The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for generating drum patterns. In one embodiment a method includes receiving a user generated input including a plurality of events during a time interval, and detecting the events. The method also includes analyzing the events to define a rhythmic pattern based on number of events detected, placement of each event in the time interval, and duration of the time interval. Each of the plurality of events may be classified into at least one type of drum pattern element and a drum pattern may be generated based on the rhythmic pattern to include a drum element for each event of the rhythmic pattern. In certain embodiments, pitch or tone of the events may be determined to classify events as components of a drum pattern. Processes and devices allow for professional sounding drum patterns to be output based on received input.

Device configurations and methods for generating drum patterns

A frequency-domain peak detector is configured to detect harmonic content of a digital input signal. An equalizer-based feedback synthesizer is configured to generate simulated feedback at a specified frequency by filtering existing content of the digital input signal at the specified frequency. A tone-based feedback synthesizer is configured to generate simulated feedback at the specified frequency by generating a tone at the specified frequency. Feedback selection logic is configured to determine the specified frequency at which to generate simulated feedback based on the harmonic content, and whether to utilize the equalizer-based feedback synthesizer or the tone-based feedback synthesizer to generate simulated feedback at the specified frequency.

Guitar feedback emulation

In at least one embodiment, a method of performing automatic transcription of musical content included in an audio signal received by a computing device is provided. The method includes processing, using the computing device, the received audio signal to extract musical information characterizing at least a portion of the musical content and generating, using the computing device, a plurality of musical notations representing alternative musical interpretations of the extracted musical information. The method further includes applying a selected one of the plurality of musical notations for transcribing the musical content of the received audio signal.

Automatic transcription of musical content and real-time musical accompaniment

Systems and methods for adjusting pitch of an audio signal include detecting input notes in the audio signal, mapping the input notes to corresponding output notes, each output note having an associated upper note boundary and lower note boundary, and modifying at least one of the upper note boundary and the lower note boundary of at least one output note in response to previously received input notes. Pitch of the input notes may be shifted to match an associated pitch of corresponding output notes. Delay of the pitch shifting process may be dynamically adjusted based on detected stability of the input notes.

Dynamically adapted pitch correction based on audio input

Various embodiments provide techniques for generating real-time musical accompaniment for musical content included in an audio signal. A real-time musical accompaniment system receives the audio signal via an audio input device. The system extract, from the audio signal, musical information characterizing at least a portion of the musical content. The system generates musical information that has at least one of a rhythmic relationship and a harmonic relationship with the musical information. The system generates an output audio signal that is complementary to the musical information. The system transmits, substantially immediately after receiving the audio signal, the output audio signal to an audio output device.

A vocal effect processing system may include an effect modification module configured to selectively and dynamically apply effects to an input audio signal in accordance with a degree of likelihood that the input audio signal includes a vocal signal and/or based on a proximate location of a source of vocal audio with respect to a vocal microphone. Determination of the degree of likelihood that the input audio signal includes a vocal signal and/or the proximate location may be based on processing of the input audio signal or a plurality of input audio signals. Determination of the proximate location may alternatively, or in addition, be estimated based on a proximity sensor. The effect modification module may dynamically and selectively adjust the effects in response to changes in the degree of likelihood that the vocal signal is included in the input audio signal and/or changes in the estimated proximate location.

A feedback suppression system for reducing acoustic feedback may include a controller configured to buffer a series of incoming digital sample signals to provide a plurality of buffered signals, the incoming digital sample signal being indicative of an audio input signal that includes audio data and acoustic feedback, determine a complex spectrum of the plurality of buffered signals, determine a magnitude squared spectrum from the complex spectrum, identify at least one peak in the magnitude squared spectrum, identify a frequency of the at least one identified peak using a phase enhanced frequency estimate, and set a notch filter at the identified frequency to eliminate the acoustic feedback of the audio input signal.

Melody and accompaniment audio signals are received and processed to identify one or more harmony notes and a harmony signal is produced based on the one or more harmony notes. Typically the melody note is identified and a spectrum of the accompaniment audio signal and is obtained, and one or more harmony notes are identified based on the melody note and the accompaniment spectrum. The melody, and accompaniment signals can be processed in real-time for combination with the harmony signal in an audio performance. In some examples, audio signals are processed and harmonies generated for subsequent performance based on, for example, MIDI files generated from the audio signals.

Musical harmony generation from polyphonic audio signals

A guitar delay engine such as a multi-tap delay pedal or other rhythm engine such as a vocal multi-tap delay pedal, a drum machine, or any other device that requires setting a rhythmic pattern (i.e. level and timing information) for operation is provided. In a guitar delay device, the guitarist can hold down a foot pedal, play a rhythmic pattern on their guitar, and then release the foot pedal and have the rhythmic pattern just played emulated in the delay pattern on the device.
