Crystalline modification of mixtures comprising (a) a nickel-quencher corresponding to &lsqb;2,2&prime;-thio-bis(4-t-octylphenolate)-n-butylamine Nickel (II)&rsqb; and (b) a 2-hydroxy-4-alkyloxybenzophenone corresponding to 2-hydroxy-4-n-octyloxybenzophenone wherein it has two diffraction lines at angles 2{acute over (&oslash;)}&equals;6.291 and 2{acute over (&oslash;)}&equals;6.888 in the X-Ray diffraction spectrum from powders. The said crystalline modification can be used as a light stabilizer for agricultural films based on polyolefins or polyolefinic copolymers.

Granular form of a mixture comprising: (a) a nickel-quencher corresponding to &lsqb;2,2&prime;-thio-bis(4-t-octyl-phenolate)-n-butylamine Nickel (II)&rsqb;; (b) a 2-hydroxy-4-alkyloxybenzophenone corresponding to 2-hydroxy-4-n-octyloxybenzophenone; characterized in that it has two diffraction lines at angles 2&thgr;&equals;17.593 and 2&thgr;&equals;22.023 in the X-Ray diffraction spectrum from powders. The above granular form can be used as a light stabilizer for agricultural films based on polyolefins or olefinic copolymers.

A stabilizing composition for thermoplastic organic polymers containing measured quantities of: (a) a sterically hindered phenol; (b) a triarylphosphite; and (c) a dialkylthiodipropionate. Stabilized polymer compositions are also described containing a thermoplastic organic polymer, in particular a polyolefin, and a stabilizing quantity of said stabilizing composition, which possess excellent characteristics in relation to their melt flow index and color when subjected to repeated extrusion and in relation to their long-term thermal stability.

A solid stabilizer composition for synthetic polymers is formed by a solid, continuous phase and by a solid dispersed phase in said continuous phase, wherein the continuous phase is constituted by amorphous 2,2'-oxamido-bis[ethyl-3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionate] and the dispersed phase is constituted by an amorphous, or crystalline, or partially amorphous and partially crystalline organic phosphite, with the weight ratio of said continuous phase to said dispersed phase being comprised within the range of from 9:1 to 1:9. The process for preparing said solid composition and its use in the stabilization of synthetic polymers are disclosed.

A solid stabilizer composition for organic polymers is formed by a solid, continuous phase and by a dispersed phase in said continuous phase, wherein the continuous phase is constituted by amorphous tetrakis-[3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionyloxymethyl]-metha ne and the dispersed phase is constituted by an either amorphous or crystalline organic phosphite, in the form of particles with a particle size of from 10 .mu.m to 2 mm, with the weight ratio of said continuous phase to said dispersed phase being comprised within the range of from 9:1 to 1:9. The processes for preparing said solid stabilizer composition and its use in the stabilization of organic polymers are disclosed.

Solid organic phosphites in powder form, used to endow organic polymers with stability characteristics are made resistant to hydrolysis by treating said powder phosphites with a silane containing in its molecule at least two alkoxy groups and causing the silane to hydrolyze, and the formation and deposition of a siliconic polymer on the surface of powder particles to occur.
