Methods, systems, and computer-readable media provide for notifying an optical line termination (OLT) of a power failure. According to embodiments, a method for notifying an OLT of a power failure is provided. According to the method, a notification of a power failure at an optical network termination (ONT) is received. In response to receiving the notification, power is retrieved from a dedicated power storage unit dedicated to providing power for the transmission of a dying gasp alarm. The dying gasp alarm is transmitted to the OLT utilizing at least a portion of the power from the dedicated power storage unit. The dying gasp alarm notifies the OLT of the power failure.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for providing notification of a power failure

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media provide for notifying and determining a location of a fiber cut. According to embodiments, a method for determining a location of a fiber cut in a passive optical network (PON) including a plurality of optical network terminations (ONTs) is provided. According to the method, a plurality of base signatures are generated prior to the fiber cut. Each of the base signatures correspond to a known configuration of the plurality of ONTs. In response to the fiber cut, a current signature corresponding to a current configuration of the plurality of ONTs is generated. Whether the current signature matches one of the base signatures is determined. In response to finding a matching base signature, the location of the fiber cut is determined based on the known configuration of the plurality of ONTs corresponding to the matching base signature.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for determining physical layer failures

An optical coupler comprises a first, second, third, and fourth port. The first port is for communicating optical signals with a processor. The second port receives a first optical signal and transmits the first optical signal to the first port. The third port receives a second optical signal and transmits the second optical signal to the first port. The fourth port receives a third optical signal and transmits the third optical signal to the first port.

A connectorized inside fiber optic drop that facilitates the deployment of fiber to the home by connecting a fiber optic interface device to an optical network terminal, the inside fiber optic drop including a sheath, transition fittings, pigtails, fiber optic connectors, and a fiber optic strand. The sheath is positioned over a middle section of the fiber optic strand. The transition fittings are attached to the fiber optic sheath proximate to both ends of the drop. The pigtails attach to the transition fittings and enclose the fiber optic strand from the transition fittings to the ends of the fiber optic strand, where the fiber optic connectors are attached to the fiber optic strand and the pigtails. If the drop contains more than one fiber optic strand, then one set of pigtails with connectors is provided for each fiber optic strand.

Fiber optic interface device

A housing has second and third bays, where each bay receives equipment therein. The housing also has a plurality of lines traveling therein from a site such as a first bay to the second bay and the third bay. A line routing device is positioned above the second and third bays and routes the lines from the site to the second and third bays. Each line is secured at a common securing point above the second and third bays, and each of the second and third bays has a vertical down-channel at one side thereof. Each line extends from the securing point, through the line routing device, and down one of the down-channels such that the line when positioned to hang in either down-channel hangs substantially the same length within such down-channel.

Connectorized inside fiber optic drop

A fiber optic interface device that facilitates the deployment of fiber to the home by connecting a connectorized outside fiber optic drop to a connectorized inside fiber optic drop, the fiber optic interface device including a housing having two ports, termination hardware, routing hardware, and one or more adapters. The housing provides environmental protection and is adapted to be mounted to a customer's house. The two ports receive the outside and inside drops. Positioned above the ports inside the housing, the termination hardware secures the drops to the housing. The routing hardware receives the drops from the ports, routes the drops to the one or more adapters, and stores any extra length in the drops, while maintaining a proper fiber strand bend radius. The one or more adapters connect the outside drop to the inside drop, providing a well-aligned and stable fiber optic connection that does not require splicing.

A fiber optic deployment network that delivers uninterrupted fiber optic service from a service provider central office to a subscriber's optical network terminal, and as a component of that deployment network, a fiber optic deployment apparatus and method for deploying multiple fiber optic drops from an incoming fiber optic strand spliced from a single fiber optic strand. The deployment apparatus providing splitting and terminating functions in a combined splitter-terminal package thereby simplifying installation of the fiber optic deployment. The splitter-terminal package having a splice case, a splitter and connectorized terminations for connecting and incoming fiber optic strand, splitting the incoming fiber optic stand into a number of outgoing strands and terminating the outgoing strands at connectorized terminations. The splice case separates an incoming fiber optic strand from a primary fiber optic strand, the incoming fiber optic strand connects to the incoming side of the splitter-terminal package, the outgoing side of the splitter-terminal package connects to the fiber optic drops, and the fiber optic drops proceed to the subscriber premises. The fiber optic drops are thereby easily installed providing continuous fiber optic service throughout the network.
