Herein is disclosed a multifunctional tool with replaceable tool tips. The disclosed multifunctional tool may be used as an end-effector on a robotic arm in space. Each tool tip, when in the tool holder, is driven by a common motor. The same motor can also be used to control the orientation of the tool tip about an axis. The tool tips are replaceable in the tool holder by simple and robust means, resulting in a lighter and cheaper multifunctional tool. The tool tips can be variously adapted to perform a variety of functions, including cutting, grasping, drilling, driving, etc. Since the tool may be driven by only one actuator, and the single actuator may be used to drive both the tool and rotation of the tool, mass can be saved. Use of such a multifunctional tool also reduces overall system power requirements, and system complexity.

Robotic servicing multifunctional tool

A gear pump comprises a casing having an inlet, an interior, and an outlet. An inlet gear is positioned at the inlet and pressurizes fluid received at the inlet. A drive gear is positioned at the outlet of the casing, the drive gear receiving fluid pressurized by the inlet gear to output pressurized fluid at the outlet. A speed-reduction gear is meshed to the drive gear and connected to the at least one inlet gear, the speed-reduction gear having a greater number of teeth than the drive gear to reduce a rotational speed from the drive gear to the inlet gear, such that the inlet gear has a lower speed that the drive gear. An input shaft is coupled to the drive gear and receives a rotational input to actuate the drive gear.

High-speed gear pump

A gas turbine engine including a gas exhaust duct assembly which comprises an annular shroud forming at least a section of an inner wall of a gas exhaust duct, a plurality of strut members radially projecting from the shroud, and a plurality of insert members. The strut members are disposed in a circumferentially, substantially equally spaced-apart relationship, and extend in a substantially axial direction. The insert members each define a circumferential section of an outer wall of the gas exhaust duct and are positioned in a space between adjacent strut members, and are secured to same. The gas exhaust duct is thereby defined between inner surfaces of the insert members and the outer surface of the shroud, and is circumferentially divided by the respective strut members, for directing exhaust gases rearwardly in an axial direction, meanwhile surrounding flow passages are defined by outer surfaces of the insert members and the strut members in combination, for directing surrounding air flows rearwardly in an axial, radial and inward direction.

Combined exhaust duct and mixer for a gas turbine engine

A method and apparatus for controllable distribution of power from a turbine of a gas turbine engine between two rotatable loads of the gas turbine engine, comprises transferring a shaft power of the turbine to the respective rotatable loads using differential gearing operatively coupled with the turbine and the rotatable loads, respectively; and controlling the power transfer using machines operatively coupled with the respective rotatable loads, operable as a generator or a motor for selectively taking power from one of the rotatable loads to drive the other of the rotatable loads, or the reverse.
