The present disclosure discloses a system including a controller and a plurality of radio heads communicatively coupled to the controller. The controller transmits a synchronization signal to each of the radio heads to synchronize the local clocks in the radio heads to a master clock in the controller. The controller also transmits packets to the radio heads. Each of the radio heads includes a deframer. For a radio head, upon detecting that a received packet from the controller includes an error, the deframer alters the received packet to maintain the synchronization between the controller and the radio head and transmits data contained within the altered packet.

Maintaining synchronization in wireless networks

Indication of an amount of processing performed in detection and removal of ingress noise may be provided. A frequency domain representation of a narrowband region of a digital input signal may be received. The received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region may be compared with a predetermined threshold. Results from the comparison of the received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region with the predetermined threshold may be aggregated. Based on the aggregated results, an indication of an amount of processing performed by an ingress exciser in removing the ingress noise may be provided.

Techniques are disclosed to reduce latency of processing for access points using a central controller. For example, an example method of wireless communication includes receiving, at an access point, a signal wirelessly. The method further includes filtering the signal using a first passband filter having a first bandwidth to generate a first filtered signal. The method further includes filtering the signal using a second passband filter having a second bandwidth to generate a second filtered signal, wherein the first bandwidth is less than the second bandwidth. The method further includes determining whether the signal includes a packet based on the first filtered signal and generating a control signal indicative of the determination. The method further includes transmitting the control signal and the second filtered signal to a central controller.

Processing of wireless signals for access points using a central controller

The present disclosure discloses a system including a controller and multiple radio heads connected to the controller through communication cables. The controller transmits a synchronization signal to each of the radio heads to synchronize the local clocks in the radio heads to a master clock in the controller. The controller also transmits packets to the radio heads using the communication cables. Each of the radio heads includes a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), an antenna coupled to an output of the DAC, and a deframer coupled to an input of the DAC. For a radio head, upon detecting that a received packet from the controller includes an error, the deframer alters the received packet to maintain the synchronization between the controller and the radio head and transmits the altered packet to the DAC.

Indication of an amount of processing performed in detection and removal of ingress noise may be provided. A frequency domain representation of a narrowband region of a digital input signal may be received. The received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region may be compared with a predetermined threshold. Results from the comparison of the received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region with the predetermined threshold may be aggregated. Based on the aggregated results, an indication of an amount of processing performed by an ingress excizer in removing the ingress noise may be provided.

An apparatus can include a detector configured to detect a burst event for a selected frequency of a digital input signal having a predetermined bandwidth. The detector can provide a burst trigger, in response to detecting the burst event relative to a threshold, and provide other burst data for the detected burst event. A signal analyzer can be configured to measure signal information for another selected frequency of the digital input signal in response to the burst trigger. The signal analyzer can provide corresponding analysis data based on the measured signal information, the burst trigger, the other burst data, and the corresponding analysis data can be stored in memory.

A method is provided in one example and includes receiving a plurality of packets; identifying whether a particular packet, of the plurality of packets, is part of a sequenced flow; identifying whether a particular sequence number of the particular packet is being received within a time window; identifying whether the particular packet was a next expected packet for a particular flow; and forwarding the particular packet to a next destination. In more particular embodiments, packet inspection is used to set one or more flags for identifying characteristics associated with the plurality of packets. Certain packets in non-sequenced flows are routed directly from an input interface to an output interface of a resequencer module using a flow-through packet path.

Apparatus, system, and method for resequencing packets

Presented herein are non-disruptive noise estimation techniques that utilize a correlation between attributes of a received signal and the noise to generate estimated noise values for symbols of the signal. More specifically, a digital signal comprising symbols transmitted over a telecommunications network is received. For each of a plurality of the symbols, an estimated noise value associated with the respective symbol is generated through a correlation of a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) value to predetermined noise values. The estimated noise values for the plurality of symbols are used to generate noise information representing time and frequency characteristics of noise in the telecommunications network.
