A method of controlling the renewable energy absorbed by a hybrid power train for driving a load, and in particular compressors for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant is disclosed. The method comprises an analysis of the health status of part and of the whole hybrid power plant that drive the load. A power plant is also disclosed, operated by the controlling method.

An integrated hermetically sealed turboexpander-generator comprises a hermetically sealed casing arrangement, a turboexpander, a compressor and an electric generator, arranged in the hermetically sealed casing arrangement along a common shaft line, supported by active magnetic bearings. Also disclosed is a thermodynamic system using the integrated hermetically sealed turboexpander-generator to convert waste heat from a waste heat source into electric power. The electric generator is arranged at one end of the common shaft line.

The centrifugal compressor has a housing with two or more compressor inlets for process gas to be compressed; an impeller is located inside the housing so to receive an inlet flow of process gas from the two compressor inlets through a plenum chamber and increases gas pressure as process gas flows in the impeller; thanks to the two or more inlets, uniformity of flow at the inlets may be achieved through short collector pipes fluidly connected upstream of the inlets; piping of a compressor system including such compressor is made easy as it is subject to fewer constraints.

An integrated hermetically sealed turboexpander-generator comprises a hermetically sealed casing arrangement, a turboexpander, a compressor and an electric generator, arranged in the hermetically sealed casing arrangement along a common shaft line, supported by active magnetic bearings. Also disclosed is a thermodynamic system using the integrated hermetically sealed turboexpander-generator to convert waste heat from a waste heat source into electric power. One of the turboexpander and of the compressor comprises two sections arranged in an overhung configuration at the ends of the common shaft line.

A device configured to seal a circumferential gap between a first turbomachine component and a second turbomachine component mutually rotatable about a longitudinal axis. The device is provided with a first sealing element connected to the first turbomachine component and with a second scaling element having an inner part provided with a plurality of projections extending towards the second machine component to define the teeth of a labyrinth seal between the high pressure region and the low pressure region of the turbo machine. The outer part of the second sealing element is connected to the first sealing element through an clastic element. One or more pressure chambers located between the first sealing element and the second sealing element are in fluid communication with the processing fluid of the turbomachine to derive a force acting on the outer part of the second scaling element in the direction of gap closure.

Labyrinth sealing device

A turbomachine system includes a turbomachine provided with a turbomachine rotor. The turbomachine rotor is comprised of a turbomachine shaft with a first shaft end and a second shaft end. The turbomachine shaft is supported by active magnetic bearings for rotation in a turbomachine casing. The turbomachine system further includes a rotary machine drivingly coupled to the first shaft end, and a first closed cooling circuit adapted to circulate a cooling fluid therein and fluidly coupled to the active magnetic bearings to remove heat therefrom. The closed cooling circuit includes a cooling fluid impeller mounted on the turbomachine shaft for rotation therewith and adapted to circulate the cooling fluid in the closed cooling circuit. The closed cooling circuit further includes a heat exchanger adapted to remove heat from the cooling fluid. A method of operating a turbomachine system is further disclosed.

An expander and motor-compressor unit is disclosed. The unit includes a casing and an electric motor arranged in the casing. A compressor is arranged in the casing and drivingly coupled to the electric motor through a central shaft. Furthermore, a turbo-expander is arranged for rotation in the casing and is drivingly coupled to the electric motor and to the compressor through the central shaft.
