There are disclosed techniques (e.g., apparatus, methods) for estimating an impulse response of a linear system. An apparatus is configured to generate a transmit signal on the basis of a first sequence. The apparatus is configured to obtain a receive signal and to multiply the receive signal with a second sequence, to obtain a modified receive signal, wherein the second sequence is different from the first sequence. The apparatus is configured to analog-to-digital, ADC, convert an integration result in order to obtain a sample value, the integration result being based on an integration of the modified receive signal over a period of time. The apparatus is configured to obtain an estimate of the impulse response on the basis of a plurality of sample values.

Method for the acquisition of impulse responses, e.g. for ultra-wideband systems

An apparatus for providing direction information based on a reproduced audio signal with an embedded watermark includes a signal processor, which is adapted to process at least two received watermarked audio signals recorded by at least two audio receivers at different spatial positions. The signal processor is adapted to process the received watermarked audio signals to obtain a receiver-specific information for each received watermarked audio signal. The receiver-specific information depends on the embedded watermarks embedded in the received watermarked audio signals. Moreover, the apparatus includes a direction information provider for providing direction information based on the receiver-specific information for each received watermarked audio signal.

Direction of arrival estimation using watermarked audio signals and microphone arrays

A spatial audio processor for providing spatial parameters based on an acoustic input signal has a signal characteristics determiner and a controllable parameter estimator. The signal characteristics determiner is configured to determine a signal characteristic of the acoustic input signal. The controllable parameter estimator for calculating the spatial parameters for the acoustic input signal in accordance with a variable spatial parameter calculation rule is configured to modify the variable spatial parameter calculation rule in accordance with the determined signal characteristic.

An apparatus for generating a plurality of parametric audio streams from an input spatial audio signal obtained from a recording in a recording space has a segmentor and a generator. An apparatus for microphone positioning includes a spatial power distribution determiner and a spatial information estimator. The spatial power distribution determiner is adapted to determine a spatial power density indicating power values for a plurality of locations of an environment based on sound source information indicating one or more power values and one or more position values of one or more sound sources located in the environment. The spatial information estimator is adapted to estimate acoustic spatial information based on the spatial power density.

Apparatus and method for microphone positioning based on a spatial power density

An apparatus for generating at least one audio output signal based on an audio data stream having audio data relating to one or more sound sources is provided. The apparatus has a receiver for receiving the audio data stream having the audio data. The audio data has one or more pressure values for each one of the sound sources. Furthermore, the audio data has one or more position values indicating a position of one of the sound sources for each one of the sound sources. A watermark generator for providing a watermark signal as a sequence of subsequent watermark coefficients based on a stream of subsequent stream values representing discrete valued data includes a differential encoder. The differential encoder is configured to apply a phase rotation to a current stream value of the stream values representing the discrete valued data or to a current watermark symbol, the current watermark symbol corresponding to a current stream value of the stream values representing the discrete valued data, to obtain a current watermark coefficient of the watermark signal. The differential encoder is configured to derive a phase of a previous spectral coefficient of a watermarked signal which is a combination of the host signal and the watermark signal, and to provide the watermark signal such that a phase angle of the phase rotation applied to the current stream value or the current watermark symbol is dependent on the phase of the previous spectral coefficient of the watermarked signal.

Apparatus for adapting a spatial audio signal for an original loudspeaker setup to a playback loudspeaker setup that differs from the original loudspeaker setup. The apparatus includes a direct-ambience decomposer that is configured to decomposing channel signals in a segment of the original loudspeaker setup into direct sound and ambience components, and to determine a direction of arrival of the direct sound components. A direct sound renderer receives a playback loudspeaker setup information and adjusts the direct sound components using the playback loudspeaker setup information so that a perceived direction of arrival of the direct sound components in the playback loudspeaker setup is substantially identical to the direction of arrival of the direct sound components. A combiner combines adjusted direct sound components and possibly modified ambience components to obtain loudspeaker signals for loudspeakers of the playback loudspeaker setup.

Segment-wise adjustment of spatial audio signal to different playback loudspeaker setup

An apparatus for measuring a plurality of loudspeakers arranged at different positions includes a generator of a test signal for a loudspeaker; a microphone device configured for receiving a plurality of different sound signals in response to one or more loudspeaker signals emitted by one of the loudspeakers in response to the test signal; a controller for controlling emissions of the loudspeaker signals by the loudspeakers and for handling the different sound signals so that a set of sound signals recorded by the microphone device is associated with each loudspeaker in response to the test signal; and an evaluator for evaluating the set of sound signals for each loudspeaker to determine at least one loudspeaker characteristic for each loudspeaker and for indicating a loudspeaker state using the at least one loudspeaker characteristic. This scheme allows automatic, efficient and accurate measurement of loudspeakers arranged in a three-dimensional configuration.

An apparatus for generating a merged audio data stream is provided. The apparatus includes a demultiplexer for obtaining a plurality of single-layer audio data streams, wherein each input audio data stream includes one or more layers, wherein the demultiplexer is adapted to demultiplex each one of one or more input audio data streams having one or more layers into two or more demultiplexed audio data streams having exactly one layer. Furthermore, the apparatus includes a merging module for generating the merged audio data stream based on the plurality of single-layer audio data streams. An apparatus for deriving a directional information from a plurality of microphone signals or from a plurality of components of a microphone signal, wherein different effective microphone look directions are associated with the microphone signals or components, has a combiner configured to obtain a magnitude value from a microphone signal or a component of the microphone signal. An apparatus for generating an audio output signal to simulate a recording of a virtual microphone at a configurable virtual position in an environment includes a sound events position estimator and an information computation module. A watermark generator for providing a watermark signal in dependence on binary message data includes an information processor configured to provide, in dependence on information units of the binary message data, a first time-frequency domain representation, values of which represent the binary message data. The watermark generator also includes a differential encoder configured to derive a second time-frequency domain representation from the first time-frequency-domain representation, such that the second time-frequency-domain representation includes a plurality of values, wherein a difference between two values of the second time-frequency-domain representation represents a corresponding value of the first time-frequency-domain representation, in order to obtain a differential encoding of the values of the first time-frequency-domain representation. The watermark generator also includes a watermark signal provider configured to provide the watermark signal on the basis of the second time-frequency-domain representation.
