A spray nozzle assembled from a nozzle tip of a hard abrasive resistant material and having a plurality of splines about an outer peripheral surface being press-fit into a nozzle adapter formed of a softer, more machineable material to mechanically lock and form a liquid seal between the nozzle tip and the nozzle adapter.

A dispensing apparatus including an airless ribbon nozzle having a nozzle tip formed with a nozzle bore tapering radially inwardly from an inlet end to a semispherical-shaped discharge end which intersects a rectangular-shaped discharge slot. The nozzle is mounted in position on a coating dispenser such that the inlet of the nozzle tip communicates with a coating passageway within the dispenser to receive coating material which is emitted from the discharge slot of the nozzle tip in a wide, splash-free, leaf-shaped pattern.

A method of substantially eliminating corona discharge at the high-value resistor of an electrostatic spray gun comprises the steps of inserting an insulating tube within a bore formed in the gun barrel, positioning a high-value resistor in the insulating tube, filling a portion of the insulating tube with a slug of dielectric material such as grease and then inserting a high voltage cable into the insulating tube so as to force the grease ahead of the cable. The grease encapsulates the resistor and flows into the space between the insulating tube and bore in the gun barrel to eliminate the presence of air around the resistor so as to prevent corona discharge.
