A high-speed digital printing system includes two unwinding machines for two input coils for a paper web, an input unwinding and splicing installation and a printing station and in which the input installation supplies, in turn, the printing station with the web of the two coils. The system also includes a splicing and rewinding installation with an output cutting and splicing equipment for an incoming web emerging from the printing station and two rewinding machines with two output coils. The output equipment feeds alternatively the rewinding machines with the incoming web by cutting and splicing of a web of the two output coils without stopping printing. An electronic controller switches the functionality of the output cutting and splicing equipment and of the rewinding machines with setting of the output coils as an operating coil and a waiting coil and, viceversa, as a waiting coil and an operating coil.

High speed digital printing system and method for continuous web

A cutting equipment which trims strips of webs in movement includes a stationary trimming blade and a rotating cylinder with a mobile trimming blade; the rotating cylinder includes a sector with suction openings connected to a vacuum source, which retains the strips by suction and drags the strips up to a strip collector; the cutting equipment cuts and separates transversal strips of two webs overlapped in adherence jointly to the cutting of basic sheets; a perforating device perforates a row of holes on the first web adjacent to an edge of the sheets; and a first web is positioned with the row of holes in front of the suction openings, while the strip of the second web is retained and dragged by suction through the holes of the first web up to the strip collector.

Transversal cutting equipment for trimming strips

Splicing equipment for strips of paper, paper tissue, plastic and the like, defines an outgoing strip with a first strip and a second strip directed toward a user apparatus by means of two cutting mechanisms and two splicing group. In particular, the equipment comprises an output arresting mechanism actuatable for arresting the outgoing strip during the operations of cutting and splicing; and two respective applying devices for a double sided adhesive film. The splicing groups include a respective retaining member provided for retaining, after cutting and separation, an initial edge of the first strip or, respectively, an initial edge of the second strip in preparation of splicing on a terminal edge of the outgoing strip; and in which the applying devices are selectively actuatable for automatically depositing the double sided adhesive film on the initial edge of the first strip or, respectively, on the initial edge of the second strip.

Splicing equipment for strips wound on a pair of spools

A process for the production of books () with digital printing from signatures, in which the book comprises signature groups (), each formed with basic sheets (), are parts of respective signature sheets (). The process employs a manufacturing system () which includes a transversal cutting equipment () for cutting transversally the signatures sheets, and transversal and longitudinal folding equipment () for the formation of respective signatures (). For a book with at least a sheet section devoid of text and/or figures in a last signature group, the method provides: a) identify a reduced signature group () including a number of sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures; b) cut the paper strip () to separate the reduced signature group as reduced signature group; c) actuate the transversal folding equipment () limited to the sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures and skipping the actuation of the transversal folding equipment () for a single sheet section; and d) actuate the longitudinal folding equipment () for folding longitudinally the reduced signature group.

Process and system for the production of books with digital printing and respective book

Cutting equipment () which processes overlapped continuous forms (H,L) is disclosed. The cutting is carried out by means of a cutting device (), which separates the sheets from the forms, introduction devices (H andL), which enter the continuous forms (H,L) into the cutting device and a singularizing device () for overlapped sheets, which includes two transport paths (and), the one above the other, with differentiable transfer times; the singularizing device comprises a diverter () upstream of the transport paths (and); the introduction devices (H andL) are actuatable for temporarily projecting a leading edge of one of the overlapped forms (H,L) with respect to the other form up to a switching zone of the diverter (), or for advancing together the overlapped forms (H,L); the diverter () is configurable for addressing a continuous form or both forms (H,L) to one or to both transport paths (and); and the introduction devices (H andL) are also actuatable, in the case of projecting of one of the continuous forms, for lining up trailing edges of the sheets of the one and the other form for a joint cutting of the overlapped forms (H,L) by means of the cutting device ().

Transversal cutting equipment for sheets separable from overlapped continuous forms

A process for the production of books () with digital printing on a continuous paper strip (), in which the strip defines book sections in sequence, with signature groups (), each formed with basic sheets (); the process employs a manufacturing system () which includes a transversal cutting equipment () for separating signature groups () as signatures sheets, and transversal and longitudinal folding equipment () for the formation of respective signatures (); for a book with at least a sheet section devoid of text and/or figures in a last signature group, the method provides: a) identify a reduced signature group () including a number of sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures; b) cut the paper strip () to separate the reduced signature group as reduced signature group; c) actuate the transversal folding equipment () limited to the sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures and skipping the actuation of the transversal folding equipment () for a single sheet section; and d) actuate the longitudinal folding equipment () for folding longitudinally the reduced signature group.

Process and system for the production of books with digital printing from a continuous paper strip and respective book

Binding equipment and false cover forming equipment for hardcover books are disclosed. The false cover forming equipment carries out false covers, by positioning a pair of endpapers in correspondence of lateral binding flaps of a respective backstrip, arranging folds of the endpapers at a pre-assembling distance associated with the thickness of the text block and gluing margins of past-down sheets of the endpapers with binding edges of the backstrip. The binding equipment is feedable, at a cover input 'IC', with the false covers for carrying out book blocks by gluing the backstrips of the false covers with the binding edges of corresponding text blocks and refolding the pairs of endpapers on the respective text blocks. An electronic processing unit is settable for the control of the false cover forming equipment and the binding equipment as a function of the dimensions of the hardcover book to be bound.

Binding plant for hardcover books and a method of binding for these books

A perforating equipment () for continuous forms in movement comprises tree transversal perforating device () for executing transversal perforations on continuous forms () to be divided in three longitudinal sections and continuous forms to be divided in two longitudinal sections. Each perforating device includes a contrast member (), a blade support mounting a blade () for the three section form and a blade () for the two section form, a blade servomechanism () and an activation group (). The blade servomechanism rotates the blade support for a condition of interference of a blade in the position of perforation; and the activation group causes the contrast member to contrast a corresponding blade for the perforations of the forms to be divided into three sections, or the forms to be divided into two longitudinal sections.

Perforating equipment for continuous forms in movement

A transversal cutting equipment for sheets separable from overlapped continuous forms, wherein the forms are longitudinally divided from a basic continuous form for producing documents with a single sheet or more sheets, and wherein the documents and the respective sheets are printed according to a predetermined order. The equipment comprises a cutting device for joined separation of the sheets; an accumulating and forwarding device; transport paths; and differentiating means for modifying the transport times of the sheets along one or more transport paths. The cutting device operates in a continuous way, while the accumulating and forwarding device collects the sheet or sheets of a partially formed document and sends the sheet or sheets upon the completion of the document. The differentiating means modifies the transport times without interrupting the cutting device so that a cut sheet of a following document, is transferred to the accumulating and forwarding device for the formation of the following document, substantially after the forwarding of the preceding document.

An equipment for transferring sheets with change of direction for sheets entering along a first direction comprises output rollers to move the sheets along a second direction, right-angled with respect to the first direction, and members of engagement and movement, actuatable for engaging and moving the sheets entering along the first direction along the second direction up to the engagement with the output rollers. The members of engagement and movement provide a condition of reception in which define a space of reception for the entering sheets and a condition of engagement and movement in which engage the entered sheets and move the sheets for the engagement with the output rollers. The members of engagement and movement return to the condition of reception upon the engagement of the entered sheet with the output rollers for enabling a following sheet&#x2014;to enter and to be moved along the first direction jointly with the movement of the previous entered sheet along the second direction.

Equipment for transferring sheets with change of direction

A punching and/or perforation equipment () for continuous paper forms () comprising punching and/or perforation member () and contrast elements () substantially tangent to the movement surface () of the forms and a punching and/or perforation mechanism () for driving the punching and/or perforation members. A detecting device () detects at least one reference position the forms associated with the punching and/or perforation positions and a servomechanism () actuates the punching and/or perforation mechanism on the basis of the reference position or positions between a state of rest and a state of punching and/or perforation and in which the reference position or positions are associated with information of a position encoder (). Punching and/or perforating equipment for continuous forms

A cutting equipment () for continuous forms () comprising an input moving device () for a continuous form, a loop forming device (), a cutting feeding device () and a transversal cutting mechanism () for the form. The form () has side sprocket holes () and the cutting feeding device () includes intermediate pin feed tractors () interposed between the loop forming device () and the transversal cutting mechanism () and provided for cooperating with the sprocket holes of the section of form () to be cut. The loop forming device includes a loop sensor () and the input moving device () causes the form to be entered at a mean velocity depending on the velocity of the intermediate pin feed tractors () and on the state of the loop sensor.

Cutting equipment for continuous form

A dynamic sequencer ( ) for sheets printed two-up and slalom on continuous forms comprising an input section ( ) for two sheets ( - and - ) in a plane flanking relationship with respect to a longitudinal axis ( ) and a collecting station ( ) for the superposed sheets. Overlapping device ( ) moves the sheets from the input section ( ) to the collecting station ( ) along two respective trajectories ( ) maintaining a constant transversal trim. Dynamic sequencer for sheets of printed paper

Apparatus for recording and reproducing data on a magnetic recording medium (27) having a plurality of recording tracks (29) comprises a magnetic head (32) and a mechanism which selectively positions the head (32) with respect to the tracks (29) of the magnetic medium (27). The head has at least two gaps which are of different widths and which can be selected one at a time for reading and/or recording data on the magnetic recording medium (27). A control circuit controls the positioning mechanism to move the head with respect to the magnetic recording medium by a distance which depends on the gap selected. The packing density of tracks on the recording medium determines which gap is selected for use.

Apparatus for recording and reproducing data on a magnetic recording

The device comprises a carriage mobile radially relative to the disk, and on which lower and upper opposing magnetic heads are mounted, each for recording and/or reading a corresponding disk face. The upper magnetic head is resiliently mounted at the end of an arm pivoted to the carriage and is urged against the disk with a predetermined load determined by a spring. A flexible joint enables it to rotate in all directions about a central support. The lower magnetic head is connected to the carriage by means of a pair of parallel leaf springs which enable it to move along an axis normal to the plane of the disk without rotation, whereby both heads maintain good contact regardless of the height of the nominal plane of the disk.
