A territorial surveillance and/or security control system based on monitoring vehicle license plates, and having a number of mobile surveillance units () for reading vehicle license plates and generating alarms during patrol by the mobile surveillance units (), and a permanent surveillance centre () communicating with the mobile surveillance units () to locate the mobile surveillance units by radio, to gather, file, and consult the license plates detected by the mobile surveillance units (), to handle the alarms generated by the mobile surveillance units, and to update a list of wanted license plates. Each mobile surveillance unit () includes a vehicle () equipped with an on-vehicle navigation system (); and a license plate reading device () on the vehicle () and communicating with the on-vehicle navigation system () of the vehicle (), which controls communication with the permanent surveillance centre () to update the list of wanted license plates, and to transmit any alarms generated by the mobile surveillance unit ().

Vehicle licence plates monitoring system

An industrial truck, in particular a counterbalanced front-forklift truck, is provided which can be operated both manually and automatically and has a fork to handle pallets and loads located thereon. The forklift truck is equipped for automatic operation with a control system which can be brought into active connection with the vehicle drive system, the vehicle steering system, the vehicle braking system or the movement control system for the fork. The truck further includes a system for the input and storage of possible travel routes and a transport task, a system for the autonomous determination of the position of the vehicle in the room, a system for the control of the movement of the vehicle as a function of its position in the room and of the predefined transport task, a system for detection of the presence, the position, and the orientation of a pallet, a system for the control of the movement of the fork and/or of the vehicle as a function of the position, the orientation of the pallet, and the transport task, and a system for the deceleration of the vehicle in the presence of obstacles.

A navigation system for an autonomous mobile robot within an environment which comprises coded signs at predetermined points comprising means for storing data regarding said environment, including data regarding the positions of said coded signs relative to the environment, passive vision systems for the image acquisition and automatic recognition of said coded signs, a computer for estimating its own position and orientation relative to one of said coded signs and to the environment, means for acquiring the location of target positions, means for planning a path to be covered within said environment to reach target positions, and means for controlling the robot motion based on the stored path data.
