In one embodiment, a method includes determining when a relay arrangement is available to pair with an endpoint. The relay arrangement is arranged to wirelessly communicate with the endpoint and to communicate over a wired network. The method also includes authenticating the endpoint with respect to the relay arrangement when the relay arrangement is available to pair with the endpoint, and pairing the endpoint with the relay arrangement if the endpoint is authenticated with respect to the relay arrangement. Pairing the endpoint with the relay arrangement includes the endpoint and the relay arrangement engaging in wireless communications, as well as the relay arrangement engaging in wired communications over the wired network.

Disclosed are conferencing systems, devices, architectures, and methods for managing a conference spanning system to facilitate participation in a plurality of conferences at the same time. An exemplary system having devices and/or structures in accordance with embodiments can include: (i) a plurality of conferences, each conference being configured to support a plurality of media modes; (ii) a presentation mechanism configured to support the plurality of media modes from the plurality of conferences; and (iii) a selector for selecting a conference from the plurality of conferences and designating the selected conference as an active conference and designating non-selected conferences as background conferences, wherein the active conference is assigned at least one enhanced media mode in the presentation mechanism.

Communicating information to respondent endpoints includes detecting a trigger event for an incident. The trigger event is related to an incident category for the incident. A rule is identified in accordance with the incident category. The rule specifies one or more processes for responding to the incident. A collaboration session with a first respondent endpoint and a second respondent endpoint is established in accordance with the rule. The first respondent endpoint is associated with a first respondent system, the second respondent endpoint is associated with a second respondent system. Multimedia information is communicated to the first respondent endpoint and the second respondent endpoint according to the rule.

In one embodiment, a method comprises establishing, by an IP-based meeting server via an IP network, a web-based media conference between an identified meeting presenter having a web-enabled presenter client device and identified meeting participants each having at least one corresponding participating client device; receiving, by the IP-based meeting server, monitoring data for each of the identified meeting participants, the monitoring data including, for each identified meeting participant, a detected interaction by the corresponding identified meeting participant with the corresponding participant client device; generating, by the IP-based meeting server, an aggregate attention metric identifying an aggregate focus of attention by the identified meeting participants, based on the received monitoring data; and outputting, by the IP-based meeting server, the aggregate attention metric for display by the web-enabled presenter client device of the identified meeting presenter.

In one embodiment, a method for sending a video message and a text message in a communication session is provided. The method includes determining when a contextual trigger is detected in the communication session between a first user and a second user. For example, the contextual trigger may be when a first user focuses on a window being used for the communication session. The first user may then input a text message. A video message of the first user in the communication session is also determined. The video message is determined based on when the contextual trigger is determined. For example, the video message may include video from a time before when the contextual trigger is determined, such as 10 or 20 seconds before, until a time when the first user is finished inputting the text message. The text message and video message are then sent to a second user.

Rich-media instant messaging with selective rich media messaging broadcast

A water cooler and dispensing system comprises a housing, a pump, a cap, a siphon tube, a reservoir, a cooling unit, control circuitry and a faucet. The housing includes a frame and detachable panels for supporting the reservoir above a water bottle. The cap substantially seals the bottle and is coupled to the pump. The pump forces air into the bottle and water upward through the siphon tube to the reservoir. A liquid pumping system may also be used. The reservoir is divided into two portions, and the lower portion contains a cooling unit for chilling the water. The reservoir has an output port from each portion of the reservoir coupled to a faucet formed by a manifold, two valves and a nozzle. The dispenser also includes control circuitry for selectively operating the pump to maintain a predetermined water level in the reservoir. The controller also lights an indicator when the bottle is empty.
