred arrangement, the interconnection arrangement includes an elongated tubular conductor fabricated from a metallic material. The material, the thickness of the tubular walls of the conductor, and the dimensions of the cross-section of the conductor are selected in accordance with the dimensions of the electrical path and the characteristics of the polymeric material to provide predetermined deformability/compressibility characteristics so as to avoid undesirable stress at the interface of the conductor and the polymeric material. In a specific embodiment, the interconnection arrangement also provides for the grading of the electrical field about a terminal conductor via the provision of a resilient member that is disposed about the terminal conductor and also connects one end of a conductor of the interconnection arrangement to the terminal conductor.

Apparatus with interconnection arrangement

A support arrangement is provided for an electrical device that is embedded within a support body or housing. The support arrangement responds to volumetric changes in the material of the support body during the molding of the support body. In a specific arrangement, the support arrangement accurately positions the electrical device with respect to the exterior of the support body and includes provisions for yieldingly supporting the electrical device.
