Embodiments of the present invention provide an electrical filter structure having a direct-coupled-stub filter (DCSF). The lengths of the transmission line portions can be arranged such that electrical lengths of the transmission line portions are shorter, by at least 10 percent, than a fourth of a wavelength of a signal having a frequency of a passband center frequency of the electrical filter structure. Moreover, lengths of the stubs can be selected so that the electrical lengths of the stubs are longer, by at least 2%, than a fourth of a wavelength of a signal having a frequency of a passband center frequency of the electrical filter structure. The filter structures of embodiments of the present invention can advantageously improve filter characteristics without changing the topological structure of the filter.

Frequency selective electrical filter

An electrical filter structure for forwarding an electrical signal from a first port, e.g. P, to a second port, e.g. P, in a frequency selective manner, wherein the filter is a microwave filter, the electrical filter structure comprising: a plurality of pairs of an open stub and a short-circuited stub coupled electrically in parallel to a transmission line comprising a plurality of transmission line portions at a plurality of respective junctions between adjacent transmission line portions, e.g. Cross junction; and wherein the first port is connected with a first of the junctions having a first pair comprising a first open stub and a first short-circuited stub; wherein the second port is connected with a last of the junctions having a last pair comprising a last open stub and a last short-circuited stub; wherein lengths of the pair of the open stub and the short-circuited stub coupled to a same of the junctions are chosen such that electrical lengths of the open stub and short-circuited stub of the respective pairs are equal within a tolerance of +/−10%.

An electrical filter structure for forwarding an electrical signal from a first port to a second port in a frequency selective manner, wherein the filter is an edge-coupled filter, the filter comprising: a plurality of coupled line sections coupled in a series, comprising at least a first coupled line section and a last coupled line section; wherein the first port is connected with the first of the coupled line sections using a first transmission line; wherein the second port is connected with the last of the coupled line sections using a second transmission line; wherein the electrical filter comprises an open stub; wherein a length of the open stub is chosen such that an electrical length of the open stub is equal, within a tolerance of +/&#x2212;20 percent, to a fourth of a wavelength of a signal having a frequency of twice a passband center frequency of the filter.

This invention relates to an apparatus, a method and a computer program for calculating one or more scattering parameters of a linear network, the network including a number of N ports adapted to provide electric connections. The apparatus is configured to calculate, and the method includes calculating, one or more scattering parameters of the linear network, which are related to a reference impedance, on the basis of a measured electrical response at one or more ports of the linear network to an incident wave applied at a port of the linear network, measured under the condition that one or more of other ports of the linear network face a reflection coefficient &#x393; with an amplitude &#x3c1; of 0.5 or larger. The computer program is adapted to perform such a method and runs on a computer.

Multi-port measurement technique

A tester including a source and measuring device and a TX port connected to the source and measuring device is provided. The tester is configured to determine a source reflection coefficient using an extension circuit. The extension circuit includes a TX port connectable to the source and measuring device, a termination switch and a calibration device providing one or more terminations, wherein each of the terminations is individually connectable to the TX port by the termination switch, wherein one of the terminations is a power sensor. The source and measuring device is configured to measure one or more reflection coefficients at the TX port for the one or more terminations provided by the calibration device including the reflection coefficient for the power sensor. The tester is configured to determine the source reflection coefficient based on the one or more measured reflection coefficients including the measured reflection coefficient for the power sensor.

A switchable signal routing circuit for routing a signal between at least one input port and at least one output port is provided. The ports are connected via variable resistors to a common node, wherein the switchable signal routing circuit is configured to set resistance values of the variable resistors in dependence on a number of active ports.

An electrical filter structure includes a first filter core structure and a second filter core structure. The first filter core structure includes a plurality of shunt impedance elements. Similarly, the second filter core structure includes a plurality of shunt impedance elements. Shunt impedance elements of the first filter core structure are arranged in different conducting layers of a multi-layer structure, and shunt impedance elements of the second filter core structure are arranged in different layers of the multi-layer structure. Transmission lines used to implement the shunt impedance elements are interleaved.
