A startup circuit includes a first circuit leg coupled between an input node and an output node and a second circuit leg coupled between the input node and the output node. The first circuit generates a first current and the second circuit leg sinks current from a first node based upon the first current. A third circuit leg is coupled between the input node and the output node and sources current to a second node based upon a voltage at the first node to thereby generate a feedback voltage at the second node. The first circuit leg increases the first current based upon the feedback voltage, in turn increasing the current sunk from the first node by the second circuit leg and increasing the current sourced to the second node by the third circuit leg to thereby generate a startup current at the output node.

Leakage-based startup circuit

A control circuit and method, wherein an error signal is generated representative of a difference between an output voltage of a switching circuit and a nominal signal; a single control signal is generated, representative of an average error of the error signal; the single control signal is compared with a first periodic reference signal and a second periodic reference signal; a first pulse width modulated signal is generated by a Buck modulator; and a second pulse width modulated signal is generated by a Boost modulator. The maximum value of the first periodic reference signal and the minimum value of the second periodic reference signal are higher and lower, respectively, than the single control signal in a transient control mode between a Buck control mode and a Boost control mode.

Methods and devices for adaptive output sampling for power converters

An input node is configured to receive a supply signal which may be of a first polarity or a second polarity opposite the first polarity. A high input current circuit couples the input node to an output node through at least one power transistor having a control electrode. A low input current circuit couples a supply current from the input node to control circuit configured to control the power transistor. A circuit is provided to detect polarity reversal with respect to the supply signal. A protection circuit for the low input current circuit operates to decouple the control circuit from the input node if the supply signal has the second polarity. A protection circuit for the high input current circuit operates to short-circuit the control electrode of the power transistor to the current path provided by the power transistor between the input node and the output node.

Supply protection circuit that protects power transistor from a supply signal of an incorrect polarity

A power stage in an electronic fuse circuit is driven by controller. The controller includes a first comparator set for output voltage control and a second comparator set for output current control. Each comparator set includes at least one comparator having a reference input, a feedback input, and one or more outputs. A driver circuit includes output terminals for driving the power stage. The driver circuit includes a switch that is selectively activated in response to outputs from the first and second comparator sets to clamp the voltage across the output terminals of the driver circuit. The clamp operation is made in response to feedback input to either of the first and second comparator sets having exceeded a certain reference.

Electronic fuse circuit, corresponding device and method

A multiple-input analog-to-digital converter device includes analog-to-digital converter circuits arranged between input nodes and output nodes. The analog-to-digital converter circuits operate over respective conversion times to provide simultaneous conversion of the analog input signals into respective conversion time signals. A time-to-digital converter circuit includes timer circuitry common to the plurality of analog-to-digital converter circuits. The timer circuitry cooperates with the analog-to-digital converter circuits to convert the conversion time signals into digital output signals at the output nodes.

Multiple input analog-to-digital converter device and corresponding method

A converter circuit is used to selectively convert an analog input voltage into a digital output signal or a digital input signal into an analog output voltage as a function of a mode signal. The converter circuit includes a control circuit configured to generate a start-of-conversion signal. A ramp generator is configured to, when the mode signal indicates an analog-to-digital conversion, generate a timer stop signal after a time interval that is determined as a function of the value of the analog input voltage, thereby implementing an analog-to-time conversion. When the mode signal indicates a digital-to-analog conversion, ramp generator is configured to vary the ramp signal until a ramp stop signal is set and, in response to the ramp stop signal, determine the analog output voltage as a function of the ramp signal, thereby implementing a time-to-analog conversion.

Analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter, related integrated circuit, electronic system and method

A voltage-to-time converter circuit receives a first voltage signal and produces a PWM-modulated signal having a duty-cycle proportional to the first voltage signal. A current integrator circuit receives the PWM-modulated signal from the voltage-to-time converter circuit block and produces an output signal by integrating a current signal from a current source over integration time intervals having a duration which is a function of the duty-cycle of the PWM-modulated signal. The current signal is proportional to a second voltage signal. The output signal is accordingly proportional to a product of the first voltage signal and the current signal, which is furthermore proportional to a product of the first voltage signal and the second voltage signal.

Multiplier circuit, corresponding device and method

A pressure sensor device is to be positioned within a material where a mechanical parameter is measured. The pressure sensor device may include an IC having a ring oscillator with an inverter stage having first doped and second doped piezoresistor couples. Each piezoresistor couple may include two piezoresistors arranged orthogonal to one another with a same resistance value. Each piezoresistor couple may have first and second resistance values responsive to pressure. The IC may include an output interface coupled to the ring oscillator and configured to generate a pressure output signal based upon the first and second resistance values and indicative of pressure normal to the IC.

Pressure sensor device for measuring a differential normal pressure to the device and related methods

A boost-type converter circuit includes a pair of converter switches that are alternatively switchable on and off. An inductor is coupled to the intermediate point between the converter switches. A driver module controls switching on and off of the converter switches in respond to a comparator output signal. A reference signal line provides to the comparator a reference signal, and an output feedback line provides to the comparator an output feedback signal. These signals are compared to each other to generate the comparator output signal for controlling the driver module. A low-pass filter network is coupled to the inductor and configured to provide a ripple current which is a low-pass filtered replica of the current through the inductor. An injector circuit injects the ripple current into the reference signal line coupled to the comparator.

A solid state sensor to sense pressure includes a semiconductor substrate having a crystallographic design axis, and an odd number of identical inverter modules coupled in series to form a ring oscillator on the semiconductor substrate. Each inverter module includes a pair of structurally identical CMOS inverter stages. A logic input circuit starts oscillation of the ring oscillator and select a signal propagation path therein, either through CMOS inverter stage more affected by the induced mechanical stress or through CMOS inverter stages less affected by the pressure, using two logic command signals. The ring oscillator allows a reading of a frequency of oscillation based on the two logic command signals.

Solid state pressure sensor

A sensor and/or actuator system in which functional circuitry is embedded in an all organic electromechanical transducer device is disclosed. The electromechanical transducer device exploits the behavior of a flexible sensible ionomeric material sheet as effective sensing or actuating member sandwiched between flexible organic electrodes when undergoing a deformation or being polarized at a certain drive voltage applied to the, electrodes, respectively. The completely embedded all organic system is realized with a process exploiting relatively low cost deposition and patterning techniques. The enhanced flexibility makes the all organic device suitable for new applications in fields ranging from biomedical to aerospace industry.

All-organic sensor/actuator system

An analog transconductance amplifier includes an input stage including a first transistor and a second transistor connected in series to the first transistor. The first and second transistors are connected between positive and negative voltages and are respectively controlled by an input voltage and a first control voltage for generating a normalized drive voltage. An amplification stage includes a first conduction path including an amplification transistor controlled by the normalized drive voltage. A first load transistor is connected in series to the amplification transistor and is controlled by a second control voltage. A second conduction path includes at least one second load transistor controlled by a third control voltage. A current mirror forces through the second conduction path a replica of current flowing through the first conduction path. An output stage transistor delivers an output current, and is controlled by a voltage on the second load transistor. All of the transistors in the analog transconductance amplifier are field effect transistors of a same conductivity type.
