An inkjet printing system includes: a printhead positioned over a media feed path; and an aerosol extractor positioned downstream of the printhead relative to a media feed direction. The aerosol extractor includes: an air knife having a knife slot for directing a flow of air towards print media; and a suction nozzle positioned upstream of the knife slot for directing aerosol into a suction channel.

An aerosol extraction unit includes: a frame having first and second opposite side bars extending parallel with a media feed direction; and aerosol extractors extending perpendicular to the media feed direction between the first and second side bars. Each aerosol extractor includes: an air knife having a knife slot for directing a flow of air towards print media; and a suction nozzle positioned upstream of the knife slot for directing aerosol into a suction channel. The first side bar includes an air manifold in fluid communication with each knife slot; and the second side bar includes a suction manifold in fluid communication with each suction nozzle.

A printing unit includes: a fixed maintenance chassis having a bottom plate defining a plurality of first slots; print modules having a respective inkjet printheads extending across a media feed path; a lift mechanism for lifting and lowering the print modules relative to the media feed path; and an aerosol extraction unit mounted to an underside of the bottom plate. The aerosol extraction unit includes a plurality of aerosol extractors, which extend across the media feed path between a pair of side bars, the aerosol extractors being spaced apart along the media feed direction to define a corresponding plurality of second slots aligned with the first slots. Each print module is slidably movable through its respective first and second slots towards the media feed path into a printing position.

A printhead assembly includes: an ink manifold comprised of a first metal; printhead chips mounted on the ink manifold and receiving ink therefrom, each printhead chip having a plurality of bond pads; a PCB mounted on the ink manifold, the PCB having a plurality of contact pads; a plurality of wirebonds interconnecting the bond pads and the contact pads, the wirebonds being comprised of a second metal; an encapsulant material encapsulating the wirebonds, the bond pads and the contact pads; and a voltage source. The ink manifold and the wirebonds are electrically connectable to the voltage source to provide cathodic protection of the wirebonds.

An electronic assembly includes a substrate having a die and PCB mounted thereon. Wirebonds interconnect bond pads of the die with contact pads of the PCB, each wirebond having a first end portion bonded to a respective bond pad, an opposite second end portion bonded to a respective contact pad and an intermediate section extending between the first and second end portions. A dam encapsulant encapsulates each of the first and second end portions, a first fill encapsulant contacts the substrate and the dam encapsulant; and a second fill encapsulant overlies the first fill encapsulant. The first fill encapsulant has a lower modulus of elasticity than the second fill encapsulant and the dam encapsulant.

A printer includes: a platen; a printhead assembly having an inkjet printhead operatively positioned opposite the platen; a feed mechanism for feeding a web of print media over the platen and along a printing feed path; and a diverter configured for periodically diverting a portion of the web towards the printhead assembly and along a maintenance feed path. The portion of the web diverted along the maintenance feed path wipes part of the printhead assembly and removes condensation.

An inkjet nozzle device includes: a nozzle chamber having a floor, a roof and perimeter sidewalls extending between the floor and the roof, wherein a nozzle aperture is defined in the roof; a heating element for generating gas bubbles in the nozzle chamber so as to eject ink through the nozzle aperture, wherein a centroid of the heating element is aligned with a centroid of the nozzle aperture; and a pair of chamber inlets defined in the floor of the nozzle chamber, the chamber inlets being symmetrically disposed about the centroid of the heating element. The inkjet nozzle device has a pair of orthogonal symmetry planes passing through the centroid of the nozzle aperture.

An inkjet nozzle device includes: a firing chamber having a nozzle aperture; and a heating element for generating gas bubbles in the firing chamber so as to eject ink through the nozzle aperture. A non-heating stabilizing bar extends across the nozzle aperture.
