A device with in situ anode and cathode microneedles is used, either with or without any cosmetic, cosmeceutical, nutraceutical, and/or pharmaceutical composition or formulation. The in situ anode and cathode microneedles form battery cells or half-cells when placed in contact with an electrolyte found in bodily interface tissue, to produce an electromotive force without any additional chemical battery or power source. The microneedles may be composed of, or may carry (e.g., be coated with) electrical potential material(s) that has or have an electrical potential relative to an electrolyte in the bodily interface material. A first number of microneedles may, for instance, include a first electrical potential material having a first electrical potential. A second number of microneedles may, for instance, include a second electrical potential material having a second electrical potential. The first number of microneedles may thus serve as an anode, while the second number of microneedles may thus serve as a cathode. Alternatively, a number of microneedles may, for instance, include both a first electrical potential material and a second electrical potential material, having a first electrical potential and a second electrical potential, respectively. Respective portions of each of the microneedles may thus serve as an anode and a cathode. Again, such may be accomplished without any other or additional electrochemical battery.

An apparatus includes at least one battery storage compartment configured to store one or more encapsulated anodes and one or more encapsulated cathodes and at least one beverage storage compartment configured to store at least a component of a beverage. The apparatus also includes a manifold operably connected to the at least one battery storage compartment and to the at least one beverage storage compartment. The manifold is configured to receive at least one of the one or more encapsulated anodes, at least one of the one or more encapsulated cathodes, and at least a portion of the component of the beverage to form a battery that is configured to generate an electrical current.

Liquid battery formed from encapsulated components

An apparatus includes a cathode chamber configured to store a gel cathode and an anode chamber configured to store a gel anode. A cathode dispensing channel is in fluid communication with the cathode chamber and allows at least a portion of the gel cathode to be dispensed. An anode dispensing channel is in fluid communication with the anode chamber and allows at least a portion of the gel anode to be dispensed. A portion of the gel cathode and a portion of the gel anode come into contact upon being dispensed to form an active battery that can be used to generate an electrical current.

Gel formed battery

A gel battery may be fabricated from a gel anode material and a gel cathode material. The battery may further comprise a gel electrolyte material. The gel materials may be in the form of thin films. A gel battery may be formed by contacting at least a portion of a gel anode with at least a portion of a gel electrolyte, and at least a portion of a gel cathode may also be in contact with at least a portion of the gel electrolyte. A battery formed by gel films may also be coated with a material. The gel battery, its anode, cathode, and electrolyte materials may all be non-toxic for an application to an animal.

A battery includes a first battery. The first battery includes a first anode, a first cathode, and a dry electrolyte. The dry electrolyte is configured to be activated by a first biological fluid to electrically connect the first anode and the first cathode to generate an electrical current.
