A device for displaying visual information to a user includes a waveguide and a lens positioned proximate the waveguide. The waveguide and lens are fixed relative to one another at a top portion of the waveguide and a top portion of the lens. An impact absorber is positioned between a part of the waveguide and a part of the lens, where the impact absorber is affixed to only one of the waveguide and the lens.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards socket contact techniques and configurations. In one embodiment, an apparatus may include a socket substrate having a first side and a second side disposed opposite to the first side, an opening formed through the socket substrate, an electrical contact disposed in the opening and configured to route electrical signals between the first side and the second side of the socket substrate, the electrical contact having a cantilever portion that extends beyond the first side, wherein the first side and surfaces of the socket substrate in the opening are plated with a metal. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Socket contact techniques and configurations

An LGA socket suitable for electro-optical modules, such as transceivers having channels operable at 25 Gbit/s, or greater. A socket may include a socket body having a bottom side to face a printed circuit board (PCB), and a backstop on a top side to receive a leading edge of a module substrate. The backstop has an overhang to contact a first side of the module substrate when seated into the socket body. The socket further includes a first and a second row of electrical contacts, the first row being more proximate to the backstop than is the second row. Contacts extend through the socket body between the top and bottom sides and are positioned relative to the overhang to be compressed against contact pads on a second side of the module substrate by a torque applied to the module substrate about a fulcrum within the socket body.

Method to secure a circuit board

A memory carrier system includes a carrier chassis that includes a board having a board connector. The board is operable to couple to a plurality of memory modules. A pair of pinion cams are rotatably mounted to the carrier chassis. A handle is moveably coupled to the carrier chassis and includes a pair of rack arms. Each rack arm engages a respective pinion cam. The carrier chassis is operable to be positioned in an information handling system (IHS) chassis that includes an IHS connector, and the handle is operable to be moved relative to the carrier chassis in order to rotate the pinion cams into an engagement with the IHS chassis that provides a cam force that mates the board connector to the IHS connector.

Systems and methods to secure a circuit board

A fan mounting system includes a fan chassis defining a plurality of fan housings. A guide member is located on the fan chassis. At least one board support member extends from the fan chassis and is operable to extend through a board to engage an Information Handling System (IHS) chassis when the fan chassis is positioned in the IHS chassis. An IHS chassis cover anchor is located on the fan chassis and is operable to engage an IHS chassis cover and secure the IHS chassis cover to the IHS chassis when the fan chassis is coupled to the IHS chassis.

High serviceability heatsink retainer method and apparatus

A system to connect cards in a chassis is provided. The system includes a chassis frame having a slot to receive a card. A rocker is coupled to the chassis frame and positioned in a closed state when the card is in the slot. A magnetic element is positioned on the rocker and a sensor positioned to detect a magnetic field generated by the magnetic element. The sensor then determines whether the rocker is positioned an open state or said closed state.

The invention in one particular embodiment is a bracket including a base having an opening shaped to accommodate a socket for an integrated circuit device; and at least one containment member rigidly extending from the base to define a void shaped to accommodate the integrated circuit. In another embodiment, a method for mounting an integrated circuit device to a printed circuit board comprises affixing a bracket to the printed circuit board; mounting a socket to the printed circuit board; and coupling the integrated circuit to the socket, the integrated circuit being vertically and laterally constrained by the bracket.

A fastening system and a method for retaining temperature control devices used on semiconductor dies transfers the load of the temperature control devices around the semiconductor dies using a spring collet arrangement. An elongated spring collet is installed in a hole in the temperature control device so as to extend outwardly from the temperature control device with the spring collet being movable in the hole relative to the temperature control device in the direction of elongation of the spring collet. An expansion spring resiliently biases the spring collet so as to extend outwardly. An outer end of the spring collet is positioned in a pocket of a retention mechanism of a support member. An electrical connection is made as the temperature control device with semiconductor die is forced down until a pin grid array thereon is properly seated in a socket on the support member. A retention screw is then extended through the spring collet for connection with the retention mechanism and expansion of the spring collet into locking engagement with the temperature control device to retain the temperature control device.

Fastening system and method of retaining temperature control devices used on semiconductor dies

A card support releasably retains the edges of a plurality of electronic cards in a card guide panel. The card support is formed with a card support bracket and a plurality of card retention tabs connected to the bracket by way of flexible members for releasably retaining the edges of respective cards in guide channels of the card guide panel. The retention tabs have ramps on one side for engagement with the edges of the cards being installed for momentarily moving the tabs back out of the way, allowing the cards to slide past the tabs. Once installed, the opposite sides of the tabs, which are flat, extend over the rear edge of the installed cards to retain them in the guide channels, especially during shock and vibration, including dropping the box upside down.

A hot plug retainer and actuator is used on a chassis for releasably securing a component on the chassis. The retainer and actuator includes a one piece body having a first portion, a second portion and a living hinge pivotably connecting the first and second portions to one another for opening and closing the actuator.
