A cable identification system is provided. The cable identification system may include a laser pulse generator configured to emit laser pulses into the first optical-fiber cable segment. The cable identification system may include a polarization disturbance device configured to induce a change in polarization of a second optical-fiber cable segment via changing a position of the second optical-fiber cable segment. The cable identification system may include a polarization detection device configured to determine measures of polarization based upon backscattered light received from the first optical-fiber cable segment when the second optical-fiber cable segment has different positions. The polarization detection device may be configured to determine whether the first optical-fiber cable segment is connected to the second optical-fiber cable segment based upon the measures of polarization.

System and method for cable identification

A device may receive sensing data that is produced by an environment associated with a fiber optic cable. Based on the sensing data, the device may determine a sensing profile, which indicates a measure of vibration as a function of distance along the fiber optic cable and as a function of time. The device may receive new sensing data produced by the environment. The device may determine that the new sensing data satisfies a vibration deviation criteria, relative to the sensing profile, for a duration threshold. By satisfying the vibration deviation criteria for the duration threshold, the new sensing data may indicate that the environment includes an activity associated with an increased likelihood of damage to the fiber optic cable relative to the sensing data. The device may perform one or more actions based on the new sensing data satisfying the vibration deviation criteria for the duration threshold.

Systems and methods for utilizing acoustic sensing to minimize a potential of damage to fiber optic cables

A device may comprise a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may comprise a plurality of slots configured to receive a plurality of fiber optic cables. Each fiber optic cable may be received in a respective slot of the plurality of slots. The second portion may comprise a plurality of protruding members configured to bend the plurality of fiber optic cables, received in the first portion, to cause the plurality of fiber optic cables to emit light. The second portion may further comprise the light detection unit. The light detection unit may be configured to determine whether light emitted by a fiber optic cable is detected; and provide an indication regarding a port of the plurality of ports based on determining that the light, emitted by the fiber optic cable, is detected. The fiber optic cable may be connected to the port.

Systems and methods for preventing service interruption when troubleshooting a passive optical network

A device may provide a signal with a first wavelength and a second wavelength to a fiber cable, and may receive an intensity change measurement of backscattered light based on the first wavelength of the signal. The device may receive a differential phase change measurement of the backscattered light based on the second wavelength of the signal, and may determine whether there is a fiber loss change, a fiber length change, and/or a fiber cut associated with the fiber cable based on the intensity change measurement. The device may determine whether there is an abnormal event associated with the fiber cable based on the differential phase change measurement, and may report one or more of the fiber loss change, the fiber length change, the fiber cut, or the abnormal event.

Systems and methods for monitoring integrity and reliability of a network of fiber cables in real-time

A device may provide, to a user device, a first message instructing a technician to move fiber cables and may receive a first signal based on the technician moving the fiber cables and a rest signal based on the technician stopping movement of the fiber cables. The device may calculate a distance, an average peak signal, and a baseline signal based on the first signal and the rest signal and may calculate a data collection window based on the distance, the average peak signal, and the baseline signal. The device may provide, to the user device, a second message instructing the technician to move one fiber cable at a time and may receive second signals based on the technician moving one fiber cable at a time. The device may provide, for display to the user device, the data collection window and indications of the second signals.

Systems and methods for identifying deployed fiber cables in real-time

In some implementations, a device may transmit communication data to a transceiver via an access fiber optic cable. The device may determine that fiber sensing is to be performed for the access fiber optic cable. The device may cease transmission of the communication data for a predetermined time period. The device may generate an optical pulse after ceasing transmission of the communication data. The device may transmit the optical pulse to the transceiver via the access fiber optic cable. The device may receive, prior to expiration of the predetermined time period, a reflected signal from the access fiber optic cable based on the optical pulse. The device may analyze the reflected signal to generate sensing results. The device may perform one or more actions based on the sensing results.

Systems and methods for sensing fiber optic cables of access networks

A random acoustic phase scrambler device is installed in-line with a telecommunications fiber link to prevent voice detection via fiber links. The device includes a transducer to produce vibrations; a length of optical fiber positioned to receive the vibration from the transducer; and a random acoustic phase driver configured to control the intensity and frequency of the vibrations. The transducer produces randomized vibrations within an acoustic bandwidth. The device is configured to introduce device-induced phase changes to signals within the telecommunications fiber link. The bandwidth of the device-induced phase changes is greater than the bandwidth of voice-induced phase changes, and the device-induced phase changes are greater in intensity than the voice-induced phase changes. The device-induced phase changes mask voice-induced phase changes through the telecommunications fiber link that are otherwise detectable by voice detection equipment tapped to the telecommunications fiber link.

System and method to prevent unauthorized voice detection via fiber links

A device may receive, from a fiber sensor device, sensing data associated with a fiber optic cable, the sensing data being produced by an activity that poses a threat of damage to the fiber optic cable, and the sensing data identifying: amplitudes of vibration signals, frequencies of the vibration signals, patterns of the vibration signals, times associated with the vibration signals, and locations along the fiber optic cable associated with the vibration signals. The device may process, with a machine learning model, the sensing data to determine a threat level of the activity to the fiber optic cable, the machine learning model having been trained based on historical information regarding detected vibrations, historical information regarding sources of the detected vibrations, and historical information regarding threat levels to the fiber optic cable. The device may perform one or more actions based on the threat level to the fiber optic cable.

Systems and methods for utilizing machine learning to minimize a potential of damage to fiber optic cables

A device may receive, from a sensor device, cable distance data identifying cable distances along the fiber cable to vibrations experienced by the fiber cable from a vibration device. The device may receive location data identifying geographic coordinates associated with the vibrations, and may correlate the cable distance data and the location data to generate correlated data. The device may receive, from the sensor device, data identifying a cable distance along the fiber cable to an alarm condition associated with the fiber cable, and may determine geographic coordinates associated with the alarm condition based on the correlated data and the data identifying the cable distance along the fiber cable to the alarm condition. The device may perform actions based on the geographic coordinates associated with the alarm condition.

Systems and methods for determining fiber cable geographic locations

In some implementations, a system may receive a cable map for a deployed cable. The system may receive vibration data indicating a vibration associated with a first section of the cable. The system may determine a characteristic associated with the first section of the cable based on the vibration. The system may determine a location associated with the characteristic based on the cable map. The system may determine that the first section of the cable is associated with the location based on the location being associated with the characteristic. The system may associate the location and a length of a second section of the cable extending from an initial location to the location. The system may receive an input identifying the length of the second section of the cable and may output the location based on associating the location and the length of the second section of the cable.

Systems and methods for identifying deployed cables

In some implementations, a device may obtain responsivity data for segments of a fiber optic cable. The device may receive, from a sensor device, vibration data associated with the fiber optic cable, the vibration data being produced by a vibration source in or on soil associated with the fiber optic cable. The device may normalize, based on the responsivity data, the vibration data. The device may determine, based on the normalized vibration data, a distance of the vibration source from the fiber optic cable. The device may perform one or more actions based on the distance satisfying a distance threshold.

Systems and methods for identifying threat distance to fiber optic cable

A method of providing a hybrid distributed fiber optic sensing system (DFOS) that extends an existing fiber optic telecommunications network thereby providing that existing fiber optic telecommunications network with DFOS capabilities. The method provides a length of fiber optic cable, wherein said fiber optic cable conveys communications traffic; provides a DFOS interrogator system in optical communication with the communications fiber optic cable; extends the length of communications fiber optic cable with first and second lengths of fiber optic sensory cable, and operates the DFOS interrogator system such that first sensory data is generated in the first length of fiber optic sensory cable and second sensory data is generated in the second length of fiber optic sensory cable and conveyed to the DFOS interrogator system via the communications fiber optic cable, wherein the first type of sensory data and the second type of sensory data is a type selected from the group consisting of acoustic data, temperature data, and vibration data and the first type of sensory data is not the same type as the second type of sensory data.

Method for providing a hybrid distributed fiber optic sensing system with improved connection to existing deployed fiber infrastructure

A system includes a hybrid mobile network/television antenna and a routing device connected to the antenna. The hybrid mobile network/television antenna receives content via a broadcast television network and receives content via a mobile network. The routing device includes a first communication interface that connects to the hybrid mobile network/television antenna, and a second communication interface that connects to a user device and receives a request for content from the user device. The routing device selects a network from the broadcast television network or the mobile network. The first communication interface receives the requested content via the selected network, and the routing device forwards the requested content to the user device via the second communication interface.
