A laundry dryer having a cabinet, a rotatable drum, a duct defining a flow passage for process air, and a filter assembly positioned in the duct. The filter assembly includes a frame, a filter surface, and a cleaning device. The cleaning device includes wiper seat, a wiper, and a handle portion connected to the wiper portion. The cleaning device is pivotally attached to the frame to rotate around an axis, to be movable from a first resting position in which the handle is substantially completely housed in the wiper seat, to a plurality of wiping positions in which the wiper portion wipes the first filtering surface. In at least in one of the wiping positions, the handle portion protrudes from the wiper seat, and the handle portion is operable to perform the transition from the first resting position to any of the wiping positions.

A laundry dryer () has a casing, a laundry storing compartment () arranged within the casing for receiving laundry () to be dried by passing process air (A) through the laundry storing compartment (), and a heat exchanger () for dehumidifying the process air (A) after passing the laundry storing compartment (). Furthermore, the dryer () has a condensate collecting device () for collecting condensate formed at the heat exchanger (), and a removable condensate reservoir () for storing condensed water formed at the heat exchanger (). Moreover, the dryer has a control unit () for controlling the operation of the laundry dryer (), and a pumping and feeding arrangement () for pumping condensate collected in the condensate collecting device () through an internal line () to the removable condensate reservoir (). The pumping and feeding arrangement () is fluidly connected to a draining line () for pumping condensate collected in the condensate collecting device () selectively through said internal line () and/or through said draining line (). The draining line () is adapted to be selectively connected to an external sink for discharging the condensate outside the dryer casing or to the removable condensate reservoir () to supply the condensate pumped through the draining line () to the removable condensate reservoir ().

Laundry dryer and method of operating a laundry dryer

A laundry dryer () has a casing (), a laundry storing compartment () arranged within the casing () for receiving laundry () to be dried by passing process air through the laundry storing compartment, a heat exchanger () for dehumidifying the process air after passing the laundry storing compartment (), and a removable condensate reservoir () for storing condensed water formed at the heat exchanger (). The reservoir () has a reservoir outlet for draining condensate liquid stored therein and a closing element for closing the reservoir outlet when the condensate reservoir is extracted from a reservoir compartment (). The reservoir compartment () is associated to the casing () for receiving and housing the removable condensate reservoir (), wherein the removable condensate reservoir () can be extracted from and inserted into the reservoir compartment (). A supply line () for cleaning a component of the dryer and including a supply line inlet fluidly connected to the reservoir outlet () when the removable condensate reservoir () is inserted in the reservoir compartment (), a supply line outlet for delivering condensed water to the component to be cleaned, and a pump () for conveying condensed water from the supply line inlet to the supply line outlet. A coupling arrangement associated to the reservoir outlet () and/or the supply line inlet and adapted to actuate the closing element. The coupling arrangement is adapted to maintain the closing element in an open state when the condensate reservoir () is inserted into the reservoir compartment (), such that condensate liquid can freely flow from the reservoir outlet to the supply line (); and wherein the a portion of the supply line () is located above a maximum condensate liquid level of the condensate reservoir ().
