Systems, methods and media for database synchronization on a network are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for database synchronization on a network protected with firewalls are disclosed. Embodiments include an e-mail listener for receiving e-mails from a plurality of computer systems and modifying a central database based on the received e-mails. In one embodiment, the computers systems and central database are protected by a firewall. Other embodiments provide for a transaction log that includes information about received e-mails. In these embodiments, the transaction log may optionally be used to synchronize other databases, including local databases located at the computer systems.

Database synchronization on a network

An information processing system, includes several processors, each having at least one optical fiber input and at least one optical fiber output; a controller having an optical fiber input and at least one fiber output; fibers, bundled for transmitting information; and a fiber bundle redriver, coupled to the controller, having an input channel and an output channel, for simultaneously redriving an optical signal received from any selected one of the plurality of input fibers onto substantially all of the plurality of output fibers. The fiber output of each of the plurality of processors and the at least one fiber output of the controller are respectively is coupled to the input channel of the fiber bundle redriver, and the at least one fiber input of each of said plurality of processors and the fiber input of the controller are respectively coupled to the output channel of the fiber bundle redriver.

Method and apparatus for a scalable parallel computer based on optical fiber broadcast

An optical signal transceiver subassembly is mounted on a lead frame for further attachment to an electronic printed circuit board. The optical subassembly is comprised of a solid-state laser, a pair of photo-detectors, an over-mold of transparent material having shapes forming the exposed surface thereof, the surface and a selective silvering of a portion thereof defining a beam-splitter mirror and an interior reflective focusing surface, preferably in the shape of a partial cylindrical surface. The beam-splitter mirror is lightly silvered and the cylindrical surface is silvered to enhance the reflection of the laser beam. The optical subassembly is further enclosed with a housing incorporating a pair of lenses and alignment pins. The lenses focus the data stream of optical light signals onto the end of the outgoing optical fiber and the data stream of optical light signals from the incoming optical fiber onto and through the beam-splitter and onto a first photo-detector. The beam-splitter and the partial cylindrical surface reflect the laser beam portion deflected from the primary laser beam path onto a second photo-detector to provide a data stream from which the operation of the laser may be monitored, thereby insuring the proper transmission of the data signals provided to the laser through the lead frame and its associated electronic connections.

Assembly of opto-electronic module with improved heat sink

A structure that includes a substrate, typically a semiconductor chip such as a VCSEL or photodetector chip, and a guide for aligning a signal conveying device, typically an optical fiber, to a transducer such as an optoelectronic device on the semiconductor chip. The guide is formed, in a preferred embodiment, by lithographically exposing and developing a thick layer of photoresist. The structure is assembled by placing and securing the signal conveying device into a cavity-like region of the guide.

Guides lithographically fabricated on semiconductor devices

A package is described that couples a twelve channel wide fiber optic cable to a twelve channel Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) transmitter and a multiple channel Perpendicularly Aligned Integrated Die (PAID) receiver. The package allows for reduction in the height of the assembly package by vertically orienting certain dies parallel to the fiber optic cable and horizontally orienting certain other dies. The assembly allows the vertically oriented optoelectronic dies to be perpendicularly attached to the horizontally oriented laminate via a flexible circuit.

Fiber optic connections and method for using same

An optical coupler includes a first plate and a second plate superposed over the first plate. At least the second plate has at least one groove formed therein. The at least one groove extends continuously from one edge of the second plate to another edge of the second plate. An optical fiber is disposed in the at least one groove.

An optical transceiver arrangement includes a retainer assembly. The retainer assembly includes at least one housing adapted to be coupled to a fiber optic cable, and at least one carrier assembly having a carrier, and a die chip attached to the carrier. The die chip has at least one active region. The optical transceiver arrangement further includes at least one optical coupler disposed within the housing for optically coupling the at least one active region to the fiber optic cable. The optical transceiver arrangement also includes a laminate assembly having the retainer assembly disposed thereon. The die chip is electrically coupled to the laminate assembly.

Enhanced optical transceiver arrangement

The present disclose provides methods and systems for positioning a fiber end of an optical fiber. A block is provided having an opening for receiving the optical fiber. The optical fiber is positioned in the opening to constrain the optical fiber in at least one direction. The optical fiber has a first portion with a free end which is cantilevered or extends from the block. The optical fiber is moved against the at least one direction which is constrained. The movement is provided from a position on a second portion of the optical fiber, which is opposite the first portion relative to the block. This movement causes a lateral displacement of the free end.

Fiber pivot for optical alignment

Alignment systems for optoelectronic modules with overmolded chip carriers include drilled or milled substrate corners for engaging dowel pins to precisely align the substrate in a mold for molding an overmold frame on the substrate. The overmold frame includes slot and trilobe holes for receiving retainer posts to precisely align a retainer assembly on the overmold frame. Cooperating standoff pads on the overmold frame and on the retainer assembly stabilize the assembly of these components and provide a precise gap for receiving an adhesive to permanently attach these two components. The retainer assembly carries optoelectronic components that include a flexible circuit, and a distal end portion of this flexible circuit and walls of a receiving cavity in the overmold frame have cooperating features for precisely aligning distal electrical leads of the flexible circuit with an array of electrical pads on the substrate. A permanent shroud on a proximate end portion of the flexible circuit protects and helps align proximate electrical leads with electrical pads on optic dies and their carriers.

Alignment systems for subassemblies of overmolded optoelectronic modules

A coupling arrangement includes a vertical cavity surface emitting laser. A carrier has the vertical cavity surface emitting laser affixed thereto. An optical coupler is coupled to the vertical cavity surface emitting laser, and has a plurality of optical fibers which receive light emitted from the vertical cavity surface emitting laser. The vertical cavity surface emitting laser is separated from the optical coupler by a gap and is free of direct contact with the optical coupler. The gap is less than about 50 microns, and is greater than zero microns. A curable adhesive is disposed in the gap for coupling the vertical cavity surface emitting laser to the optical coupler. The adhesive has a viscosity that defines a size of the gap.

Parallel optical coupling apparatus for coupling a connector attached to one end of a parallel optical cable to a receiver or transmitter array. A parallel fiber optic assembly includes a receiver or transmitter array subassembly that houses a parallel optical coupler for transferring optical signals from an array of sources (e.g., lasers) in the assembly to the connector, or from the connector to an array of receiving elements in the assembly. A connector shell is provided that properly aligns the connector with respect to the optical coupler array.

The invention is a radiofrequency identification tag comprising a semiconductor chip having radio frequency, logic, and memory circuits, and an antenna that are mounted on a substrate. The antenna may be used by the chip to modulate an incident RF signal to transfer information to a base station.
