The present disclosure describes a seat. The seat may include a stationary support frame at least partially defining a cavity. The seat may also include a backrest cushion, a headrest, and a motion mechanism. The motion mechanism has a headrest assembly allowing movement of the headrest between a retracted position and an extended position. When the headrest is in the retracted position, the headrest is hidden from view within the cavity of the support frame. When the headrest is in the extended position, the headrest is visible above the backrest cushion.

Motion furniture with deployable headrest

A linkage that provides a fully flat reclined position is described. The linkage includes a full-flat lift link pivotally coupled to a seat support link. A backrest support link couples to the lift link through an oblong aperture to provide additional range of motion. The lift link includes a laterally extending flange, the perimeter of which acts as a cam surface for a cam pin that obstructs reclining of the backrest support link when the rocker-recliner is in an upright position. When fully reclined, the linkage configures a footrest, seat portion, and backrest portion in a generally equal plane to provide a fully flat seating surface.

Full-flat recline linkage

Provided is a linkage mechanism for a recliner that includes a seat-mounting plate, a base plate vertically supported by high-legs, a footrest assembly adapted to extend ottoman(s) forward when the recliner is adjusted from a closed to an extended position, and a seat-adjustment assembly. The seat-adjustment assembly includes an ottoman drive link that has a front end pivotably coupled to the footrest assembly and a rear end pivotably coupled to a mid section of a connecting link. The connecting link further includes a front end rotatably coupled to a forward portion of the base plate and a rear end rotatably coupled to a lower end of a rear pivot link. The rear pivot link further includes an upper end that is pivotably coupled to a rearward portion of the seat-mounting plate. The combined operation of three links above locates the seat-adjustment assembly above the base plate's lower edge during adjustment.

Linkage mechanism for a high-leg seating unit

This invention is related to an ottoman convertible to a seating unit comprising a back-support assembly, a seat-support assembly, a base frame, and a pair of opposed armrests. Additionally, the ottoman includes a linkage system comprising a plurality of pivotably interconnected linkages, where the linkage system is configured to rotatably couple the seat-support assembly to the back-support assembly, and translatably couple the seat-support assembly and the base frame. In operation, this furniture piece is moveable between a closed position, resembling an ottoman, and an open position, wherein the back-support assembly forms the backrest of a seating unit accessible to a seated occupant. Specifically, the pivotably interconnected linkages operate such that rearward rotational movement of the back-support assembly induces forward translation of the seat-support assembly in relation to the base frame. This movement coincidentally induces the pair of opposed armrests to raise.

Wall-avoiding convertible ottoman

This invention is related to a sleep over recliner chair having a footrest mechanism and a recliner mechanism that operate independently of one another. The sleep over recliner chair includes a footrest, a seat, back, and a pair of spaced apart armrests. Further, the sleep over recliner chair includes a base, a reverse tilt mechanism coupled with the base, and a linkage mechanism coupled with the reverse tilt mechanism. The linkage mechanism includes a recliner mechanism and a footrest mechanism. The footrest mechanism is adapted to move between a first, closed position and a second, open position. The recliner mechanism is adapted to move between a first, upright position and a second, fully reclined position. Further, the footrest and recliner mechanisms operate independently of one another.

Sleep over recliner chair

This invention is related to a shielding assembly comprising a cover plate, upper and lower paddle arms, a circular plate, and a back plate for covering an opening in an arm of a recliner chair. The opening provides clearance for a drive tube that moves independently from the arm. The paddle arms are rotatably coupled to the cover plate, wherein rotation is restrained by tension devices. The circular plate is slidably disposed between the paddle arms and the back plate. The back plate is fixedly attached to the cover plate by fasteners that limit rotation of the paddle arms. In operation, if the drive tube moves upward or downward, the circular plate, having a bore circumferentially engaged to the drive shaft, moves therewith vacating a portion of the opening. One of the paddle arms may be deflected by the drive tube movement while another continues to overlie the vacated portion.

Recliner chair shielding assembly

This invention is related to a recliner chair having a footrest mechanism and a recliner mechanism. The recliner chair includes a footrest, a seat, back, and a pair of spaced apart armrests. The recliner mechanism, in one aspect, broadly includes a base plate, a seat mount plate, a recline link, a seat lift link, a control linkage, and a back linkage. The carrier link couples the base plate to the back linkage while the full recline link couples the carrier link to the base plate. The control linkage is coupled to the base plate, the back linkage, and the footrest extension linkage and cooperates therewith to move the footrest mechanism between the open and closed positions. Further, the control linkage cooperates with the back linkage to move the backrest between the upright position and the fully reclined position.

Linkage mechanism for a recliner chair

A chair is disclosed having a mechanism for assembling and disassembling a seatback thereto. The mechanism, which is fixed to the base of the chair, comprises a coupling plate having slots for receiving bolts from the seatback seat posts. Rotatably coupled to the coupling plate is a locking plate that when rotated about a fastener, secures a bolt from the seat post into slots in the locking plate and coupling plate, thereby securing the seatback to the base of the chair.

Knockdown attachment mechanism for a reclining chair

A reclining mechanism for a furniture item includes support structure adapted for attachment to the furniture item, a footrest support bar connected for longitudinal movement with respect to the support structure between extended and retracted positions and actuating structure connected with the footrest support bar. The footrest support bar includes an S-shaped section and is connected to a footrest member for supporting the legs of the seat occupant. The actuating structure moves the footrest support bar along the S-shaped section between the extended and retracted positions.

A reclining mechanism for a furniture item includes support structure adapted for attachment to the furniture item, a footrest support bar connected for longitudinal movement with respect to the support structure between extended and retracted positions and actuating structure connected with the footrest support bar. The footrest support bar includes an S-shaped section and is connected to a footrest member for supporting the legs of the seat occupant. The actuating structure moves the footrest support bar along the S-shaped section between the extended and retracted positions to closely approximate a conventional footrest portion of a reclining mechanism, while presenting a simplified construction.

A reclining furniture mechanism which generally includes footrest linkage, backrest linkage, a seat link, stationary base structure as well as drive linkage and seat supporting and actuating linkage connected between the seat link and base structure. Footrest drive linkage is provided for smoothly and simultaneously extending and retracting the footrest linkage on opposite sides of the furniture item. The mechanism is particularly suited for use with T-cushion type frames associated with such furniture items as sofas, loveseats and modular sectionals.
