Techniques can include: establishing synchronous replication configurations between first and second sites for a group of stretched resources and a stretched resource; and performing processing that adds the stretched resource to the group. While both the group and stretched resource are in an active-active state and replicating data, existing replication session objects associated with stretched resource on both sites can be deleted while retaining remaining portions of layered services stacks corresponding to the stretched resource on both sites. A first remaining portion can be added to a first replication session object corresponding to the group on the first site. A second remaining portion can be added to a second replication session object corresponding to the group on the second site. Even though the existing replication session objects associated with the stretched resource may be deleted, the existing configuration corresponding to the stretched object can be retained.

Techniques for adding and removing storage objects from groups

A technique is disclosed for ending metro-clustering on metro volumes. The technique includes collecting a plurality of metrics that indicate respective characteristics associated with a metro volume. In response to receiving a request to end metro on the metro volume, the technique includes comparing the plurality of metrics with a database that associates multiple permutations of metrics with respective procedures for ending metro. The technique further includes identifying, based on the comparison, a target procedure having a permutation of metrics that matches the plurality of metrics and implementing the target procedure.

Described herein are systems and methods for replication and moving data to provide for container-based application mobility. The configuration of the of the container-based application is determined and copied to an intermediate object storage. Depending on the replication compatibility of source array backing the source cluster and the target array backing the target cluster either a replication engine or data mover are used to move data. Configuration of the container-based application in the common storage is copied and stored to the target cluster. The target cluster is used to restore the container-based application.

Method and system for temporary replication as data mover for container-based application mobility

Techniques can include: performing asynchronous replication for a source storage object and a target storage object; tracking writes tagged with a tracking identifier associated with a replication related snapshot of the source storage object; receiving a request at a source system to create identical user snapshots of the source storage object and the target storage object; creating a user snapshot of the source storage object; and storing a record in metadata of tracked writes denoting a time order of the request relative to tracked writes tagged with the tracking identifier; determining, in accordance with said tracking, first tracked writes tagged with the tracking identifier that are received before the request; replicating, to the target system, data changes from the replication related snapshot corresponding to the first tracked writes; and creating a user snapshot of the target storage object after data changes are applied to the target storage object.

Techniques can include: establishing a synchronous replication configuration for a group of stretched resources configured for bi-directional synchronous replication between a first site and a second site; and performing processing to implement a change or modification operation of the group of one or more existing stretched resources. The processing can include performing a three phase workflow comprising: a preparation phase that prepares the group for the change or modification operation of the group; a commitment phase that commits the change or modification operation to the group; and a synchronization phase that synchronizes content of the group in accordance with the change or modification operation to the group. Each stretched resource of the group can be configured from local resources of the first and second sites where such local resources have the same identity when exposed to an external host over paths from the first and second sites.

Techniques can include: configuring source sites in a replication configuration with a target site; receiving, at a first of the source sites from a host, a write I/O to a target location of a source storage object of the source site; sending a replicated write corresponding to the write I/O from the first source site to the target site, wherein the replicated write writes to the target location of a target storage object of the target site; prioritizing the replicated write, based at least in part, on a site-level priority associated with the first source site; placing the first replicated write in a first queue of a first plurality of queues based, at least in part, on the site level priority associated with the first source site; selecting the first replicated write from said first queue; and servicing the first replicated write.

Techniques are directed to detecting an abnormal event while data storage equipment is in transit. Such techniques involve receiving a series of sensor signals from a set of sensors affixed to the data storage equipment. The series of sensor signals identifies a series of positional integrity measurements for the data storage equipment while the data storage equipment is in transit. Such techniques further involve performing a series of comparison operations that compares the series of positional integrity measurements to a set of range. Such techniques further involve, based on the series of comparison operations, providing an abnormal event signal in response to a particular positional integrity measurement falling outside a corresponding range of the set of ranges.

Detecting an abnormal event while data storage equipment is in transit

Configuring systems to provide host access may include: configuring a stretched volume; and performing processing that allows the host access to the stretched volume. The processing may include: receiving a first command to create a first host object for access control for the host in the first data storage system; in response to receiving the first command, performing first processing including: creating the first host object that includes an initiator set of the host; and creating a second host object on the second data storage system, wherein the second host object includes the initiator set and specifies access control in the second data storage system for the host; receiving a second command to map the stretched volume to the first host object; and in response to receiving the second command, granting the host access to the stretched volume on the first data storage system and the second data storage system.

In one aspect, an example methodology implementing the disclosed techniques includes creating, by a first site of a volume that supports active-active bidirectional replication, a local copy of the volume, the local copy of the volume configured to be active. One or more attributes of the request in the queue may be identified. The request for the copy operation may be executed according to a replication policy based upon, at least in part, the one or more attributes of the request in the queue.

System and method for prioritizing replication copy activity

A method, computer program product, and computer system for creating, with a first replication product, one or more groups of a plurality of groups that is empty in a storage array. A protection policy may be applied to the one or more groups on the first replication product, wherein the protection policy may include a replication rule. A policy profile may be created by the second replication product, wherein the replication rule may be included to the policy profile. The protection policy may be applied to a virtual machine (VM). The policy profile may be applied to the VM. The first replication product may replicate one or more virtual volumes of the VM on a remote system based upon, at least in part, the replication rule.

System and method for native and non-native replication for virtual volume based machines

Techniques for providing a common object model for storage systems that facilitates the performance of data mobility use cases. In the techniques, a plurality of storage system objects for a plurality of storage systems, respectively, are instantiated from a common object model, in which the respective storage system objects have unique identifiers. Further, one or more storage system objects involved in one or more data mobility use cases are determined from among the plurality of storage system objects using the unique identifiers. The determined storage system objects include capabilities of at least some of the plurality of storage systems. Based on the capabilities included in the determined storage system objects, operations of the data mobility use cases are initiated at a system level via a single user interface, thereby providing uniform management of data mobility sessions that increases the efficiency of storage administrators.
