A downhole equalization assembly permits selective and remote opening of at least one downhole port or pathway to allow communication of pressure and/or fluid flow from inside a pressure containing system (such as, for example, a tubular pipe or other pressure containment system) to the outside of the containment system, or vice versa. A control device generating a magnetic field is inserted into a well and conveyed to a downhole equalization assembly. When the control device passes through an equalization assembly, an electronic counter is triggered. When a predetermined counter number is reached, a sliding sleeve is shifted, thereby exposing ports and/or pathways extending between the inside and outside of the equalization assembly. No physical contact or mechanical interference is required between the control device and any other components in order to actuate the equalization assembly.

Method and apparatus for actuation of downhole sleeves and other devices

A downhole isolation tool includes a mandrel made of non-metallic material, the mandrel comprising an isolation region at a first end of the mandrel, a shear sleeve adapter disposable on an outer surface of the isolation region, the shear sleeve adapter having holes aligned with holes in the outer surface of the isolation region, a slip assembly positioned around an outer surface of the mandrel, a packing element positioned around the outer surface of the mandrel, and a shoe positioned around the outer surface of the mandrel at a second end of the mandrel.

Non-metallic slip assembly and related methods

A downhole isolation tool adapted to be converted in the field into any one of a bridge plug, ball drop plug, or a caged ball plug. The components used to assemble the tool, such as the mandrel, slips, and conversion adapters and accessories, are constructed primarily of non-metallic material. Through use of the disclosed isolation tool, drillout time is greatly reduced.

Convertible multi-function downhole isolation tool and related methods

A slip assembly adapted to be used with a downhole tool which comprises metal slip inserts attached to a slip carrier made of a non-metallic material, such as composite material. As such, the non-metallic slip carrier can eliminate 60-70% or more of the metal used in conventional slip assemblies. Through use of the disclosed slip assembly, downhole tools may be set, while also reducing the metallic material used therein and, thus, greatly reducing the drill out time.
