A method produces a filter element () having a filter mat () enclosed by at least one fluid-permeable outer envelope (). By an energy input method, at least one part of the filter mat (), which faces toward the outer envelope (), is connected to the outer envelope in at least one connecting zone (). A filter element is produced by this method.

Method of manufacturing a filter element and filter element

A filter element () includes individual components (), such as a filter medium () as one component and further filter element components (), of which at least one component () is made of a material that is at least partially transparent to laser light and at least one further component (), in the manner of a barrier layer, is made of a material that is at least partially opaque to laser light to perform a transmission welding method by laser light for connecting associable components to each other. At least some of the components of the filter element that are exposed to the laser light during the transmission welding method are at least partially electrically conductive.
