Metallurgical reactor for the production of cast iron, consisting of a metal casing internally lined, at least partially, with refractory material and provided, in the region of the top closure, with a duct through which high-temperature ferrous material is introduced, said reactor being equipped with a first series of lances for injecting the comburent gas, which are suitably directed and arranged on at least a first bottom level situated in the vicinity of the crucible for collecting the cast iron and through which, in association with a comburent gas, coal of suitable grain size is blown by means of a suitable carrier gas. Said duct has suitable cooling means and is provided, in the bottom terminal part, with nozzles for blowing in compressed gas. The middle zone of the casing of the reactor is lined internally with refractory material, pockets for receiving plates made of metal which is a good heat conductor being formed in said lining, said plates being provided on their side directed towards the outside of the reactor with heat exchanger means for cooling thereof.

A rotary hearth furnace, in particular for the treatment of minerals or oxidized materials, includes a toroidal chamber wherein the bottom wall, i.e., the hearth, rotates as to the rest of the chamber the hearth includes a refractory material layer supported on a frame which includes the tracks cooperating with the wheels, placed on the ground, for the sliding and/or driving of said hearth. The frame includes several girts radial as to the hearth, angularly equidistant from each other, and at least two circular sliding girders, positioned next to the outer and inner peripheral edge of said hearth. The sliding girders are in contact with the hearth sliding and/or driving wheels through the suitable tracks, and the wheels are angularly equidistant from each other with the same angular pitch of the radial girts.

A device for feeding and distributing loose material to rotary platforms, particularly for rotary-hearth furnaces, includes a material feed device, a material transfer device and a material gravity-pour duct. The device further includes a static device for the differentiated distribution of the material. The distribution front of the gravity-pour duct has an essentially curvilinear profile, the derivative of this curve being an increasing linear function of the radius of the rotary platform in the portion lying between the center of the platform and its perimeter.
