A structure for use in industrial fabrics such as paper machine clothing and engineered fabrics. The structure contains both axially elastomeric yarns and relatively inelastic yarns in various patterns. The structure has a high degree of both compressibility under an applied normal load and excellent recovery (resiliency or spring back) upon removal of that load.

A method of stabilizing the seam loops of a papermaking fabric or other industrial fabric until the fabric is ready to be installed and seamed on a machine. Stabilizing the loops prevents torque imbalance and other forces from distorting the loop alignment over time, thereby making the loops easier to connect and seam when the fabric is ready to be installed.

Method and device for stabilizing unseamed loops

A method of seaming an on-machine-seamable multiaxial papermaker's fabric to prevent yarn migration. The multiaxial fabric is in the form of an endless loop flattened into two layers along fold lines. CD yarns are removed from the folds to create extended ravel areas. This leaves the MD yarns unbound in the ravel areas. Seam loops are then formed from the unbound MD yarns at the folds. CD materials (e.g. continuous CD yarns) are affixed to (rewoven into) the fabric along the edges of the ravel area at each fold. The affixed CD materials bind the CD yarn tails along the edges of the ravel areas to prevent migration of CD yarn tails into the seam area.

Seam for multiaxial papermaking fabrics

The instant invention is directed to large waterborne, towed flexible fluid containment vessels for the transportation of cargo comprising a fluid or fluidisable material and a method of fabricating the vessels. The flexible fluid containment vessel includes an impervious, elongated flexible tubular structure comprised of fabric having a first circumference. The vessel also includes a sealed front end and rear end and a means for filling and emptying the vessel of cargo. The front end or the rear end of the tubular structure is formed by weaving, knitting or braiding in such a manner to have a taper that terminates in a second circumference that is less than the first circumference.

End portions for flexible fluid containment vessel and a method of making the same

A one-and-a-half layer monofilament fabric for use as a low-caliper seamed press fabric on a papermaking machine. The fabric is endless woven with seaming loops formed by adjacent unstacked MD wefts. The seaming loops are oriented perpendicular to the plane of the base fabric for easier connection and seaming. When the fabric is placed under load, the loops collapse back to produce a seam area having the same low caliper as the base fabric. Further, this unstacked fabric structure produces a larger web cake than other fabrics having a similar caliper.

An on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabric, which may be produced by modified endless weaving, includes machine-direction (MD) and cross-machine-direction (CD) yarns. When so produced, the MD yarns weave continuously back and forth between the two widthwise edges of the fabric, each time forming a seaming loop at one of the two widthwise edges. Interwoven with at least one of the two sides, top and bottom, of the seaming loops at one or both widthwise edges are at least two additional CD yarns. The additional CD yarns interweave with the top and/or bottom of the seaming loops in a leno weave, which keeps the seaming loops in a common position vertically relative to the plane of the papermakers fabric, locks the seaming loops into a desired position and orientation with their planes perpendicular to that of the papermaker's fabric.

Enhancements for seams in on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabrics

An on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabric produced by modified endless weaving includes machine-direction (MD) and first cross-machine-direction (CD) yarns. The MD yarns weave continuously back and forth between the two widthwise edges of the fabric, each time forming a seaming loop at one of the two widthwise edges. The MD and first CD yarns are interwoven with one another in a first weave pattern. The fabric also includes systems of second and third CD yarns. The second CD yarns are interwoven with the MD yarns along one of the two widthwise edges of the fabric between the system of first CD yarns and the seaming loops in a second weave pattern which may be different from the first weave pattern. Likewise, the third CD yarns are interwoven with the MD yarns along the other of the two widthwise edges of the fabric between the system of first CD yarns and the seaming loops in a third weave pattern which may be different from the first weave pattern. The second and third weave patterns may be the same as or different from one another. The second and third CD yarns may make the compressibility and permeability characteristics of the seam regions like those of the rest of the fabric, or may improve the stability, uniformity and orientation of the seaming loops at the two ends of the fabric.

Seam enhancements for seamed papermaker's fabrics

A leader used to pull a seamable papermaker's fabric onto a paper machine comprising at least one section of material comprising yarns which are so oriented so as to distribute the load evenly across and down the fabric.
