Aspects of protocol switching and cross-wiring to enable inter-network connectivity are described. For example, a transporter system including a transporter server and a transporter client can securely connect applications to resources in differing networked environments (e.g., clouds and/or data centers). The transporter client may establish data channels as secure socket layer (SSL) connections (e.g., Secure Websockets (WSS)) between a resource in one networked environment and a transporter server that is in communication via a proxy channel with an initiator device in another networked environment. Upon completing the build of a data path between the initiator device and the resource, the handling protocol of the data channels that are established as SSL connections can be modified to a basic socket-level channel (e.g., transmission control protocol, user datagram protocol, etc.) to permit socket-level data stream communications without restrictions.

Protocol switching and secure sockets layer (SSL) cross-wiring to enable inter-network resource connectivity

Some embodiments provide a method for providing access in a scalable manner to resources in a first datacenter to clients operating in one or more public clouds. The method of some embodiments implements with multiple machines a public-cloud proxy to connect clients in the public cloud(s) to a reverse proxy in the first datacenter. For instance, in response to a request to access a first resource in the first datacenter from a first client executing outside of the first datacenter, the method: (1) assigns a first proxy-implementing machine operating outside of the first datacenter to establish a first connection with the first client, (2) assigns a second proxy-implementing machine operating outside of the first datacenter to establish a second connection with the reverse proxy that operates in the first datacenter and that provides access to the first resource, and (3) establishes a third connection between the first and second proxy-implementing machines to forward messages between the first client and the reverse proxy through the first, second, and third connections.

Providing access to datacenter resources in a scalable manner

System and method uses a defined entity type that describes a data structure of a defined computing entity and at least one behavior of the defined computing entity based on user input information. The at least one behavior of the defined computing entity is defined by associating at least one interface with the defined entity type, where the at least one interface represents a reference entity type with a collection of behavior information. An operation is then executed on the defined computing entity according to the at least one behavior of the defined computing entity.

Method and system for using defined computing entities

One or more embodiments provide techniques for processing a request for generating a network diagram for a multi-tier application to be deployed on a cloud computing environment. A deployment director receives a request to deploy the multi-tier application to the cloud computing environment. Deployment director receives an application blueprint of the multi-tier application from an application director. The application blueprint includes logical attributes and logical connections of each component. Deployment director receives an identification of the cloud computing environment. Deployment director generates a network diagram compatible with the cloud computing environment based on at least the application blueprint. The network diagram illustrates physical network structure of the cloud computing environment. Deployment director displays the network diagram.

Method for defining network application security based on declarative properties

Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems include a recovery manager receiving selection of a storage profile to be protected. The storage profile is an abstraction of a set of one or more logical storage devices that are treated as a single entity based upon common storage capabilities. In response to the selection of the storage profile to be protected, a set of virtual datacenter entities associated with the storage profile is added to a disaster recovery plan to automate a failover of the set of virtual datacenter entities from a protection site to a recovery site. The set of one or more virtual datacenter entities includes one or more virtual machines, one or more logical storage devices, or a combination of virtual machines and logical storage devices. The set of virtual datacenter entities is expandable and interchangeable with other virtual datacenter entities.

Storage policy-based automation of protection for disaster recovery

Embodiments include a recovery system, a computer-readable storage medium, and a method of recreating a state of a datacenter. The embodiments include a plurality of program modules that is executable by a processor to gather metadata from a first datacenter that includes at least one virtual machine (VM), wherein the metadata includes data representative of a virtual infrastructure of the first datacenter. The program modules are also executable by the processor to recreate a state of the first datacenter within a second datacenter using the metadata upon a determination that a failure occurred within the first datacenter, and to recreate the VM within the second datacenter.

Recovery system and method for recreating a state of a datacenter

An authoring tool has a graphical user interface enabling interactive authoring of a multimedia presentation including temporal and nontemporal media. The graphical user interface enables specification of the temporal and spatial relationships among the media and playback of the presentation with the specified temporal and spatial relationships. The spatial and temporal relationships among the media may be changed independently of each other. The presentation may be viewed interactively under the control of the author during the authoring process without encoding the audio and video data into a streaming media data file for combination with the other media, simulating behavior of a browser that would receive a streaming media data file. The multimedia presentation may include elements that initiate playback of the presentation from a specified point in time. After authoring of the presentation is completed, the authoring tool assists in encoding and transferring the presentation for distribution. Information about the distribution format and location may be stored as user-defined profiles. Communication with the distribution location may be tested and presentation and the distribution information may be audited prior to encoding and transfer to reduce errors. A presentation is encoded according to the defined temporal and spatial relationships and the distribution format and location information to produce and encoded presentation. The encoded presentation and any supporting media data are transferred to the distribution location, such as a server. A streaming media server may be used for streaming media, whereas other data may be stored on a conventional data server. Accounts may be provided for a streaming media server for authors to publish their presentations. The authoring tool may be associated with a service that uses the streaming media server. Such streaming media servers also may be a source of stock footage for use by authors.
