A method of managing circuit-switched calls in a mobile communications network supporting packet-switched sessions is performed as follows: upon reception by the mobile communications network of a circuit-switched call for a user of the mobile communication network, the network ascertains whether the user is engaged in a packet-switched session. In the affirmative case, the network closes the packet-switched data exchange session prior to attempting to route the call to the user.

A radio coverage extender is provided for extending the radio range of a wireless network node embedded in a user terminal, for example a ZigBee node integrated on the SIM card of a mobile phone. The radio coverage extender may include: a radio signal repeater operable to receive radio signals from the wireless network node and to retransmit the received signals externally to the user terminal, and a power supply module operable to scavenge electrical energy from electromagnetic fields in which it happens to be immersed and to store the scavenged electrical energy for supplying the stored power to the radio signal repeater. The radio coverage extender is adapted to be included in a user terminal, for example it can be a flexible, pliable film attachable to a user terminal battery.

A mobile network is adapted to provide a first mobile telephony service to a first group of subscribers and a second mobile telephony service to a second group of subscribers. The mobile network includes a home location register; at least one switching equipment cooperating with the home location register for providing the first mobile telephony service to the first group of subscribers; at least one adapter node cooperating with the home location register and with the switching equipment for providing the second mobile telephony service to the second group of subscribers.

A method of making network services available to a subscriber of a first mobile communications network when the subscriber roams in a second mobile communications network. The method includes: intercepting a signaling message issued by a service switching function of the second mobile communications network as a consequence to a service request by the subscriber; checking the intercepted signaling message; and based on the check, updating the intercepted signaling message so as to include service addressing data adapted to invoke a service in the first mobile communications network.

Method for allowing access to services offered by an intelligent mobile communications network

A method and a related system for forwarding a telephone call from a caller intended to be directed to a first, fixed, telephony number to a second, mobile, telephone number in order to render an intended responder associated with the mobile telephony number reachable at a mobile phone instead that at a fixed telephone. The method includes having the caller place a call to a virtual mobile telephony number associated with the fixed telephony number; conditioned to the fact that call forwarding from the fixed telephony number to the mobile telephony number is enabled, routing the call to the mobile telephony number; and, if the responder accepts, terminating the call from the caller at the mobile telephony number of the responder instead of at the fixed telephony number, so as to establish a direct telephone call between the caller and the responder. This direct telephone call is viewed by the caller as a call to a mobile telephony number, and, in particular, the caller sustains the cost of the call.
