A hybrid train system comprising at least one gas turbine to drive a load, and an electric machine unit, also connected to the load. A clutch is installed between the gas turbine and the load. Also, an integrated reduction gear unit is interposed between the load and the electric machine unit, to adapt to different operating speeds.

Dual purpose integrated gear for hybrid train application

The system includes: a driver; a rotating load configured to be driven into rotation by the driver; a controller, for controllably changing a rotation speed of the load; and a variable speed transmission, arranged between the driver and the load. The variable speed transmission includes a speed summing gear arrangement with a first input shaft, a second input shaft and an output shaft. The output shaft is drivingly coupled to the rotating load. The first input shaft is drivingly coupled to the driver. A continuous variable transmission device is mechanically coupled to the driver and to the second input shaft of the speed summing gear arrangement. The continuous variable transmission device is functionally coupled to the controller.

Variable speed transmission and system using same

The system comprises: a main driver configured for rotating at a substantially constant rotational speed; a rotating load configured to be driven into rotation by the main driver; a controller, for controllably adjusting a load rotational speed; a variable speed transmission, arranged between the main driver and the load and comprised of a speed summing gear arrangement having a first input shaft, a second input shaft and an output shaft; an auxiliary driver, mechanically coupled to the second input shaft of the speed summing gear arrangement. The first input shaft of the speed summing gear arrangement is drivingly coupled to the main driver. The output shaft of the speed summing gear arrangement is drivingly coupled to the rotating load. The speed of the output shaft is a combination of a speed of the main driver and of a speed of the auxiliary driver.

Variable speed transmission with auxiliary driver and system using same

Disclosed herein is an integrated power generation and load driving system, comprising in combination a multi-shaft gas turbine engine comprising a high-pressure turbine mechanically coupled to an air compressor; and a low-pressure turbine, fluidly coupled to but mechanically separated from the high-pressure turbine and mechanically coupled to an output power shaft wherein the output power shaft is connected to a shaft line an electric generator, mechanically coupled to the shaft line and driven into rotation by the gas turbine engine a rotating load, mechanically coupled to the shaft line and driven into rotation by the gas turbine engine a load control arrangement, configured for controlling at least one operating parameter of the rotating load to adapt the operating condition of the rotating load to process requirements from a process, whereof the rotating load forms part, while the low-pressure turbine and the electric generator rotate at a substantially constant speed.

Integrated power generation and compression train, and method

A drive system for driving at least one compressor is described. The system comprises a gas turbine configured and arranged for driving the compressor. The gas turbine has a hot end and a cold end. A load coupling for connection of said gas turbine to the compressor is arranged at hot end of the gas turbine. An electric motor/generator arranged at the cold end of the gas turbine. The electric motor/generator is electrically connected to an electric power grid and is adapted to function as a generator for converting excess mechanical power from the gas turbine into electrical power and delivering the electrical power to the electric power grid, and as a motor for supplementing driving power to the compressor.

Gas turbine in mechanical drive applications and operating methods

An apparatus for driving a load is provided. The apparatus comprises a multiple-shaft gas turbine comprising a high pressure compressor and a high pressure turbine drivingly connected to one another by a first gas turbine shaft and a low pressure compressor and a power turbine drivingly connected to one another by a second gas turbine shaft extending coaxial with the first gas turbine shaft, the high pressure compressor and the high pressure turbine. The apparatus also comprises a load coupling drivingly connecting the power turbine to the load and a dual-speed turning gear with an output shaft drivingly engageable to and disengageable from the load, the dual-speed turning gear comprising a low speed turning motor and a high speed turning motor, wherein the low speed turning motor and the high speed turning motor are configured to selectively drive the load.
