The invention relates to a stator () which may be used within an electric rotating machine, an apparatus for preparing pre-shaped insulators and a method for preparing a pre-shaped insulator. The stator () comprises a stator core () which has a plurality of axially extending slots () arranged in a circumferential direction (C) of the stator core () and at least two conductors () arranged along a radial direction (R) of the same slot (). Each conductor () is peripherally wrapped by an individual insulator () which extends around the outer circumference () of the conductor (), such that in circumferential direction the insulator () comprises a one-layer-section () and an overlapping section () which extend along the complete axial length () of the insulator ().

An apparatus for forming pre-shaped insulating sheets comprises a first bending station and a second bending station. The first bending station is used for bending a flat sheet of insulating material into a Z-shaped sheet (). The second bending station is used for bending the Z-shaped sheet into an S-shape. Apparatus and method for winding poles of cores for electric dynamo machines

The present invention discloses methods and apparatus for winding wire onto the slots on armature lamination stacks. More specifically, the present invention is directed to methods and apparatus for increasing time the winding components are operating on an armature winding system. The invention includes a loading/unloading unit and a holding unit that may be operated independently under most circumstances. The independent operation enables the winders of the present invention to operate at increased duty cycles, thereby increasing throughput. Additionally, the apparatus of the present invention increases the likelihood that armatures remain properly indexed during the loading transfer process to further increase system efficiency.

Methods and apparatus for winding electric machine cores

Sensor arrangements are provided to detect whether initial and final wire leads were properly terminated to tang terminals of dynamo-electric machine components. The sensor arrangements may detect whether excess wire from the termination of the initial wire lead is present on a first side of a wire gripper. The sensor arrangements may detect whether excess wire from the termination of the final wire lead is present on a second side of a wire gripper. The sensor arrangements can include two sensors or a single sensor to detect the presence of the excess wire. Beam sensors, vision sensors, or tactile sensors may be used to detect the presence of the excess wire. A plunger device is provided to facilitate the tearing of thin initial and final wire leads to a tang terminal of a commutator.

Wire sensors for tang termination in dynamo-electric machine manufacturing systems

A method of winding a core having slots of different angular distances from one another and/or different shapes is provided. The method includes using a flyer winder to wind turns of wire into a first portion of the slots having a uniform distance from one another, and then using a different flyer winder to wind turns of wire into a second portion of the slots having a uniform distance from another. In addition, back-up members may be used to evenly distribute the wire in the slots during winding. Specifically, concerning slots that have walls that diverge as they approach the center of the core, back-up members that also diverge as the slots are wound are provided.
