A covered vascular filter can be placed in a blood vessel, for the purpose of intercepting thrombus. The filter may be introduced to a desired site for medical treatment through a catheter which defines a lumen or passage and a distal port or opening. The filter tends to resiliently expand from a compressed shape when it is inside the catheter lumen, to an expanded shape when the filter is pushed from the catheter lumen. A cover or sleeve over those portions of the filter that would otherwise contact the vessel wall tends to reduce pressure on the vessel wall. The sleeve also tends to resist growth of the vessel wall among the elements of the filter, called endothelialization. In other words, the sleeve resists incorporation of the filter elements into the vessel wall, enabling the filter to be retrievable for a longer time. The various features of the present invention may be used singly or in any combination, as desired in a particular vascular filter.

The present invention relates to a retrievable medical filter which can be placed in a blood vessel or other body passage. The filter has improved structural features for enhancing its performance, including deployment, filtration and position stability at the desired site, as well as retrievability. The filter may preferably have a hook structure that provides multiple retrieval surfaces, or may be provided with anchors for removably retaining the filter in position. A filter may be designed with one end being customized for retrieval and the other end being customized for position retention, in which case a cartridge may be provided to ensure proper orientation of the filter during delivery.

Retrievable medical filter

The present invention relates to a vascular filter ( ) which can beplaced in a blood vessel, and which comprises at least one passage with a circumference suitable for the purpose of intercepting thrombus, wherein the filter ( ) comprises a longitudinal body member ( ) with, in a position of use, a circumference corresponding to the internal diameter of the blood vessel transverse to the longitudinal direction thereof. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing vascular filter ( ).

Vascular filter

A vascular filter for temporary or permanent implantation within a body vessel to filter particulates or thrombus in the blood stream, is capable of being converted some time after initial implantation into a tubular stent. In this configuration, the stent tends to hold the vessel open without any significant filtering effect. The convertible filter/stent may have a tubular metal mesh structure. Also, the device may form one or more filter lattices when in the filter configuration.

Vascular filter convertible to a stent and method

The present invention relates to a vascular filter which can be placed inside a body cavity, such as a blood vessel. A catheter may be used to deliver the filter, and consists of a tubular basic body with a distal end, a proximal end and a lumen extending between the ends. The vascular filter may be received in a compressed state inside the catheter lumen. The catheter may include an ejection device, which can be used to eject the vascular filter from the distal end of the catheter. Some portion of the vascular filter may tend to push off in a resilient manner against the distal end of the catheter, and the filter preferably includes a brake for acting on the catheter lumen, which tends to slow and control ejection from the catheter.

Vascular filter for controlled release

A drainage catheter comprises a tubular basic catheter body defining separate catheter lumens respectively comprising a pressure channel and a discharge channel. Connectors are provided at the proximal end of the catheter for respectively connecting the pressure channel to a source of liquid under pressure and the discharge channel to a discharge receptacle. An inlet opening is positioned in the side of the catheter adjacent the distal end thereof. The discharge channel communicates with the inlet opening, while the pressure channel extends from the proximal and distally forward of the inlet opening and then curves rearwardly to join the discharge channel at the inlet opening. The catheter also includes a first normally-closed valve positioned within the pressure channel and a second normally closed valve positioned within the discharge channel and an actuator coupled to both the first and second valves so that the valves may be simultaneously moved from their normally closed positions to open positions for the operation of the catheter.

Drainage catheter with hemostatic device

A suction catheter has a tubular body with a distal end, a proximal end, and an inlet lumen and a discharge lumen formed in the catheter body. At the distal end of the catheter, the inlet lumen is connected with a nozzle, and the discharge lumen opens into a suction inlet. At the proximal end of the catheter, the lumens are connected to a proximal hub having an inlet port and a discharge port. The inlet lumen may be formed in a separate tube received inside the catheter body, and the suction catheter may include a guidewire lumen adapted to receive a guidewire.

Suction catheter and method

A double-lumen angioscopy catheter is provided which includes separate passageways for a guidewire and for an optic fiber bundle, which passageways are joined into a single tubular component for the portion of the catheter which enters the body. The passageways are separated from each other at the location external of the body whereby each of the guidewire and the optic fiber bundle can be inserted and removed in separate stages. An assembly can also be provided for passing flushing liquid through either or both of the passageways. The guidewire can be used to maneuver the distal end of the optic fiber bundle so as to accomplish controlled inspection within the body vessel. The angioscopy catheter facilitates a procedure whereby a single guidewire is inserted and remains in place throughout use of the angioscopy catheter, whether during pretreatment or posttreatment inspection. The same guidewire likewise remains in place and functions as a guidewire for a treatment catheter such as a percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty catheter.
