An apparatus for providing HDMI cables and utility receptacles on a work surface. The apparatus has a housing which has an interior region, a lower portion and an upper portion. The upper portion has an opening that provides access to the interior region. The lower portion comprises wall sections attached to and extending downwardly from the upper portion. The upper portion has a flange portion that is angulated with respect to the wall sections. A bottom panel is attached to the wall sections. The housing is sized such that the lower portion fits into a through-hole in a work surface and the flange portion contacts and rests upon portions of the work surface extending about the through-hole in the work surface. A HDMI signal switching device is within the interior region and has a plurality of HDMI input connectors and an HDMI output connector. The apparatus includes at least one HDMI cable having a first HDMI connector connected to a corresponding HDMI input connector of the HDMI signal switching device and second HDMI connector for connection to an external HDMI signal source device. An HDMI output connector is attached to the bottom panel and connected to the HDMI output connector.

Apparatus for providing utility receptacles and cables at a selected location on a workstation

The present invention is directed to an apparatus for providing utility receptacles and cables at a selected location on a work station that has a work surface. The apparatus comprises a housing comprising a lower portion and an upper portion. The upper portion has a perimeter and a flange portion that extends about the entire perimeter. The upper portion of the housing has a top opening that is bounded by the flange portion. The lower portion of the housing comprises lengthwise and widthwise walls that are attached to and extend downwardly from the upper portion of the housing. The housing further comprises a bottom panel that is attached to the lengthwise and widthwise walls. The housing has an interior region that is accessible through top opening. The housing is sized so that the lower portion of the housing fits into a through-hole in a work surface of a work station and the flange portion contacts and rests upon the portion of the work surface that extends about the through-hole in the work surface. The apparatus further comprises a receptacle support structure located within the interior region and attached to the lower portion of the housing at a predetermined location above the bottom panel so as to form a lower compartment beneath the receptacle support structure. The receptacle support structure is generally centrally located within the interior region and further includes an interior. The receptacle support structure further includes a plurality of through-holes therein that lead to the lower compartment. A plurality of utility receptacles are attached or mounted to the receptacle support structure. The plurality of utility receptacles comprises AC power receptacles, telephone jacks and USB device charging ports. A HDMI signal switching device is located within the lower compartment and comprises a plurality of HDMI input connectors and a HDMI output connector. The apparatus further comprises a plurality of HDMI cables. Each cable extends from a corresponding opening in the receptacle support structure and has a first HDMI connector connected to a corresponding HDMI input connector of the HDMI signal switching device and second HDMI connector for connection to an external source device. The apparatus further comprises a HDMI output connector attached to the bottom panel of the housing and connected to the HDMI output connector of the HDMI signal switching device.

A power and communication receptacle trough has a frame which has an upper, peripheral portion and a plurality of walls downwardly extending from the upper, peripheral portion. The frame defines an interior region. A receptacle attachment member is disposed within the interior region of the frame and is attached to the frame. The receptacle attachment member has a wave-like contour having a crest portion. At least one power or communication receptacle is connected to the receptacle attachment member. The receptacle attachment member has a central portion and the crest portion of the wave-like contour is at the central portion of the receptacle attachment member. Covers are movably attached to the upper, peripheral portion. Each cover corresponds to a respective half of the frame. A lighting device is attached to the receptacle attachment member to illuminate the interior region of the frame.

A lid assembly for an outlet unit built into an article having a work surface, the power and communication outlet is positioned below an opening or cut-out in the work surface, the opening has an inner side that extends about the opening. The lid assembly has a lid structure that has a pair of lid support members that are joined to the lid at a corresponding side of the lid. The lid assembly further includes a pair of pivot support members that are configured to be joined to the inner side of the opening in the article. Each pivot support member has an inner side and a pivot pin member joined to the inner side. The lid structure is attached to the pivot pin members and pivotal between a closed portion and an opened portion. The lid structure pivots in a first direction to attain the closed position and in an opposite, second direction to attain an opened position. At least one stop member is joined to a corresponding pivot support member to prevent the lid structure from pivoting beyond a first predetermined distance. The lid structure rests upon the stop member when the lid structure is in the closed position. At least one interfering member is joined to one of the pivot support members so as to prevent the lid structure from pivoting in the second direction for a distance that is greater than a second predetermined distance.

A utility receptacle apparatus for use with a work surface. The utility receptacle apparatus has a grommet member that has a frame structure. The frame structure has an opening therein and an upper peripheral portion that extends about the opening. The upper peripheral portion has a top side and bottom side wherein the bottom side has a surface for contacting a work surface of an article of furniture. The frame structure includes a front wall, a rear wall and a pair of sidewalls that extend downward from and are attached to the bottom side of the peripheral portion. A lid member is located within the opening of the frame structure and is movably attached to the sidewalls of the frame structure. The utility receptacle apparatus includes a receptacle base member that has a top plate section which has a top side and a bottom side. The top plate section has a pair of oppositely positioned raised sections and a recessed section that is located between the raised sections. Each raised section has at least one opening therein to receive a fastener device to allow the receptacle base member to be attached under a work surface of an article of furniture.

Utility receptacle apparatus for use with a work surface or similar article

A pop-up power and communication outlet apparatus having a hollow leg structure having an interior, a top end having an opening in communication with the interior of the hollow leg structure, and a bottom end. The apparatus also has a power and communication outlet structure that has a sleeve structure disposed within and attached to the hollow leg structure, and an outlet center movably disposed within the sleeve structure such that the outlet center can move vertically with respect to the sleeve structure. The outlet center has at least one power outlet or at least one communication outlet. In a preferred embodiment, the outlet center has a plurality of power outlets and a plurality of communication outlets. A lift mechanism is located within the sleeve structure and is connected between the sleeve structure and the outlet center. The lift mechanism urges the outlet center upward. A latch mechanism is attached to the sleeve structure and has a first configuration that retains the outlet center within the sleeve structure and a second configuration that allows the lift mechanism to lift the outlet center upward so the power and communication outlets are visible and accessible.

Pop-up power and communication outlet apparatus for use with a table, desk or similar article

A retractable power and communication outlet apparatus for use with an article having a work surface. The apparatus has a power and communication outlet structure that is sized to fit into an opening in the work surface of the article. The outlet structure includes a shell having a perimeter, a top end and a bottom end. At least one power outlet and/or communication outlet is connected to the shell. A bottom plate member is attached to the bottom end of the shell and has portions thereof that extend beyond the perimeter of the shell. The bottom plate member has a top side and a bottom side. The apparatus also has a slide apparatus that has a stationary rail member and a movable member that slides upon the rail member. The movable member is attached to the bottom plate member so that the power and communication outlet structure can move between a retracted position and an extended position. The apparatus includes a mounting plate for attachment to the bottom of the work surface. At least one magnet is attached to the portion of the bottom plate that extends beyond the perimeter of the shell.

A system and method for generating a coherent reference signal for extracting desired user signals from received signals even after error propagation is underway, are presented. A data symbol preceding a sequence whose relative phases are known is used as an absolute phase reference. Since errors in detection of the phase reference symbol are usually caused by error propagation already underway, the sequence can be used to reacquire the desired signal with merely an absolute phase shift in detected data, which allows accurate differential detection of the desired user signal even in the absence of absolute phase knowledge.

An improvement of a digital wireless receiver comprises a processing circuit for processing a plurality of received signals, and providing a processed signal having an amplitude; and an adjusting circuit for adjusting the amplitude of the processed signal, the adjusting circuit coupled to the processing circuit, where the adjusting circuit adjusts the amplitude as a function of distortion of the plurality of received signals. The processing circuit can weight and combine the plurality of received signals. The distortion can be estimated from a squared error of the plurality of received signals, which can be averaged over a sliding window. The function can comprise multiplying the processed signal by square root of the averaged squared error. Such amplitude adjustment is useful to maintain the soft decision information for the processed signal that is fed to a base station having soft decision decoding, or can be used in the base station with soft decoding.

A weight generation circuit generates the plurality of weights, wherein weights are generated so as to solve a minimization problem that penalizes excessive time variability in the weights.
