A disc is rotatably mounted in a position to be partially exposed to, or immersed in, a liquid. Slow rotation of the disc causes liquid adhering to the disc to move upward into a position where wipers remove most of the adhering film, and divert it into a drainage trough or collector. In the simplest form of the invention, the disc is of magnetic-responsive material, and the wipers are flexible strips having permanent magnetism.

Liquid-separating device

A machine spindle with a chuck at one end and a belt sheave at the other has torsional vibrations damped by an inertial wheel loosely received over the chuck.

Torsional vibration dampener

A cutting transducer is mounted on a radius arm positioned in the same relationship with a turntable as is conventional for the tone arm of a record player. Cross-feed is established by a screw having an axis substantially radial with respect to the axis of the turntable. A nut engaging the screw is mounted on a carrier slidably engaging the radius arm. The drive system is movable vertically and laterally to accommodate the placement and removal of blanks on the turntable.

Record-cutting system

A perforate member is laid over a windrow of cut plants to confine it against the action of the wind. The member is open over a major portion of its area to sunlight and the passage of air. The member is held against the ground preferably by the weight of water in flexible tubes extending along opposite sides of the windrow.

Windrow retainer, and method of confining windrows

A lathe is designed to accommodate a variety of machining operations, and provide automatic feed and accuracy of alignment at a minimum of cost. The preferred form of the machine is adapted to function either as bench lathe with its own speed-reducer, or in conjunction with a base machine providing support and power at variable rotational speeds.

Simplified lathe

A snap hook is formed of spring wire in a configuration based on a coil of preferably one and one-half turns. One tail of the coil is relatively short, and has a hook at its end. The longer tail is formed into a bight, and has a hook interengagable with the hook on the shorter tail. One of these hooks has a three-dimensional bend. Several forms of the invention are provided for minimizing snagging, and for ease of manipulation.
