The disclosed strap adjustment device may include a pinion gear secured to an adjustment knob, a first rack secured to a first strap and engaged with the pinion gear, a second rack secured to a second strap and engaged with the pinion gear, a braking element disposed adjacent to an inner surface of a drum, a brake engagement element configured to press the at least one braking element toward the inner surface of the drum to maintain a length of the first strap and the second strap by engagement of the braking element against the inner surface of the drum, and a spiral spring configured to allow for an increase in a length of the first strap and the second strap when a tension force is applied to at least one of the first strap or the second strap.

A head-mounted display (HMD) system may include a body having a right side and a left side, a display device coupled to the body and positioned to display content to a user when the HMD system is donned by the user, a right side arm coupled to the right side of the body and dimensioned such that, when coupled to a first portion of a swappable strap, the right side arm and the first portion of the strap form a first fastener, and a left side arm coupled to the left side of the body and dimensioned such that, when coupled to a second portion of the strap, the left side arm and the second portion of the strap form a second fastener. Swappable strap for a head-mounted display system

A hand-held controller includes a handle extending in a longitudinal direction. The handle is shaped and dimensioned to be grasped by a hand of a user. A ring is attached to an end of the handle and surrounds a thumb of the user when the handle is grasped by the hand of the user. The ring has an annular surface defining a plane that forms a predetermined angle with respect to the longitudinal direction. The ring also has a curved outer surface. A sensor is embedded within the ring or mounted on a side surface of the handle to detect whether the hand of the user grasping the handle is a right hand of the user or a left hand of the user.

Head-mounted display

An apparatus for creating haptic simulations is provided. The apparatus includes a body that defines an inner cavity, and a pair of connectors positioned adjacent to ends of the body. A wire electrically connects the connectors and is wound around a first portion of the body in a first direction and wound around a second portion of the body in an opposite direction. A ring magnet is secured to an outer surface of the body. An armature magnet is slidably positioned within the inner cavity aligned with the ring magnet due to its magnetic pull. When a current is driven through the wire, simultaneous push and pull forces are created, causing the armature magnet to oscillate within the inner cavity to create vibration. When a magnitude of the current driven exceeds a threshold, the armature magnet impacts a stop of the inner cavity to create a 'click' stimulation.
